I thought I got good insurance but then realised a mistake after purchasing. When I phoned sainsburys about it they increased the price considerably. So I said I didn’t want it and they charged me £20 for nothing!!

Hello, Thank you for your review and I’m sorry the prices you received are too expensive. As we are a comparison website, we don’t actually calculate any prices. The prices displayed on your results page are all calculated and returned by our panel of insurance providers, based on the information you entered on our website. They work out the premium based on claims statistics gathered for other drivers with similar details and some insurers do change their rates frequently. If you would like to query any of your prices, we would recommend calling the insurer directly and they should be able to explain this to you in more detail. I hope this helps. Chose the quote for Hastings Premium and got to the point of paying when World Pay wanted to send me a OTP. Problem:- They sent it to a phone that was discontinued three years ago. I could not get Hastings to talk to me so was unable to complete the purchase. As far as Confused.com was concerned it was not their fault. It just indicates what the problems are when people we are buying goods from do not have person to person contacts for problems.

Having completed all details including payment I received a 'Sorry, something has gone wrong' alert. I then began again at the beginning including paying with a different card (all of which were in credit). Once again received the same message. ! then completed a THIRD application ( different card again) which was accepted. I then went to MY ACCOUNT on Hastings site to find I now had TWO accepted policies which had been paid for. I therefore contacted Hastings direct who, with no fuss and bother cancelled the two 'Essential' policies and renewed my existing 'Direct' policy at only a slightly higher price (£5.00 approx). In addition they have already refunded my overpayments. CONFUSED. com. I certainly was, but not any more. Next time I'll go direct. Regards, Alan Parsons

I was bombarded with emails from Confused.com telling me that my home insurance was expiring, so I took out a new policy only to receive an email from my insurer querying why I had bought another policy when my existing policy doesn't run out until October. This was in April! Moral=don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I selected an option that made it clear the quote was for a second home. When I was transferred to the provider's website it stated the quote was not applicable for a second home. I called the provider and they stated that they do not provide cover for second homes. Therefore they should not have appeared in the list of providers. It was a complete waste of my time as the same thing happened with the second company I chose.

I put all my details on the search website - including some named items, with values and detailed descriptions but when I looked at the quotes from the insurance companies these items were not included. When I added them the price was a lot more expensive. It was a very time consuming and frustrating procedure. The quotes given should be for the information a person puts in otherwise there is no point putting it in the first place. I might as well visit each site individually. To summarise it was a total waste of my time using the comparison site. I won’t use it again.

Having gone through and answered the questions I still had to contact the chosen insurer by phone only to be told that they would not insure a second home unless the primary residence was also insured with them. Tried two others, filled in the forms, spoke to the insurers and had exactly the same. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. This should have been made clear before having to waste more time contacting the insurers.
