“No issues whatsoever with the broker who have provided a very good service. Easy to contact and helpful, knowledgeable staff. I have though, an issue with Go compare. After entering my details I received the usual comparison list. No problem with this and I proceeded with the City insurance group as this was the best quote. However, I then received notification from Experian that that there had been a large number of credit searches against me. Upon investigation they were all linked to this Go Compare comparison and had the effect of reducing my credit score by a considerable amount. Had I been applying for a mortgage or loan at the same time, this could have had a seriously negative effect - I would therefore be very reluctant to use Go Compare in the future.”

“What kind of insurance company doesn't let you see a summary of cover, let alone a policy wording document before handing over your card details?! Insurance contracts are complex and seemingly designed to avoid paying out, and with this company they won't even let you see it before you give them money?! haha!”

“My husband last year was a named driver on my car. In May 2023 he had a totally unavoidable accident hitting a deer in his car on a country road in darkness. This resulted in a "fault" claim because he clearly could not claim against the deer. To keep him as a named driver on my car added over 450 pounds to my premium which is outrageous. He is no longer a named driver. We are both appalled by this issue so it is impossible to rate your company.”

Dear Mrs Bracey, Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear about this - City Insurance is a broker and offers a variety of insurance products to suit individuals' needs. As a broker, we do not control the price and unfortunately, as the accident earlier this year did not involve a third party, the insurer settled the claim against the named driver which will affect premiums. I can see my colleague carried out a full review of the policy with you and was able to source a cheaper alternative with another insurer, albeit without the named driver mentioned, which you accepted. “City Insurance started off well when they came up on the search engine site, but unfortunately fell extremely short when it came to purchasing the product and the price had risen by a considerable amount from the quote, not as much as others I may add but still misleading customers!”

“This company gets a one start only because I cannot give zero stars. I took out a car policy 4 days ago but decided to cancel only to be told there is a £50 cancellation fee, even within the cooling off period no other company i know off does this, how completely ridiculous. should have known better than to go with a company I never heard of before.”

Dear Mr, Keenan, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear of your displeasure on this occasion. I note from our records, you opted to purchase this policy online to which you answer all questions via an aggregator. Prior to purchase, you are presented with the terms of business to read and accept, which does explain that a £50 charge is applicable should you wish to cancel the policy. When you spoke with our team, I understand the reason for cancellation is due to taking another alternative quotation which was cheaper, this being 4 days later from our purchase. You will find it common place, for insurers and brokers alike who trade via aggregators to have a cancellation charge due to the number of costs incurred as a result of the acquisition of that piece of business. The charges within the cooling off period, are reduced from our normal terms and only pay 'some' of those acquisition costs. Again, I am sorry to hear of your displeasure and would be happy to look at our policy again if you would be open to having another conversation, I can be contacted on 01962 844848. “The worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. Just want to take your money. Cancelled my policy without any notification to myself, driving around for a week with no insurance. Please please please do not use this broker company.”
