I wasn’t treated fairly. After paying my insurance for years without having had any accidents you failed to act honestly

City Insurance started off well when they came up on the search engine site, but unfortunately fell extremely short when it came to purchasing the product and the price had risen by a considerable amount from the quote, not as much as others I may add but still misleading customers!

Brilliant Insurance group to begin with, charged me £300 for my 2.0 Litre Honda car. I changed my car to a 1.4 Litre car & was quoted whooping £ 1300. I still had 4 months of insurance left on Honda car. I didn't get back a single penny on cancellation of my Honda car. You have been warned, stay well clear of this company.

Dear Mr Champaneri, We are sorry you were not satisfied. We have on record that you were quoted an additional £332 to change your vehicle from a 1992 old Honda worth £2,000 to a 2019 Suzuki Vitara worth £15,000. So moving from a very old, low value car to a nearly new much higher value vehicle unsurprisingly increased your risk. Please note that we also reduced your cancellation fee in this instance to prevent you from owing us any money. Ultimately everything was in your best interest. Kind regards, City Insurance

Originally City Insurance had a competitive cost for insurance on a 1998 Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6, but when changing car to a USA import Fiat 124 Spider they could not provide insurance cover for the classic car. This car was already insured in the UK with LV. On trying to insure my Smart ForTwo a week later, their cost was twice of the mainstream comparison sites. So based on this I would not use them again, as I change cars and don't like the loss of insurance premium as a result of them not being able to provide insurance or being competitive.

oker who signed me up; a good guy. However, when I had to call for an emergency breakdown recovery that was a whole other story -despite me blocking the A$, I waited over THREE HOURS!!! City's preferred breakdown people screwed up v badly, advised incorrectly by City. And City Ins tried to avoid blame and responsibility - it was disingenuous and deeply disappointing to encounter intransigence and individuals treating me like an idiot. I'd not renew this insurance policy again: similarly, when I had my car broken into, it seems I was only insured for £150 - if I claimed even this tiny amount, I was told by Aegis 'You would lose all your nine years no claim bonus' (sic)- I wasn't aware that I had nine years; if so, my insurance should be much, much cheaper – shouldn't it? So somebody isn't being entirely straight with me - it's for this reason I fear that I can give only two stars. If it had been Paul dealing with the case, it might have been a better outcome, but I did not like the way Aegis handles either of these two cases, and I'd be v pushed to recommend this motor insurance policy to anyone. Be great if an employee of City reading this review would call me and ask me to 'unpack' my two bad experiences (without arguing with me: reading from a crude script or ill-thought-out defensive and avoidance patterns). V disappointing John H.

Dear Mrs Stevens, We are sorry you are not happy with your breakdown cover. Whilst we do sympathise with your situation, we did explain the different levels of breakdown cover available and you elected for the most basic option. For an additional £10 with the 'UK & Home' option you would have been covered for at your home address. Best regards, City Insurance

Having bought my insurance and paid for it, I was asked to send over all my information including v5 and driving licence once I did this I was asked 2 more times to send documents as they said they hadn't got it which they had, it was found that there was a very small. Anomalie with the information of my vehicle purchase date and this then made them charge me and extra £69 somethi gnpoinds making my policy more expensive than previous insurance. The customer service wasn't helpful at all and a poor show all round will jot be renewing next year even if they are the best priced

Dear Mr Hardy, We are sorry you are not pleased with your policy. Unfortunately the purchase date of your vehicle is a rating factor. Had you entered the correct purchase date in the first place, you would have seen a higher premium. It would have then been your decision whether to take out the policy this rate. Best regards, City Insurance

I missed a reminder about the car insurance as I was away and they refused to give me the discount I would have got when I made contact - said I was too late so I had to renew at greater expense but will think twice before renewing next year - the agent was NOT helpful or sympathetic.

I was a little disappointed as I had to pay extra fees to cover a fraudulent claim other than that it was ok

Make sure you send documents asked for I couldn’t get my no claims bonus from previous supplier so was asked for another £140 for 1 years no claims missing from city which is a pain but not there fault yet I paid £136 up front they took next months DD and cancelled policy day after all in all £190 + for 1 month just another company grabbing as much as they can managed to get my insurance cheaper elsewhere so no hard feeling just shop around makes sense

Mis sold breakdown cover, costing me £50.00 more than any other insurance group would have charged.

I’m just gobsmacked that I was charged extra for which was termed as a high risk area- and then market related when we gave our new address 4 miles from where we lived. How is this justified? It unacceptable!

Dear Mrs Coetzee, We are sorry you are not fully satisfied. Each area has a different risk rating and this is carefully calculated using a number of factors. We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail. Best regards, City Insurance

Not happy as after only 4 minutes of missing a phone call an email was sent to the local licensing authorities telling them that my insurance was being cancelled at the end of the week. Will definitely be using another company even if I have to pay slightly more next time.

Dear Mr Thomas, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We would be sorry to lose you as a customer, but check all clients purchases made online to ensure that all questions have been answered correctly and that they are adequately covered. We do not have any contact with the local licensing authorities. Best regards, City Insurance
