Contents insurers can only be measured by experience when making a claim (I haven't made a claim for over 20 years), customer service, quality of communication and reasonableness on annual renewals. My experience so far is ok, but not great on the communication front. There were significant differences between the quote offered on a price comparison web site and the actual policy I paid for. Significant expensive endorsements (locks and alarm requirements) were applied in the small print and it took a long time to get written confirmation from Homeprotect that the measures we had put in place would be satisfactory. On the plus side, Homeprotect is covering a couple of family artworks that have been problematic with another insurer.

I have only just started my policy, and want to log in to check things but cant. I get a message telling me to click the link which sends an email that when I open it, tells me to click the link which sends me an email.......... and on and on. Tried the chat bot nonsense that tells me it wants to help but again keeps going round in circles, Very annoying. If I ever have to make a claim, I hope things work better than this.

I can't really comment upon the service of Homeprotect as I haven't needed to make a claim but as a policy it appears to match my requirement. But I was disappointed that the renewal quote was higher than that advertised on comparison websites (for the same level of protection). As far as I understand this should not happen under the current regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). So I "renewed" by taking out a new policy. That is fine but it is an additional hassle that should happen.

Unless you make a claim very little to mention but renewal quote similar to search engine quotes for similar coverage.

all they have done is taken money from me, this is easy and they ask fora review ?? I can only say average and this is generous, taking money from people isn't difficult. Hopefully I don't need to make a claim, the insurance industry does not have a good reputation but I'm obliged to engage with them, its a condition of my mortgage. 🤦‍♂️

I was very pleased with the price of the policy, but I had to make a last minute change and I am still waiting for my correct policy documents and price. I have been waiting 3 weeks and have called but no-one can help.

Was disappointed that my rewnewal had increased by 20%. Rang them up to discuss this and got a cheaper revised price, with a slight alteration to my policy. I get so fed up of having to do this, why can't companies give customers who remain with them a good price for their loyalty? I've not had a claim as yet so can't comment on that side of things.

New to this provider. in Compare the market top 3 on price, and quite easy to complete the process on line. Of course you never know the quality until a claim arises.

A good price, hence three stars, but a very tortuous process. Because I run a small business I had to speak to someone in person, which was fine, but then I wanted to compare prices before I went ahead. None of the details of my quote, including the price, were saved, waiting times on hold were dreadful, I was promised a call back which never happened, most people I spoke to were helpful when I eventually got through, but one didn't have a clue. Policy details were not emailed out straight away as promised. The whole process meant me spending most of two days queuing on the phone. Just not acceptable.

I bought the policy online, for a competitive price. It’s features suited me best out of what was available. However, I found some of the many caveats could prove extremely frustrating. For example, ‘Accidental Damage Cover’ doesn’t cover accidental damage to certain items in certain conditions, or restrictions on how the contents cover amount is made up in the event of a claim - only X% can be valuables that don’t need to be individually named. It’s so irritating, especially when I know that the total value of my possessions should fall well within the total sum insured. It’s just another example of insurance companies trying to restrict payouts. I really hope that I never need to use this insurance.

Reasonable customer service. Price was better in first year and therefore no loyalty discount even with no claims in 30 years. Couldn't get me a better price, which is a shame.

Product seems fine but why no warning of renewal? First I knew was when the money was removed from my account. No e mail, no letter, frustrating.
