“I attended Scrivens in Alsager for the first time at 79 years old. I was greeted very nicely by the young lady on reception and she asked me to sit and wait. After half an hour I approached the desk to inquire what was happening as I had somewhere else to be being a farmer and animals don’t like waiting The young lady explained the Optician was having problems with his patient and I would be seen shortly. After what seemed like ages he ( the optician ) called me in. I was treated very abruptly and spoken to in a bad tempered manner and felt as I was 79 I must be an imbecile. I did nearly walk out but the thought of waiting somewhere else I stuck it out. On finishing my eye test I was dealt with by the receptionist who was superb and ordered my glasses. During this time the Optician ran out and came back with his takeaway lunch obviously hungry but no fault of mine. I have been contacted by Scrivens to return for an annual test and explained to the telephone inquirer why I am using Specsavers now. I hope that Scrivens now take me off their contact list and leave me alone at 81 years of age now. If you are a pensioner these people think they can talk down to you and treat you as an inferior person. I suggest to them I didn’t come from a terraced rented family home to make myself a multi millionaire without brains. DO NOT GO TO THIS BRANCH”

“Being disabled, I had to change my optician to a practice nearer to my home. Well, I have to say, the best move ever. Scrivens are so caring, professional, efficient. I include all members of staff from receptionist to optician. This last visit was particularly superb, I needed a temporary spectacles prescription until January, when I’ve had my 2nd cataract op and couldn’t be happier with the way I was dealt with. Thank you all.”

“I have been welcomed and had my hearing test initially by Charlie at Scrivens, Hillside,Skelton Yorks. I was then provided with a new N.H.S. Hearing Aid. After trial I had to see her again as I felt the Domes were too big and she was very helpful in replacing them for smaller ones. Unfortunately after trying these for 2 weeks I required still smaller replacements as I have bad whistling in right ear. On each occasion Charlie has been so friendly and welcoming, which makes all the difference.”

“i said at time i thought hearing aids were flimsy but was told to try them and come back, went back today, lady said cant do anything now for you. never going to scrivens again”

“After being a Scrivens customer for glasses for 3years I was offered a hearing test which I accepted. Haley at the Alfreton branch has been excellent giving good advice and then setting the aids up to suit me. I have visited for minor tweaks and nothing has been too much trouble, she even set my phone up to link with the aids. All the staff at Alfreton are really good, always welcoming, friendly and helpful, they even provided me with a cup of tea on a particularly cold day. I wish them all a good Christmas, they deserve it.”

“It's been a very good experience with the people I've met, unfortunately for the problems I have been experiencing there has been no possibility to mention them in the questionnaire. The battery does not stay in place so the connection is broken. It took ages to work it out.”

“Had my hearing test, which was fine. However, I was told that I would be referred to the specialist hearing services, which is run by my local hospital. After a week, I contacted the specialist service to see if I could make an appointment (as suggested by the hearing test person) to be told that they had not received my referral yet. I contacted Scrivens, who told me that the referral had been made via my GP. They also told me that it had been done again that day. I contacted my GP, who told me that they had not received any referral from Scrivens for me. I spoke to Scrivens the following day and it was confirmed that the referral had been made twice and also a printed letter had been sent. I asked if a letter could be sent to me and it was confirmed that one would be sent in the post and couldn't be sent by email due to security issues. I spoke again to my GP and they confirmed that they had not received anything from Scrivens. So I don't know who to believe now, but I am stuck in the middle of this having not had any treatment for a year. The ridiculous thing is that the hospital said that Scrivens could have referred me to them directly and not go through the GP. Whatever, the system said doesn't work and it is us poor service users who suffer. I am able to deal with it, but what would happen if it were someone not able to do that?”

“I went to collect my new glasses today and was served by Helen As soon as you step through the door it is such a nice welcoming atmosphere Helen was so helpful and her assistant Abby who is a nice friendly person worked well together Would definitely recommend them for optical or hearing needs”

“After noticing that my NHS hearing aids were not working properly, I made an appointment with Scrivens in Abingdon and explained the situation. The audiologist went through all the possible causes of my problem anf eventually found that my hearing aids needed adjustment. he was very thorough and solved the problem. Looking to the future, I asked about private hearing aids and he gave me all the information I needed. A brilliant service. 5*.”

“I have been using the Hythe branch of Scrivens for a number of years. They are unfailingly kind courteous and highly professional. Recently I had an issue after NHS cataract surgery and Bruce went out of his way to resolve it for me. I always feel well cared for and thank them all for their kindness. Scrivens should be proud of this fine team.”

“My wife and I had an audio test recently at the Rugeley branch . We are most impressed with the service we received . We would like to commend the audiologist Stuart for his excellent professionalism and his 45 year knowledge . He was able to explain what our hearing problems were in a very informative manner . Ben gave us a full demonstration on fitting , cleaning and after care . Highly recommended”

“Hannah King tested my hearing at The Windmill practice in Wymondham and also fitted me with new hearing aids. I would like to make the point that I thought she was outstanding in every respect, leading me in no doubt that I had been assessed thoroughly and fitted with the appropriate hearing aids.
