Unfortunately the quote on the gocompare.com website was totally misleading. The quote for an annual policy was £19.40 but the actual cost turned out to be £37.88. Startrescue.co.uk claimed that this was down to gocompare.com However, how many customers are being mislead? Shouldn't Startrescue.co.uk have some influence over how they are being marketed on the compairson site?

Dear Mr Tanner, we are sorry to find your comments. Please be advised our prices are the same regardless if you purchase a policy directly through our website, or through a comparison website. However our prices are based on the age of your vehicle, and what we sometimes find is customers enter the wrong age of their vehicle, resulting in the wrong premium being shown, and then when they are directed to our website the correct price is displayed. Renewed my policy without my permission all I was calling them for was a quote and sly advisor renewed it

I wanted to change the mobile contact number before renewal but as the policy was just up for renewal that option was not available via the customer lounge so I contacted Customer Services. Even though the policy was set up with my email address, credit card, mobile number and password, the customer services dept refused to change the mobile number because I took it out in my daughter's name. Once renewed (which I nearly didn't do!) I was able to change the mobile number myself. No common sense was applied here. Leila Jones' father.

Money was taken out of my account without any notice! I should of had an email to say if I want to renew this is how much it is and will be taken on this day. It took me into an overdraft which I’m guessing you will not be paying so it’s actually cost me more money.

Not happy with the service received, my insurance was renewed on a debit card that had expired last year, I had not yet decided whether I was going to renew but this took place automatically. Will definitely be giving a lot of thought as to whether I now stay with Start Rescue or if I do whether I shall be renewing again next year.

My experience has not been satisfactory. The one time I needed assistance, I had changed my car two days previously and had not had time to change cover details. Assistance was refused. Entirely within the terms of service but extremely irritating. Further, I was not pre-notified of the upcoming automatic renewal, as is usual with every other company I have automatic renewals with, otherwise I would have cancelled. Be assured there will not be a further renewal. Extremely shoddy service.

I sincerely hope you didnt take my money for an auto renewal. I sold the car over a year ago and have updated your difficult to use online system to say i dont want to renew. If I find you have then renewed and taken my money I will be very disappointed. Up till when I sold the car I was very pleased. I look forward to hearing from you.

The member of staff who sorted out my payment was very good, no problems there. However I followed the link from the email advising me auto payment had failed but there was no option to progress payment in the customer lounge no matter how hard I tried. I tried 2 different computers with 2 different browsers, there was no way to progress payment so I had to telephone customer service hence the 1 star.

They removed one vehicle from the policy without warning and it won't let me re- add it and Have automatically taken payment for a vehicle I don't own anymore. Tried to cancel over the past few week by phone as can't do it on the customer portal. Kept in a queue each time for almost an hour then just cuts me off! Requested a call back twice and surprise surprise no call back. Have just given up now and changed the vehicle to my new one which doesn't even need breakdown cover as it comes with the warranty. Thankfully my bank card will have expired before next year so they can't Take another payment. I've spent over £10 already trying to contact them! The insurance is less than £30 hence why I've given up as will probably cost me more in call costs to cancel. AVOID AS CAN'T CANCEL!!!

Awful couldn’t renew of the web, told to do it over the phone, then I had to purchase new policy. Today you send me another renewal notice. Unbelievable

I took policy out to start before Tuesday 10th June you took my money sent me details and policy starts on 11th June despite 2 emails I have heard nothing I am not happy

was informed my card details were out of date so automatic renewal could not be processed until i had made changes, however i subsequently find out the money has been taken. Very disappointed, previous service been great and was only because price was too high this time that i didn't choose to renew.
