“Hemel Shah from John Charcoal probably single handedly ensured that the purchase of my property went through. I live overseas and he kept me up to date constantly with updates and things to consider against a very tight deadline. He managed the estate agents and also the solicitors and also was very patient to my constant questions around the process, and throughout he made me feel at ease. I am certain with John Charcoal and in particular Hemel this transaction may never have materialised. I would certainly use him and this company again. Great Service”

“I can not speak too highly of the support that we received from our consultant was Randeep Sodhi from the Towergate offices. Our mortgage application was complicated by the vendors probate process and had it not been for the commitment and hard work that Randdep put into our mortgage application process we could easily have lost the property on a number of occasions. Randeep has secured an excellent mortgage which addresses our needs. I would be delighted to recommend him to my friends and colleagues”

“Lauren Wallder acted as my Mortgage consultant for my mortgage. I was likely a harder case than normal but Lauren sailed me through the process with utmost professionalism. She was very clear on the process, charges and paperwork that would be required and ensured that I had all to hand making it as painless as possible. She was also a delight to interact with and keep me informed as to the progress of my application at all times. Very efficient, very polite and definitely recommendable. I'll be coming back to Lauren and John Charcol next time round. Thanks!”

“I have been meaning to provide feedback on the wonderful service I have received from John Charcol in arranging my mortgage. Sarita Varma I would consider exceptional with the service she has provided and worthy of you knowing this from a client’s point of view. From the very first phone call I made, the consultation at your offices in London, to being sent the mortgage agreement and the follow up courtesy calls, she has been marvellous. I believe she has researched to find me the best offer possible, tailoring it to fit my individual needs. Not easy, as I am 57!! She has been very professional but also very friendly (and a good sense of humour!), and taken into consideration my personal situation. She even phoned me back on a Saturday morning! I have felt very reassured by Sarita and the advice she has given, as I have found organising my move after my mother’s death and doing this all on my own has been quite stressful and nerve wracking. I had hoped not to have to take out a mortgage but my buyer lowered his original offer!!. Sarita has provided me with very clear advice and a very clear breakdown of the product I am purchasing. So often this is not the case. I was very impressed with the prompt responses to all my questions, emails and phone calls. This is invaluable when one leads a very busy life as I do.”

“Nigel has been my mortgage advisor for the last 15 years. We have remortgaged a number of times and have a great working relationship. I hope to continue this in the future, for now I wanted to tell you just what a difference he has made to me and my family. I work in a fast paced industry which really is code for time poor! Nigel has accommodated this over the years by being responsive and adaptable to me and it feels like he makes it personal, adapting to what I need: he is terrific at emails, answers calls even if he is driving he answers and then arranges to call later, turns around information in a fast time period and has reduced my admin burden, (I really hate admin) he has been to my home, meet me in coffee shops, my offices, wherever I am he has made the personal effort to make it easy for me. He has carried out as much admin as he can and points to where I need to action and keeps it to a minimum. He is also very up to speed on his market knowledge giving me the very best product for my circumstances each and every time. He knows the details of each product so they can be compared. He is patient and extremely professional at all times, I am demanding as a customer and reasonably financially savvy, I want to check all the elements of a mortgage offer and sometimes I want a very fast turnaround other times I want to review the options. Nigel works through all of these maintains an upbeat can do approach and it is a pleasure to work together. I don't underestimate this quality I have worked with plenty of joyless souls. He exemplifies your brand and I would not hesitate to recommend Nigel.”

“Comment on service provided by Angela Darko. I heard about John Charcol from the BBC Radio 4 ‘Money Box’ programme, to which your Ray Boulger contributes regularly. As I had a specialist mortgage need, I felt it best to contact expert brokers. I had contacted you originally in January 2015, when a friend of my mother was considering going into sheltered housing and had a nice little house to sell. Although that lady changed her mind, I was impressed by the service you provided me then, and so when another, even more suitable, property came onto the market, I was quick to consult you. (You had kept in touch during 2015 and had told me that you would keep my file open.) As soon as I had viewed the property on 19 February, I made an offer, but time was of the essence, because of the increased Stamp Duty payable on second homes after 31 March. I sent off all the documents you needed for proof of identity, income and wealth, and these were turned around very promptly and returned to me – at this time you were not too well and I believe one of your colleagues came to the rescue and got this done for you. Even when you were off sick at home, you were able to pick up your emails and respond to me with a very fast turnaround, which was most impressive. You were then able to go patiently through the fact find with me, and gather all the information you needed; nothing was too much trouble. We had to use the John Charcol portal for some communications and I found that typical of such applications – clunky, inflexible, liable to freeze and generally user-unfriendly. Fortunately, you were always at the end of the email or phone to guide me. Given the shortage of time to complete, you helped me in two particular ways: firstly you were proactive with the rather pushy estate agent, confirming to her that I had the necessary funds to finance the purchase; and secondly you were able find a mortgage provider quickly, who was also able to arrange a valuation at short notice. You made very clear to me the charges that your firm would make and you collected them from me in a considerate manner. You assisted me in finding Unoccupancy Insurance by referring me to Mike Denbee of Bluefin, and you were able to chase up that busy gentleman on my behalf to ensure that I got the necessary quote in good time. You also directed me to Legal and General for mortgage protection life insurance, which is currently going through, subject to my GP’s report. I was doubly fortunate in finding a local firm of solicitors who acted for me with a similar efficiency, speed and personal service as you have provided. Together, you have enabled me to purchase by 31 March the property I had set my heart on. To summarise, I have been most impressed by the quality of personal service I have received from John Charcol. I have worked for well over 40 years in both the public and private sector, and now the charitable sector, and I have rarely, if ever, come across such a high standard of service. Mortgage transactions, by their nature, are serious matters; in this case, I was investing my life savings. Your personal commitment to help me was remarkable. If all the other employees of the company have a similar level of commitment, then it must indeed be an outstanding business. Tony S.”

“Fantastic service. I used you guys 6 years ago and you were very helpful then and you did not let me down now. My new case was a little unusual and I knew you guys would understand my circumstances and you took a special approach with the lender to put my points across. This bespoke service is well worth the money. You have an experienced team, knowledgeable and experts in mortgage lending and this really shows.
