“You don't really know how good an insurance company is until you have to make a claim. But so far, as a new customer, they seem efficient and good at keeping me up to date with what is happening with my policy.”

Dear Mr Naylor, Thank you for your review. We will always do our best to find you the most competitive price and as part of our renewal process, we invite renewals at least 21 days before renewal. From time to time, rates do fluctuate in that period and I am pleased to see that my colleague reviewed the renewal when you recently called the office. On this occasion, when checked again, the rate was reduced by £30.00 since our initial invite which we duly offered to you. Thank you for accepting and renewing with us again. “A bit of messing about to get cover for my no claims but the gent on the other end of the phone sorted it out and rang back as he said he would. Could do with the option of no claims cover when you send your new quote through but otherwise happy customer”

“My husband last year was a named driver on my car. In May 2023 he had a totally unavoidable accident hitting a deer in his car on a country road in darkness. This resulted in a "fault" claim because he clearly could not claim against the deer. To keep him as a named driver on my car added over 450 pounds to my premium which is outrageous. He is no longer a named driver. We are both appalled by this issue so it is impossible to rate your company.”

Dear Mrs Bracey, Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear about this - City Insurance is a broker and offers a variety of insurance products to suit individuals' needs. As a broker, we do not control the price and unfortunately, as the accident earlier this year did not involve a third party, the insurer settled the claim against the named driver which will affect premiums. I can see my colleague carried out a full review of the policy with you and was able to source a cheaper alternative with another insurer, albeit without the named driver mentioned, which you accepted. “With regard to car insurance i think City Insurance are first rate. My wife and I have saved a lot of money in recent years thanks to City. We found them because we were compelled to move from Prudential on one of the cars. Since then we have moved the other two across as the Pru oddly gave up on insuring cars. They assumed we would transfer automatically to one they were promoting as the alternative. Poor service from them after several decades with them. I can't comment on other insurance as I did ask for a quote but City didn't get back to me. My wife and I use both email and telephone to communicate. Your survey - below - only allows for one box to be ticked. The response time has varied considerably. The first time was quick.”
