“I recently contacted Richardson and Starling in Edinburgh branch to get advice on a problem in the conservatory. Having used them in preference to other companies for a different issue a few years previously, I had no hesitation in going straight to them again this time. Malcolm, the surveyor, explained what remedial work would be required and what possible additional expense might be incurred eg a replacement window as the existing window was old and might break going back into the frame. The final bill was, in fact, exactly as quoted. Malcom very kindly returned to check an issue for me before the work started and this was much appreciated. Communication was very good from the first point of contact with the office staff and then with Malcolm and John, the Contracts Manager. Malky, who did the work, was absolutely excellent. I feel that Richardson and Starling provide a personal customer-focused service at reasonable prices and I have no hesitation in recommending them.”

“I was extremely pleased with the service provided by Malcolm and his team. Even when things didn’t quite go as planned they were quickly addressed without fuss. I was quoted a range of prices for the work from ridiculously low to extortionately high. Malcolm having clearly and knowledgeable explained what was required gives me confidence that only the work that was necessary was carried out and fairly priced.”

“I had a number of quotes to undertake some damp-proof works for my basement flat in Edinburgh. These ranged from the ridiculously overpriced (Wise Property Care) which included blatant unnecessary works to cheap quotes that would barely cover costs. I eventually settled on Richardson and Starling who provided an excellent overall package, including a detailed survey work and extensive pre-works communication, the project manager John who was always forthcoming and available for queries and Robin who undertook the work to an excellent standard. The professionalism by all concerned I found for this extensive works to my property provided a welcome peace of mind as I live abroad. The team I recommend wholeheartedly.”

“Contracted Richardson and Starling to sort out a flooring issue in our new home. Great service from the original call and survey to the work being completed. Kept informed about booking for the work and the technicians arrived on time and were really efficient, work done and left it all tidy. Thanks very much to Kev and Mike, felt mean not even being able to make them a cup of tea due COVID restrictions but at least we were able to get the work done, thank you to everyone involved from Arthur to Kev and Mike and all in between.”

“Employed Richardson&Starling to sort out a damp issue i had on a livingroom wall, Neil Ferries was the man in charge of works, from aberdeen office, work was carried out promptly and professionaly, tidied up after work completed, very pleased with work carried out.”

“Richardson and Starling came to assess the type of damp proof course for our basement area. They then carried out the necessary works and we now have a very dry feeling basement. At all times the workmen, surveyor and supervisors were courteous and took precautions re Covid Safety. The work was carried out to a high spec by Robin and Liam and the tidying up behind them was impressive. Overall I would recommend them for a job well done. Thank you.”

“We dealt with the Aberdeen office and had Neil, Tom and an excellent plasterer doing our work. The work was carried out efficiently and well. Neil and Tom took care to minimise the disruption to the Centre and were very pleasant and obliging. They cleaned up well after each day’s work and went the extra mile to ensure that the Centre was left in a good functioning condition over weekend and holiday periods. They and the company maintained good and pleasant communication throughout and co-operated well with our own surveyor. Altogether, working with Richardson and Starling has been a very positive experience and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future should the need arise.”

“I used Richardson and Starling (Dumfries) to treat some dampness in my living room. Kevin and Mike carried out the work and were very professional and polite. They explained what they were doing and why and hoovered the room before they left unfortunately they couldn’t accept a cup of tea because of Covid restrictions . I would certainly recommend Richard and Starling as a company.”

“Having had issues under our front stairs in the office for a while with water ingress Steven came and quoted for the job with a few options. Once the job was authorised Robbie did the work to a great standard and went above and beyond what I expected. The office staff were also brilliant at keeping me up to date with what was happening etc too. Thanks”

“We were very pleased by the work the Edinburgh branch of Richardson and Starling did in our lower ground floor. Robin and Liam worked well , respected the Covid rules - as did all the personal from the firm, and left a tidy space behind them every day. The end result looks good and am sure will do the job of keeping the area damp free. Any hitches were discussed and for round with no trouble and the experience we had was very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”

“We had a few different damp issues causing problems in our house. Chris came out to advise, was wonderful and friendly, and really spent time outlining fixes for all the problems, even beyond what the company themselves could deal with. Once we confirmed we were happy to proceed with the work, it commenced quickly, and Richard and Kevin, who came to do the work were friendly and helpful throughout, kept the upheaval to a minimum and even patched up a small hole elsewhere in the room for us while they were doing the other plastering, which was much appreciated. All of our dealings with R&S have shown them to be very professional and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.”

“I had a damp problem under the floor and arranged for a couple of companies to do a survey and advise me on what to do. The first company said I needed to have a chemical dpc injected into the walls and sent me a quote which only included one of the problem walls. Then Steven from Richardson and Starling came out and did a survey and let me know that the problem was not the damp proof course but was caused by condensation and could be alleviated by better ventilation and a membrane laid over the ground beneath. I have had the work done and all is dry and airy! I would definitely recommend Richardson and Starling as a company who you can rely on for an accurate survey and good advice.”

“We were very pleased. The work we had done was completed quickly, efficiently and tidily, including the replacement of a piece of curved skirting board which was executed perfectly - in fact it was an improvement on what was there originally. Also the original inspection was carried out almost immediately with very little waiting time until work commenced. Thank You!”
