I ordered a £170 pair of boots, when they arrived it looked like they had been previously returned and just thrown into the box without the packaging.

Thank you for your review, I apologise sincerely that you have received shoes with no packaging. We do have returns which are re sent, a customer may have ordered 2 sizes to check for fit and return one pair. Love the look of these boots, but I find the outer soles incredibly slippy. Even just on a normal supermarket floor, I am finding it hard not to slip.

I had to send the boots back becasue they weren't as described on the website. They had elastic inserts which I don't like.

I returned a pair of shoes on the 11th of October computer wasn't working I am still waiting for a refund of £75

I have bought Gabor shoes for so many years. I always depend on the quality and durability and of course style. However, the boots I recently bought had to be returned. They are beautiful boots, but I could not get the left boot over my instep. The width of boot in the leg was fine. Will you please consider all your wide fitting customers. There are a lot of us out there. I notice you do slim fitting and medium fitting, how about catering for your wide fitting customers. It cost me a small fortune to return the boots to you. I dare not risk ordering others. The nearest Clinkard shop for me is 35 miles away. You closed my Cambridge branch!!

We do have the boots that you ordered coming in again soon in the next size up which you may find gives you more room within the shoe area. I'm really pleased with the Josef Siebel boots I bought online from Charles Clinkard. I've had the same boots previously so I knew they would be both smart and comfortable. The website is easy to use and the delivery was quite speedy. The reason I have only given 3 stars is that if the boots had not been suitable, for whatever reason, I would have to pay for returning them. In this age of free returns service offered by many companies, I find this perplexing, and would certainly not buy shoes/boots from Charles Clinkard unless I was certain they would fit me.

Thank you for your review. We do deliver free of charge, and if an exchange is needed, we cover the cost of delivery to the customer again. We do as you are aware ask the customer to cover the cost of return, or take back to a Charles Clinkard store. We allow up to 365 days so long as the item is unworn. There is a link on our website where for a discounted price of £3.20 you can buy a Royal Mail tracked label, or if you have a lot of items to send, you can buy a label again at a discounted price with Collect + which costs £4.45 and covers up to 10 kilo. I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. It's always been the customers responsibility to cover the cost of returning an item in the post, as in most cases you don't pay for the item to be shipped to you. That said, we recently have added a portal to our website where you can purchase reduced-cost Royal Mail labels to send your items back to us. This costs as little as £3.20. The shoes arrived boxed but one of the shoes was was scratched on the top leather I managed to polish it out so that it isn’t noticeable. Although I ordered the same size as my existing pair (45) these are are slightly larger and therefore loose so I have had to put an additional insole in the shoes to keep them on. I like the style of the shoes just a shame about the size inconsistency.

Our customer service team on 0345 241 7742 would have been happy to exchange these for you should you have needed, however they should have been checked before dispatch and I am sorry that they were sent out like this. We sell many different brands of shoes, and they can differ slightly in size. The same brand (unless it is a different width) should measure the same length. After Covid, finding shoe shops that you can actually go to and try on shoes becomes a rarity. I’m pleased that Clinkard is still open as a shop. However, the policy seems to have changed whereby Clinkard hold very little stock in store now, and in order to just try on different sizes you actually have to buy the shoes online, before you can try them. And in my case invariably return them. This is such a disappointment, a waste of my time and money. Your website is great, I just wish you had more of these shoes actually in store - and in more sizes. I understand you’re doing it because of a drive to hold minimal stock, but it puts the financial pressure back on to the customer and it is a deterrent for me.

The shoes I ordered were not as in the photo, with the material shiny and not matt. Also the metal clips a gold colouring over brass, which has rubbed off; so, I get green marks on my feet. As these are just for holidays, I have accepted but would expect better for the price.

These were lovely boots. Soft and comfortable but the zip is stuck on one of the pair. I've tried everything to unfasten it, but it won't budge. I can still wear them by undoing the laces, but this is less convenient. I would send them back but you don't do free returns, which is a shame when goods are faulty. Bit disappointed as the boots were not cheap!

Thank you for your review. We have a free standard delivery service which gives a dispatch window of 2 to 5 working days. This means that if the shoe is not in our warehouse, we have time to get the stock to us from one of our retail outlets and forward the order on to you. The maximum time would be 6 working days from ordering to you receiving, but it could be sooner. We do have an express service at £3.99 which guarantees a dispatch witihin 3 working days and you would have the shoes within 4 working days. Again this is the latest it would be with you, and could be sooner. Next day at £5.99 is also available on some items, but the item has to be in our main warehouse for us to be able to do this so that we can prioritise the order, pick, pack and dispatch on the same day as ordering so long as the order was placed before 5pm. Children’s shoes in store old stock 2 years old still full price… inaccurate measurement by 1 member of staff. Other member of staff excellent measuring and accurate information and help given. Mixed experience

With regard to the shoe prices, we do replenish stock as it sells, if you have found an older style, it is still new stock. We do have sales at certain times of year and you may find that at sale times, you can get shoes at a lower price. Ordering process was fine, however having received notification that the order was on the way I expected a call from your branch in Wetherby. Having heard nothing for a week I went into the branch to be told by a very officious assistant that a message had been left - there's none on any of my phone numbers. Maybe the customer is right on some occasions, and maybe the customer doesn't really want a fight, just the shoes they had ordered and paid for.

In the process of payment, I paid £3.99 for a fast delivery to receive my parcels instead of Friday on Thursday. But my parcels arrived on Friday I contacted customer service and they just apologised and said it was because of bank holiday Monday. This could have been updated on the payment process, it didn’t. But I had to pay the extra price of £3.99 for nothing. I am happy with my purchase but I believe Clinkard’s customer service isn’t fit for its purpose.

Thank you for your review. Express delivery means a delivery within 4 working days. It does state on our website that weekends and Bank Holidays are not counted as working days. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the delivery time, but your order did go out on time and was with you in the 4 working days stated. Standard delivery which is free, would mean a delivery within 6 working days, so could have been the Tuesday following before you received the order. Vert disappointed. Order arrived promptly but wrong size had been sent. When i rang to ask for a free returns as the problem was not my fault, I did get a free returns label but my size was no longer available

Ordered shoes in 2 sizes as unsure of the fit. Some brands are not true to size. I kept the smaller size but had to pay for return of shoes that didn’t fit. Not happy ..

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the returns service. We do deliver orders of over £40 free of charge, but do ask customers to cover the cost of returns or take back to a Charles Clinkard store. There is a link on our website where for £4.49 you can purchase a tracked return label which covers up to 10 kilo with Collect + so would cover all of the pairs that you were returning if you wrapped them together, I am sorry if you did not see this. There is also a link to Royal Mail where for £3.20 you can also buy a tracked label for smaller orders to be returned. I do hope that this information is of help for future reference. My shoes arrived and they were completely the wrong ones! I contacted customer services and they suggested I had to print off a label to return them and then I would get the shoes I ordered. Not very happy with that answer so in the end they did send them along with a label to return the others which I will have to go and post. Didn’t feel they were bothered as the issue wasn’t anything I had done, left disappointed.
