“A useful site, which referred me to several suppliers of the part I needed (a van wing mirror, snapped off by a hit-and-run driver). I chose a supplier, and ordered the part that was offered, by phone. As my van is some years old, a 'used OEM' part was acceptable. I had arranged with my garage for the part to be sent direct to them for fitting at an already arranged van service. The supplier required payment by bank transfer, which was I suppose understandable as it was not being sent to a card-registered address. However, when I had paid by bank transfer I had a call from the supplier to say the 'used OEM' part being offered was too damaged to be usable, and all they could supply would be an aftermarket new version, at about £25 more. That made their original bid very uncompetitive by comparison with other offers, but as they had my money I had little choice but to order the expensive item. This was sent efficiently, very well wrapped, and my garage were able to fit it without any problems. So the experience was 'good in parts'. However, although the extra cost is not a real problem, I do not think that suppliers using the Parts Gateway system (which is, in itself, useful and efficient) should advertise, offer and take payment for an item which they then disclose is in unsaleable condition. Please do not identify me in this review.”
