Jan Ciupek A good experience from start to finish. Took a little longer to fit than expected but the fitter was working in a small space. Salesperson and fitter were very courteous. Has changed our small bedroom into a lovely and useful dressing room.

Before asking for quotations, I went to the showrooms of three potential suppliers. Sharps was easily the best, with a good range of furniture on display and with a competent and helpful salesperson in attendance. I was surprised how bad the competitors showrooms were! The Sharps salesman couldn't have been more helpful, I know they are commission based but he certainly went the extra mile. I asked for early fitting, which he arranged for me with a single phone call to his manager. Having received quotes from the two company's I had decided to ask, I asked Sharps for a discount, which they weren't prepared to agree to but we did compromise on a good mid-point. I kits were delivered on time and the fitter turned up on the date specified. He worked very hard to get the wardrobes fitted in two bedrooms in the two days that had been estimated. He made a very good job of it, I have no problems with the standard of his workmanship or the quality of the wardrobes….. and the fitter hoovered up when he had finished and left the rooms perfectly clean and tidy. My only other comments are that one of the sliding doors came of its runner but was easily lifted up and back in place. I put this down to an over-enthusiastic teenager and not to an inherent problem with the units.

Sharps after service is diabolical they do not contact you. Had a new wardrobe fitted but part missing still waiting 4 weeks later for this to be rectified. Have phoned several times still waiting on an answer, when this is going to happen. There fitters are a joke they use people from Scotland to travel all the way down to London to fit a wardrobe. no wonder they charge so much.

We had a few quotes to fit out our walk-in wardrobe area and decided to go with Sharps which ended up with a good result but not without a slightly bumpy road to get there. We had the designer/salesman out to see us who drew up some designs following our quite well formed suggestions which at around 4 hours for the process took much longer than expected but that may be the normal amount of time but just be aware you are going to be required throughout that whole period. Like many other comments on this site, once we went to the next phase and the plans were reviewed by the design assessor and he informed us that the drawings just didn't work in the space we had available, which obviously hadn't changed since they were first measured as it was an empty room. The worst outcome was that the planned wardrobe dedicated to shoe storage with individually boxed off sections for each pair was not physically possible as they didn't make wooden divides thin enough to fit in 3 boxes per row. This was the key element that gave Sharps a USP over the other quotes to find out that it wasn't now possible was a big blow. The designs were redrawn with basically a shelf on each row with a central divide. It works practically but the visual effect of a high class shoe storage system was lost. There were also other points that just didn't work in the other design so it looked like the designs were drawn to ensure the sale rather and when I rang to complain I was put in touch to speak to the salesman directly which isn't really what I would expect. He had already got his commission and there didn't seem to be comeback on him from Sharps themselves so other than saying sorry I had to keep pushing it myself with the customer services. Although not as bad as some other experiences outlined here, it still took me a lot of effort to get just over £100 taken off the bill. The initial designer also told us that as we had a large room and the work was being carried out in a separate area of the room then we would be fine rolling the carpet back halfway back and storing the bed against the wall. When I rang to confirm the delivery date, I was told that this was all wrong and that the whole room would need to be cleared out including a super kingsize bed and mattress plus nearly 30 feet of rolled up carpet before the delivery could be made and that the gap between delivery and installation could be days. Fortunately I push this and obtained a compromise and got the scheduling prioritised to get the delivery and installation joined up. The installation phase of the process was excellent and the fitter was very knowledgeable, polite, tidy and efficient. He bought his own radio and tea making equipment so he was self contained and only bought us into the room when we needed to decide on a design feature. He also had the knowledge to identify where things on the plan would not work optimally in reality and discussed whether we wanted to make these changes which we accepted and are very happy with the results. It does seem a bit of a lottery of who we get assigned as to what your end result and customer experience is. Sharps don't seem to have installed a company wide standard of work and values which accounts for the wildly differing reviews. What does seem to be widely agreed is that once committed to using Sharps and having paid money, the customer services experience is less than optimal and is going to cost them business if it continues. Worst experience from the beginning to end. They cancelled installation once without any information. They delivered excess and installer confirmed me that they will take rubbish within 72 hours. It is been 5 weeks since installation, no one came to collect it. No coordination between departments. Very poor customer service. What so ever you complain about, they say we agreed in terms & conditions. You can't question them. Hopeless. Never buy from them.

Don't go with them!! They are pushy and quick to take your money but no after sale service! They leave you on the phone, cut you off and even the installations man cannot get through. Threaten to stop works due to their error e times. Very unprofessional in the way they handle customers, good at talking a professional service on the TV but don't deliver. After numerous emails regarding fitting issues we have had no correspondence which was promised. We are now 5 weeks since install and still nothing. We have emailed our concerns but seems to have been ignored. We have paid over £3,300 for laminated chip board, not what we expected. Wish we had read the reviews first, there are much more professional companies out there. Unprofessional company that are very good at taking your money. Take our advice, go somewhere else. Absolutely dreadful service from start to finish compounded by rude staff, under skilled sales people and no real connection between departments. Salesman came and consulted and drew a plan. Came back for sign up and said 2 day fit. Surveyor came on site and basically laughed at the salesman's drawing and redrew it stating a 3 day fit. Delivery guys came and seemingly threw what looked like a thousand boxes into the room, stated they were told the room would be empty. My wife and I subsequently had to move out of the room onto temporary beds in an attic room. Fitter arrived and stated he would be with us for a week. Day one the fitter started using our radio in the bedroom without asking. On one day we really needed to leave the house for work so he took it upon himself to go into our kitchen and make use of our tea/coffee and facilities, not a problem really but it would have been nice to be asked. Day four the fitter informed he was short of parts, so had to order them. (Important to point out he spent a couple hours checking inventory on day one) We paid every bill on time then Sharps started chasing us for a £500 balance using fairly obvious language around litigation possibilities. ( at this point we had complained about their service a number of times) Finally offered £100 off a £5300 bill as a gesture of goodwill. This was sent by recorded delivery with staff saying they had a signature - later they declared the letter had been returned to them undelivered and of course unsigned. This offer was increased to a full and final settlement of £150 off the bill. Derisory and in no way reflective of the inconvenience suffered with extra days off work and at times disgraceful bedside manner. Final product is good and well fitted but given a lousy customer journey we won't ever use Sharps again for anything.

Totally unacceptable customer service ! The think they can provide one weeks notice for a 4 day job plus a day for delivery . When time has to be booked off work . They are very quick to take your money but once the deposit is paid all customer service disappears. Do not order !!!!!!!!! Needless to say I am still waiting for a date on my delivery and my fitting

We had a Sharps designer come in and talk through our requirements for a suit of bedroom wardrobes, she was very helpful and the design was finalised to our satisfaction so we placed an order. After this a surveyor came in and initially contradicted just about everything we had been told by the designer but once we progressed further into the survey the relationship improved. It transpired that the surveyor also installed the wardrobes and I have to say that this was done to a very high standard and completely to our satidfaction. During the build we were kept completely informed of progress and expected completion time - it took about five days in all - and were asked questions when there were alternative ways of installing shelves and fittings. We have had the wardrobes in place for three months or so now and despite the occassional issue at the start are very happy with them and would use Sharps again.

I was very pleased with my daughters wardrobe in here bedroom and thought 4 months later would have exactly the same wardrobe in my room. But when the man came out and priced for it and do the drawings the quote was more for the same he said it was due to the high ceiling and he never put it on the last quote. One of the ladies at my work place at around the same time had a quote for wardrobes, bedside cabinets, dressing table chest of draws quote from sharps and her quote was so much better than mine. I think the quotes differ a lot. It seems.

We have had designers from Sharps to design a bedroom and an office. The bedroom designer took six hours one evening ! In both cases they were instantly dismissed as unworkable by their surveyor. They give up with the office design and gave us our deposit back. 'The computer says no' was their response, they are incapable of thinking out of the box. Don't forget they do not have backs to the wardrobes and they leave all their rubbish at your house. A three fit took five days. Never again will I use this company.

The service I received all through was very professional. The time scale was totally acceptable. The goods were deliveried by two very helpful men who carefully and with consideration, stored the items, ready for the carpenter to fit. His work in building the wardrobe was again with consideration and discussed the installation as he worked to ensure it was what I wanted. This is the second time I have used Sharpe and I would happily use them again. At the end of the installation, the area was left clean and tidy.

We are disgusted with the awful service offered by Sharps. I teach sewing and asked for a table to teach on. What was fitted would only accommodate 1 person and sewing machine. Sharps say they will remove this but have not given us a date. In the meantime I cannot work. We also have to find a table that matches the fitted cupboards which is proving difficult. Sharps customer services are extreemly rude when we call. Sharps say they will call back and do not. Sharps ignore our e.mails. We have given them until the end of the week to sort out the problems not only with the sewing room but also the office which has faults. We paid nearly £10,000 for this horrendous service and will be taking legal advice if we do not get a favourable response soon. Ann Devon

First time we have used Sharps but found them very professional in all aspects of our bedroom alterations. The Designer turned up on time on each occasion and really helped and advised us in getting the bedroom we wanted. The only problem we had was with the office who gave me a date for the work but logged it at their end for the day after. It didn't really matter too much. The fitter made an excellent job. We would definitely use Sharps again. Martin Osborne

Having had two fitted bedrooms from Sharps I decided that I would have fitted bedroom furniture from them also. The lady in Stevenage showroom was very helpful and knowledgable and made an appointment for a designer to visit. I already had a good idea of what I wanted, but the designer was able to make a few alterations that made better use of the space. The surveyor had obviously done installation work in the past and added a few practical tweaks to the plan. The fitter was methodical, tidy and clean and was happy to work into the evening to complete the job in one day. All of the sharps staff who came to the house were punctual and professional. The office did not do so well and we had to chase for dates and times when the various people would be arriving. As to the product, overall very good with just a couple of niggles. Firstly, the underside of the desk 'worktop' has a very sharp right angle edge, it would be much better if this was rounded slightly. Secondly, the worktop is only available with the printed grain running parallel to the front and back edges. Since I have a corner desk this means that the 'grain' runs in a different direction on one side. Ian Brunt

I would not use Sharps again. Their after sales customer service is appalling. They made a mess of the fitting in one bedroom and are now supposed to be coming back to correct it - another day of disruption, mess and expense for us. They call this 'guarantee' work - they have not supplied and fitted correctly, they have messed us about with the parts delivery and have not given any time for the fitter to arrive. When I phoned to complain I was accused of shouting at the person answering the phone (I did'nt - how many others have phoned to complain?) and when I spoke to the 'Customer Service Manager' she acted as though they are doing me a favour by correcting work they should have got right in the first place! When I asked what they are offering by way of compensation she said they don't give compensation. Don't touch Sharps with a barge pole.
