“Unfortunately the planning office gave me little option but to use your service. I thought the cost was very high for the product, also the draw a line software very dated. I was only required to draw a line from the main road to my property which I could have shown on Googlemaps. The planning office would not accept this as they said Googlemaps wasn't to scale.”

“I bought a plan because it was classed as suitable for planning applications. However, the property was not marked on the plan. Customer support said that I needed to buy the plan again. Whilst I accept that I must have made a mistake I don't understand why I have to pay again. It does not cost them anything I'm using the same map data. It's just a sneaky way of charging me again.”

Dear customer thank you for your review. Every time a plan is purchased or even previewed on the website there is a charge for that. We try to provide a free preview of OS MasterMap to all our customers compared to most other suppliers who charge just for the preview even if it is for the same area (map data). Our plans are of course suitable for a planning application, but each plan requires a different outline depending on the project and the works that each customer needs to apply for and there are two previews before you purchase to make sure you have selected and outlined the correct area. “Bought a plan but clicked the wrong button to outline the boundaries. Couldn’t change it and if I needed the right one I would’ve had to buy another one 😡”

“Simple to use, and download plans in pdf and DWG. However, you are limited as to the area you want to pick. Furthermore, the price you pay is more expensive then other sites who provide a better service.”

“100% guarantee has loads of exclusions, so you're be luckly to get it. Also very limited, my planners want me to add TWO red boxes. Not possible with Buyamap.”

“I found it very confusing as a first time user. It was awkward to use. I had difficulty with putting in the co-ordinates. I went to Google maps and got the longitude and latitude but obviously these were rejected. Frustrating. Why couldn’t I just have a map that I could zoom in on and identify the area of interest with having to find out what the eastings and northings are? Then when drawing the envelope around the plot I wasn’t able to tweak it to make the outline more accurate. I opted for the colour version as I thought it meant my plot outline would show in red. I didn’t realise the rest of it would be blocked out in solid colour, heavy on printer ink. By this time there was no option to choose the non-colour option. The colour version printed out in black & white was too feint to be usable. Why not automatically provide both colour and non colour maps? Obviously if I needed to use this site again it would be easier but I can only review my actual experience. Conclusion: Not user friendly. Not intuitive. Will try OS next time.”

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We cannot allow free roaming around OS MasterMap as it is not allowed by the OS. The preview expenses would be very high. Also, all our plans come with a license to use so each copy has its own. You would need to get a license for each plan even if they are the same but in a different colour. There is the option to preview your map twice before purchasing in order to make sure you are getting the plan that you need. Regarding the first step which is searching for the area that you need you can also use a Postcode or latitude & longitude. Thank you Myles for providing a review. There are 3 steps that you need to take in order to create your plan and this are marked up as 1, 2, 3. Right after choosing the scale the next step is to add the lines should you need to. If you have purchased a map without them you can always add them on using a red pen. “No problem with plan, but website lets you draw on a plan and you then have to select to want to keep changes, which did mean my first plan came out blank - so I had to buy another plan. The tool for drawing boundaries is not that easy to use. But I did in the end manage to get a plan that did the job - at a price”

Dear Christopher please email us at support@buyaplan.co.uk with your issue and we'll be glad to assist you. You can preview your plan twice before purchase. The site will only deliver the plan you've added and previewed on the site. There is a preview option before purchasing while the item is still in your basket. You just need to click on the magnifying tool where it says ''Preview''. I hope this helps.

“I couldn't amend any of the lines I had drawn which was a shame, as I couldn't find anywhere to do it. Is this possible before you purchase the plan, as I don't want to spend some money on something that isn't correct because I couldn't amend it. Cheers Jamie Cambridge”

“On submitting the plan to my local Planning Department. They commented that it was not in the format that they wanted - the red line should only indicate the curtilage of my property and should not also indicate buildings within the curtilage, so I had to adapt it myself. If this was an issue of how I used your mapping function, then I suggest its use needs to be simplified”

“I considered this to be a "forced purchase" (required by my local council). Whilst the online service was efficient I did feel that the product / service was expensive considering that the end-product was delivered by email - somewhat taking advantage of the oligopolistic (monopolistic?) market position seemingly held by the vendor. You did ask for my opinion!”

“I bought a plan from you, and used the "red line" button. The red lines did not follow the boundaries of the property, but instead excluded my outbuildings from my land. I had to fix it manually after it was rejected by the Planning Office. Not very impressive! Morten Brinchmann”

Dear customer, thank you for taking the time to provide a review. The plan should cover an entire sheet of A4 if printed at 100% size. The map portion however is only a portion of this otherwise the scale would not be correct. We also need to display copyright information, location and licence details.

“I bought a plan and wanted the red outline of my property but this did not appear when uploaded depsite asking for that so I had to outline it in pen and save and copy it which was time consuming. The only way of obtaining this was to buy another which I was not prepared to do so disppointed with the service and not clear instructions for this.”

“Very frustrating website. Didn’t allow edits to be resubmitted (continuous buffer), despite trying on multiple computers. One plan was simply “lost” that we had spent hours on. Contacted help and they couldn’t retrieve this file. Very frustrating experience overall”
