Ordered a pot of paint Thursday, too late for next day delivery so I phoned to check it would be with me Saturday, was told yes. Checked late on Friday only to be told it would be sent 'sometime next week'. Cancelled the order, went elsewhere.

3 tins of Crown paint ordered on Tuesday morning, 2 tins arrived the next day with a written note saying one tin to follow, did not say when, called you on the Thursday to find out when it was been delivered and was advised it was coming that day. When I got home it had not arrived, called you again and was advised it had exploded in the van and it would be with me saturday, why had no one contacted me ? I had to call to find out where the paint was, all would have been well if my 3 tins had arrived on time my rating would of been very good.

Product not received at 30/12/15 following order on 27/12/15. Paint required by 1/1/16 so still holding out hope it will arrive next day delivery

We have written to the company with a complaint. We ordered torch-on mineral felt. After it arrived we tried to heat it on to a wooden base. The black solution bubbled through on to the surface ruining it. It was assumed that as it dried it would adhere to the wood. The following day the ruined felt fell off the base. It was clear they had not sent torch on felt which they had assured us they were sending. The whole process ruined our sandpit lid and needed to buy fresh felt and start again.

Asked for a phone call in response to a request was informed by first thing next day I would have word. 2 days later they decided to contact me

Took a long time to dispatch and with postage as well, it'll be a long time before I get it. Postage wasn't cheap, so expected a faster service than this.

It took 3 days to find out that you dont have a item in a stock and i ve been offered a cheper and worse one as a replace one.

Ordered 2 items and was charged separately for 2 lots of delivery charge at £4.99 each item. I would have considered that these items would be delivered together on the same shipment? As i needed both items really quickly i proceeded with placing my order at 3pm. Maxwells DIY website advises that ALL orders placed before 4pm would be delivered next working day. The next day i had still not received my order!! I contacted Maxwells DIY on 2 occasions by e-mail. I never received a reply from Customer Services or even a dispatch confirmation e-mail! The following day i received my order…in one single courier delivery. Cant fault Maxwells DIY prices but their delivery charges are excessive and their next working day delivery promise is not all it is promised to be….

Ordered Wednesday, Still not received the product l ordered, Hope the product is better than there service, A discount will not go a miss, It takes time and energy to build a good reputation and only seconds to lose it, Yours Sincerely Terence Bryant

ordered tins of ronseal paint, speed of delivery and price good , but packaging not good . Tins absolutely battered very lucky they havent burst . not good

Wrong item was delivered and then I had to wait until 4pm the following day for the wrong paint to be collected an the right one delivered.

I was in the back garden when the delivery took place. I had asked that the parcel should be put by the bins if I was out. The parcel was left on the door step in full view of the road.

Maxwells provides a very good and prompt service. They have a wide stock at reasonable prices and ship very quickly. The reason for the poor score is that they use UK Mail as a delivery service, who are completely useless. Maxwells promote next day delivery. This is what UK Mail always promise and say they have my delivery on its local van for delivery next day. This never happens. It is always next day plus one. I have no idea why. If you call up you get no explanation and don't call on a Saturday you just get a useless recorded message. The timings on deliveries also don't work, nor does the tracking system or promise of a text when you are the next delivery. Don't bother to email a question, they just wait until the delivery has finally happened and then send a "case closed" email. Stay away from UK Mail ; they can let your whole delivery promise and image down.

ordered item which on line page said was in stock- actually not in stock will not be delivered to Maxwells for 10 further days so by the time i get the item will around 3 weeks - very disappointed

I ordered a second lot of paint, this time to a new address. The order came promptly, but in two working days not one. However, one of the pots of paint was badly damaged and had spilled throughout the delivered box. This is understandable: delivering paint across the country can have its mishaps. What happened next is less understandable. First, I tried calling the Maxwells support number. I got a recorded message saying to try again later. I then tried the website contact form, and got a reply by email telling me that the replacement paint would be with me the next day (presumably 'working day', but not specified) , with a collection of the damaged pot. That was Thursday, and it's now Tuesday. I haven't heard anything since. Three hours ago I replied to the email that informed me about the replacement but haven't heard anything back. This makes me wonder if there's a staff shortage at Maxwells, or whether it's just run on a shoestring.

Ordered paint for next day delivery as it showed as in stock on the website, it never turned up so I called and it was out of stock. No communication from Maxwells whatsoever and it turned up a week late.

Hi there, no problems with Maxwells DIY in fact easy and pleasant to do business with. The product however was poorly manufactured and was supposed to be flush fitting which it wasn't as it has screw clamps on diagonal corners. The welding was poor and the product poorly formed and the galvanising was very patchy. I have used them but did subsequently find far superior ones that were truly flush fitting in a local timber merchant. I speak as a recently retired toolmaker with many, many years in manufacturing so I know what I am talking about. I would strongly recommend you re-source your post bolt downs as there are superior ones out there at a similar cost. Regards, Mike Dessi

Ordered paint sprayer Thurs 27/08/15. Paid £5.00 for next day delivery. Rec'd text from UK Mail confirming delivery Fri 29th. Carrier did not arrive! Lost whole weekend! Item arrived Tues 1st. Maxwell's, if you make promises for n/day delivery suggest you get a carrier that can live up to your expectations........ David

The courier couldn't find the address, despite guidance being given, and so delivery has been delayed from Friday to Tuesday which is not good.
