After attending a Rocky Mountaineer presentation, I was introduced to Laura who guided me through a proposed visit to Canada including an Alaska Cruise. Because of her enthusiasm, I booked right away. After a couple of days studing the itinerary, I went back to the store and proposed a few alterations. This was no problem to Laura who made the necessary changes there and then. Everything went smoothly, I enjoyed the coach trip from Banff to Jasper with an excellent guide /driver. I stayed at The Sawridge Inn in Jasper and found the staff efficient and very helpful. The Rocky Mountaineer was excellent, great staff, food and views. Transfer to and from the hotel in Kamloops first class. The cruise was with my preferred cruise line, Norwegian, and was up to its usual extremely high standard. My preferred shore excursion was the mini coach tip to The Yukon. Again a frirst class driver/guide, Paul. There were no problems from start to finish although I did not enjoy the return BA Flight from Seattle to London as the seats were to close together. I would recommend Barrhead Travel for all holidays but especially their Canada specialists. Thak you. Hugh

The whole holiday was so well planned - it involved flights, cruise, taxis and hotels and all went so smoothly. This was all due to Hannah who took so much trouble sending information etc much more than I have experienced at other travel agents - I will definitely be using Barr Head Travel again. Thank you Hannah and all other staff who I spoke to nothing was too much trouble

I have used Barr Travel on two occasions to take two very different holidays in Canada. I have found Craig to be helpful and very efficient and have been guided to places that as an active retired couple met our needs. Our most recent trip as independant travellers took as to some amazing hotels with terrific views over mountains, rivers and the ocean. More importantly we were within walking distance to some really good trails and opportunities to visit small museums and take trips on the sea and in the sky. With everything planned by Barr Travel we have enjoyed being independant but have had confidence in the hotels and areas they have recommended. Our trip took us to Vancouver, Whistler, Campbell River, Ucluelet and Victoria leaving from and returning to our local airport of Norwich.

This was the best travel service I have ever experienced. From the beginning the attention to detail and customer service from Natalie was superb, I was kept updated regularly and received regular emails and phone calls to check that we were happy with the planned arrangements. Our travel documents arrived well in advance, which was very reassuring. Our holiday to Vancouver Island, a cruise to Alaska, time in Vancouver and then travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff returning to the UK via Calgary was fabulous and everything went according to plan. The whole trip was exactly what we hoped for, thanks Natalie you did a brilliant job.

Dear Canada Team, We have recently returned from a wonderful holiday to Canada - The Rocky Mountains, (Rocky Mountaineer train) and Alaskan Cruise (Holland America Line Ms Volendam) Everything was very well organised - right down to the smallest detail, so a very big thank you to all your dedicated team. We will certainly recommend Barrhead Travel to all our family and friends.

this really was a holiday to remember and was made even more special by the fact that Adla had gone out of her way to inform hotels and Rocky Mountaineer that it was my birthday . Got a free upgrade to a suite in Jasper and a birthday cake on the train ! This was the icing on the cake (forgive the pun) . Fully recommend this company to anyone looking for a trouble free and refreshingly exciting holiday . Well done !!

This was by far the best travel service I have ever experienced. From the outset the attention to detail and customer service was excellent; I was kept updated regularly and received regular emails and phone calls to check that we were happy with the planned arrangements. Our travel documents arrived well in advance, which was very reassuring. Our holiday to Vancouver including recommended 4* hotel accommodation, a cruise to Alaska and then travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff returning to the UK via Calgary was fabulous and everything went according to plan. I will definitely use this service again and would recommend them to all my friends and family. A special mention to Adla, who guided me through the best options available to us. The whole trip was exactly what we hoped for and more.

The logistics of the holiday were superbly put together, and everything went according to the busy itinerary we had. With the exception of The Chelsea Hotel in Toronto - which was a change to the original plan, and which we found to be very impersonal, staff not particularly helpful or friendly, and the rooms were 'very tired' - the hotels were all very good. We would definitely use Barrhead Travel for future holidays.

Excellent organisation and competent service. Our visit to Vancouver returning from Calgary was very good, a few downsides though: Deer Lodge at Lake Louise....Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed! We had a room upgrade as they were running late, if that was an upgrade I wouldn't want a standard room there! All other hotels were superb! Other grumble was Avis rent a car:We suffered a tyre blowout in the middle of nowhere, made it to a phone & called their emergency number.....told to return car to whistler (200 miles away), when I pointed out we were nearer to Kamloops they said to find a Canada tyre depot in Kamloops and get it sorted and Avis would refund. This we did and we are still awaiting our refund! Maybe other hire operators offer better back up? Hannah was brilliant in the organisation and keeping us updated prior to our holiday.

This Company is amazing, very helpful and can't do enough for you, I must make a special mention to Natalie Stewart, everything was faultless. The Stampede, Bamff, Rocky Mountsineer out of this world and has to be experienced to fully understand what a truly 1st class couple of days can offer you. Only flaw was the "Safari" trip... 2 wasted hours in a mini bus.... 10mins before the end the driver shrieked to a halt .... Reversed .. Wow we all thought.... A bear at last.... No .. It was a blackbird in a tree she had spotted!!! It's not guaranteed Bears will be found but more thought is needed to make the drive more fun at least. Would always use this company for future trips.

Nova Scotia does not jump out as an obvious holiday ot from the UK. I had been to Halifax in the winter on business and had worked and had holidays on the west coast and Ottawa, so I quite fancied Nova Scotia. What sealed the deal was a five hour direct flight from Glasgow to Halifax by WestJet. WestJet is a budget airline, where you have to purchase refreshments and booze, but with flight out T 09:30 am to 12:00 local times and 10:45 pm to 08:00 next day this was not an issue. Took Boots meal deal for trip out and dozed on return. It turned out Barr Travel were agents and once I checked their web sites I found they had just the I dependant tour I fancied for wife and I, Whales, wine and Whiskey over 14 nights, included basic hire car, was totally adequate, hotels, some breakfasts, whale watching trip, and and annual pass to the national heritage sites and parks. Booking was straight forward. We started with two nights in Halifax, then mostly one nights to circumnavigate the coast and Cape Breton. The exception was two nights at Digbyto allow Whale Watching, unfortunately on our trip they were having a day out of site, and two nights at Ingonish to explore the Cabot Trail, a 300 kilometre circular drive with stunning coastal and mountain views. Daily drives were relaxed as the roads are so quiet, in fact driving was a pleasure. On arrival at the first hotel there was a information pack waiting, this A4 folder contained daily route maps and town maps to locate the hotels, Rough Guide to Canada, vouchers, itinary which gave advice and places of interest on route, and the Discovery Pass, it was excellent. Hotels were beyond fault, modern city centre in Halifax, heritage hotels, one with four poster bed and cabin resorts. All top quality and welcoming. Food choices was wide, fine dining, homely family restaurants and food on the go from the famous Tim Horton's coffee and doughnut outlets. If you like sea food, no where better, lobster, scallops, salmon and for me tastey step sirloin steaks. We rounded the trip off with a second two nights in Halifax. With Nova Svotia on the same latitude as the France/Spain boarder temperatures were low to mid 20's even when it rains. Could not recommend the holiday more!

From: djb@talk21.com [djb@talk21.com] Sent: 13 July 2015 12:20 To: Laura Robertson Subject: Holiday to Canada Hi Laura, thanks for your message regarding our holiday to Canada. It was amazing! Everything went like clockwork. Our hotel in Vancouver, the Georgian Court was lovely and so were the staff. The food from the in house restaurant was really good too. You were right about the ship, it was great. I think having the balcony, for us, was issential. Fantastic watching the world go by with a drink in your hand and the sun on your face! Our room and shower room were lovely, bed really comfy. We slept with our balcony open as it was quite warm. We were lucky to get the ultimate drinks package included. However if I had paid for it I would have been very annoyed that water in your room was not included! As it wasn't in the mini bar we assumed it was free. The onboard entertainment was good, typical cruise ship shows. The food in the restaurant was of a good standard. The buffet was a bit of a cattle market, definately not for us! The portion size in the restaurants was spot on. The excursions were very expensive. We went on the trip to Mendenhall glacier which turned out not really to be a trip but just a coach ride of not more than twenty minutes. We could have got a shuttle bus for a lot less. The down size of a ship that big was that we couldn't get to see the glacier as there were too many iceburgs. This was probably due to the fantastic weather we had. People on smaller ships managed to negotiate the inside passage. The Rocky Mountaineer was fantastic. I would recommend anyone to go Gold Leaf if at all possible. The seats were so comfortable and we could see so much. The food was of such a high standard and the staff knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. They work so hard! The only down side of that part of our trip was the hotel 540 in Kamloops. Very dissapointing. Again the staff were lovely. I can't pinpoint what was wrong apart from the fact that we overlooked a sex shop. Everything just felt dated and not up to the first class standard of the Gold Leaf. Kamloops isn't a place I would like to revisit. Bannf was a lovely little town and our hotel was great. The only critism was that our room was very dark and SO HOT!!! Our trip to Lake Louise was for me the highlight of the entire trip! Unless you have been you just can't descibe the beauty of the place. The Deer Lodge was a nice comfortable hotel. Would deifinatley recommend the Heritage rooms. The other rooms looked very small. The overall impression of the hotel is that it is very brown and could do with some updating. The staff were fabulous and the food was very good. If I went back to Lake Louise, which I fully intend to, I would have at least one night in the Chateaux. Such a beatiful setting. We had afternoon tea overlooking the lake which was stunning. We then took a canoe out on the lake. Words cannot express how amazing it was. I felt like we were the only two people on the planet. Would highly recommend it. I would not however recommend Air Transat! Staff not very friendly and the food awful!! A piece of fudge for pudding and no fruit!! Such a long flight and hard seats!. I would like to thank you for arranging a fantastic trouble free holiday of a lifetime. We will recommend Barrhead Travel to all of friends. Thanks again

A superb experience from beginning to end. We did a tailored itinerary put together by Natalie Stewart at Barrhead including Banff, Jasper, Rocky Mountaineer, Vancouver and a cruise on Celebrity Infinity to Alaska and back. The hotels/rooms were great, side trips perfect, instructions and connections flawless. Even had complimentary champagne on my birthday at Fairmont Waterfront hotel. Would arrange future trips through Barrhead. Full marks to Barrhead and Natalie, in particular. Well done.
