“I used them to arrange a mortgage on a holiday let. I'm actually a finance professional so could have easily done it myself, but decided I'd rather pay John Charcol as I needed to save the time. Thus I guess you could say I would be a pretty critical reviewer (and I rarely do reviews). John Charcol did what they said they'd do, explained the options on offer, kept me fully informed throughout the process, allocated a great account handler (Georgina) and just did a fantastic job! They were all highly professional and the money I spent having them sort it all out for me was well spent. I'd recommend them unreservedly.”

“We have been trying to arrange a buy to let mortgage for some months now. We need less than 50% funding for this purchase, we have 6 other properties (small studio flats) none with mortgages. At the start of the process we had all the usual hassle with the anti money laundering rules, not least of which because they only drip fed us what proofs they required. Each time the requested proofs were sent, they wrote sometimes weeks later to request yet more information and proof. Their explanation is that they don't know what the mortgage provider will want until they ask for it, so it would appear that either they have no knowledge of the mortgage provider or they just don't care. We finally got an offer of sorts only to be told today that the solicitors we use were not on their panel and we would need to use a different one. They have known from the outset who are solicitors are, they had everything ready to go two months ago to be told now that we need to use a different one is beyond belief. We have run up a bill with our solicitors of around £1000 and they now wish us to change. We have never used John Charcol before and have been apalled by the service they offer as "The country's Largest Mortgage Broker". They never keep us informed of what is going on, as usual with these sorts of organisations, only endless badgering by us produces results, not too bad if they were doing this for free, but they aren't. We certainly won't be using them again, a thouroughly bad experience.”

“We have just purchased our first home thanks to the stellar work of John Charcol, specifically Nigel Denmeade and Sandra Walsh. From the moment we put the offer in, Nigel's warm personality gave us reassurance that he would find us the very best deal for our first mortgage. The process was incredibly smooth with his guidance, and he quickly found a lender who was suitable. 3 months down the line when things were getting fraught, and we were given notice on our rented flat with only weeks to go before needing to complete, Sandra stepped in and rang our estate agent and solicitor to chase and we're convinced that had she not been so diligent and organised, we might not have been able to move as quickly as we did. We may have even been out of a home, but Sandra ensured this didn't happen. When you use a broker for a mortgage you expect a good service, but Nigel and Sandra were over and above what we could have expected; the personal touch was what made this process so successful for us. Even down to "happy packing" emails when it was all coming together, Nigel and Sandra gave us a really personal service and we'll never forget how much smoother they made the purchase of our first home. We would recommend them in a heartbeat.”

I was so relieved to speak Randeep who was positive, calm and very professional, took care to explain things carefully and found a lender for me to secure my purchase.
