On the whole they're fine. But recently I had to call them to a tyre that at lunchtime was flat. Unfortunately the recovery van was too high to get into the carpark, and I had to drive the car out, which resulted in needing a new tyre. Recovery vans need mobile tyre changing tools in them to get in to height restricted car parks.

Never had the chance to call you guys out but the price keeps going up. Why. Bit of a stick in the mud should have changed by now as every year my premium keeps going up just renewed again at a higher price, no reward for loyalty

Fortunately not needed the rescue Service but have bought the cover for a few European trips over the last 5 or so years. Bought it last year and for the first time it automatically renewed when I called to question this I was told that the service Now automatically renews. You can only opt out by calling and requesting to cancel the auto renewal feature.

I cancelled my call out within 5 minutes of phoning them as a neighbour came to help. I was originally told the mechanic was on another job but kept getting phone calls asking for £30 payment, stating he was enroute to my job. It took a week and one sensible phone operative to dismiss this payment.

Do not ask questions whilst waiting to be recovered as they will delay confirming the booking it as for some reason they thought they needed my confirmation even though this was already given....!

When I needed assistance it was denied or available at an additional cost. Stuck in snow and needed a tow out but was met by a call handler denying I was broken down. This was despite previous assurance that the cover included snow and mud problems.

While our policies cover a recovery up to 10 miles if you have the misfortune to be stuck in the snow or mud, the use of specialist equipment to recover the vehicle is not covered by our policies. Whilst our Breakdown Team are able to arrange this service for you, if specialist equipment is required to recover you then there would be an additional charge. I'm paying for 3 Star which includes home cover rescue. As I'm 79 years old and infermed I asked for help to change a flat tyre. Was given a time for 10:30 which failed. Was text a new time for 11:30 which failed. Was given so new time for 12:30 which failed. My neabour then changed the wheel for me to get going. I then cancelled the call out. Was not happy. I have been with Start rescue for 3 years. In that time neither I or my wife has had to call them for anything. Premiums had been reasonable for 2 cars. This year they were increased significantly. A 30% increase is not justified. I went on line and found it could be cheaper with others and with Start Rescue but with an excess for a call out. I think the increase is due to 2 things 1) banking on loyalty returns and 2) age of cars. My cars are maintained by me and are 10 and 11 years old and very reliable. If it goes up again I will leave and go elsewhere.

We value our returning customers, which is why we always include renewal savings, meaning that a returning customer will never pay more than a new customer for an equivalent policy. We offer policies with an excess through comparison websites as we understand that some customers who rarely breakdown, like yourself, would prefer to pay a lower annual premium but pay an excess should they need assistance. For vehicle based cover, our prices are affected by the ages of the vehicles on cover as this can affect their likelihood to break down. Best wishes, the Start Rescue Team,

i could see on the website that of the £70 odd half was admin charge, i could see a place for a discount code but couldn't find how to get one. Hopefully if i do need your service it will be 5 star as reviews say

I have never had to use the services of Start Rescue, but get annoyed shortly before the year is up when I am bombarded by a series of text messages and emails, reminding me to renew. The "Why did you choose to buy or renew our cover?" options should include "Couldn't be bothered to change" and "Inertia or Apathy"...

I had to take out a new policy been a member a few years bad luck stuck and I cancelled my renewal due to money reason's fortunately I got back on track because I was 3 weeks over my renewal date I had to start from scratch from £80 renewal to £113 but the finally gave a 10% discount I think it's a bad show considering

Having joined Start Rescue on the 10th March, my son was unfortunately invoved in an RTA on 20th March, when he was broadsided by another driver, (writing our car off). The impact spun our car across the road into oncoming traffic rendering the car undriveable. Following the usual procedure in a car accident, my son called Start Rescue to organise recovery. Following several calls from Start Rescue each one to change the arrival time originally given, (during which time my son had to wave other oncoming traffic away from the totalled car), they finally arrived approximately 3 hours later. (the person who caused the accident had left, as had the police, who didn't do anything beyond ask my son if he was ok)! When the recovery driver finally arrived, he was surly and uncommunicative throughout - the only positive thing was that my son and the car were transported to our home locally. Altogether an unpleasant experience, not helped by a three hour wait for someone who was in shock and left to stand in the road by an immobilised car for hours - a fact which was made clear to the rescue service. Not impressed I'm afraid.

Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the recovery truck arrived but my car was too big for it, had to arrange another pick up 2 days later, here we are still waiting 2 days later they still haven’t arrived after 3 time changes. Terrible service from Beeches recovery. Great service from Start Rescue, they kept me informed and were very polite and friendly.

Have never used the service so can’t comment on that. However, the way in which they chase you to renew is unforgivable. A barrage of continual emails, text messages and phone calls. They never responded to a number of email requests, to stop it, either.

Took out a policy earlier this year as I saw it advertised with TopCashback. Haven't used before but thought I'd give them ago. Sign up was easy, haven't tried to claim on the policy so can't comment on claims management, but the advertised cashback was declined after being pending for a few months (looking at reviews this seems common). I wouldn't have taken out the policy were it not for their false advertising and won't be renewing when my policy ends.

Lost my key in Glen Coe Around tea time Requested assistance was told no assistance available until the next day. No accommodation with vacancies nearby so had a cold night sleeping under a bush. Managed to get get key sorted without Start next day. Not a good service
