We understand how important it is for you to have control over your policy renewal. You can change your automatic renewal setting at any time in the online Customer Lounge or by calling our Customer Services Team. We are pleased to see that you have been in touch with our Customer Services Team and have decided to continue your policy with us. We can also confirm that your automatic renewal has been turned off for next year. Start Rescue - a misnomer - absolutely useless as they neither 'started' nor 'rescued' me when I broke down in Glasgow last January - 11.15pm at night and they didn't have any pick up trucks or mechanics to help me. Scotland's biggest city but no breakdown cover! After a long wait, all they offered was a taxi home. Got home at 2am and had to travel back into Glasgow following day when they procured a pick up truck. Waste of time.

Called out once in the last year, car wasn't fixed or towed to a near by garage. Ending up having to call out a mobile car mechanic who diagnosed the problem and fixed my car. So I would say a very poor service from start rescue for a first time use.

On 3 February my car wouldn’t start so called Start Rescue and someone came out to charge up my battery. While out shopping the car wouldn’t start again so I called Start to get someone out to charge the battery again. I was given several arrival times, but I ended up spending 5 HOURS in a car park on my own waiting for someone to rescue me. During which time by car was hit by a shopping trolley. Victoria Recovery finally turned up at around 6 pm, by which time it was dark. Absolutely shocking service!

It seems that anthing stated on the web site is to be viewed as suspect. despite re selecting auto renew and updating my details it did not. After receving txt and emails to get in touch urgently after the renewal date advising that l did not follow proceedures and that my confimation email of auto renewal was incorrect. Have not selected auto renewal as you sytem web page seem to uterly flawed and is unreilable

Not everyone has a street name in their address. You have to enter a street name on the Smart Rescue website. When I called Smart Rescue I was told they were unable to do anything about this.

I did NOT want to autorenew. I had no idea that this was going to happen and that you could just steal the money from my account with no reminder or warning. I contacted customer services and no one replied. I am actually horrified you can take money out my account without permission and that you can generally operate like this and it’s not illegal. I feel cheated and robbed.

Based on a recent callout and the first call ever to Start. The attitude and response from Start was extremely bad , the couldn't care less attitude was really evident. I obviously contacted Start on a bad day at the office ! Typically of some customer facing companies today, there all too keen to auto renew the policy premiums and attract new business. But when it comes to the point of helping customers with a friendly and positive attitude this was obviously not evident and very much debatable. Duty of care and empathy definitely not shown. Thank goodness this was not a more serious incident otherwise the consequences may have been far greater.

Can the policy at any point outside of the 14 day cooling off period and you will not receive any refund at all, you will be made to pay for the entire year.

We aim to make it clear when purchasing an annual policy with Start Rescue that if you do not wish to continue with the insurance, we will provide a refund of premium paid within the 14 day cooling off period, providing no claim has been made and that should you cancel your policy after the 14 day cooling off period no refund of premium is available. If there is another eligible vehicle kept at the policy address in need of cover, you can change the vehicle covered by your policy to make use of the remaining cover. With the AI computer system in charge it an absolute Nightmere. I have spent bloody Hours sorting out problems here Dump the AI Computer system. Sack it with a P60 or P65, put in on an electeric chair. Instead 1 Tell me time of renewal 2 let me pay by card over the phone 3 Email policy Total time spent 3 Minutes

Waited ages to get through when my car broke down while on holiday. Then told that you could not help me find a local garage to recover me even though my phone signal was poor and I was stuck on an A road. Couldn’t find a garage to help so called RAC who were fantastic.

Website very confusing. Eventualy made a purchase but then had additional questions to answer so in total frustration I telephoned them and cancelled the order.
