“We headed from Calgary to Vancouver Island and took 8 days, stopping in Banff, Jasper, Clearwater and Whistler, before catching a ferry to Vancouver Island to see relatives. We then topped it off with 3 nights in the Encore in Las Vegas. The itinerary that was produced for us was superb, although next time we would spend three nights in each location rather than 2 ! The distances from place to place was larger than we thought, we did over 2000 kms in those 8 days. Hire the biggest car you can, we had a GMC Yukon and on the big roads with big trucks you need a big car. It was effortless. All the hotels were clean, friendly, inviting. Could not complain. Only adjustment we would make is that if you go to Vancouver Island you can fly from Victoria to most places inc Vegas. We therefore would not have had to catch the ferry back from Naninmo and drive through Vancouver to the airport. Minor issue though. On the whole a 10 out of 10 for the holiday. We will be doing it again.”

“The most fabulous holiday ever. We travelled from Calgary to Vancouver on a Rocky Mountaineer standard package trip which incorporated two and a half days on th RM (Gold leaf). The organisation for this trip by RM was second to none. I was in awe not only of the spectacular views and scenery but also of all the co-ordination and attention to detail afforded to us all. Everything was superb from the meals on the train to the accommodation on route - it could not have been any better. Well done to all the RM staff for their excellent service. Michelle from Barrhead travel booked this holiday for us adding little extras that made the trip even more special. Our thanks to her for her enthusiasm with regard to where we were going as she had first hand experience of our trip and the professional way it was handled from start to finish. Unfortunately our only disappointment was with Air Transit. How it can call itself a long haul airliner is beyond me. No legroom - appalling food - deplorable service. On our return journey the soft drinks trolley was brought around twice but with no offer of any hot drinks. When finally people requested tea or coffee on the second run they provided it individually from the back of the aircraft. What sort of service is that? I only mention this so that operators and agents are aware of how substandard this airline is. Nine hours is a long haul flight and needs a bit more attention than the short haul ones. This holiday was the best ever - would recommend Michelle and Barrhead travel to anyone travelling to Canada whatever your requirements.”

“We were recommended to Canada Travel (aka Barrhead Travel) by friends who used them last year, and in fact we put together more or less the same holiday. We flew to Vancouver, did the Inside Passage cruise, spent time on Vancouver Island Victoria, Tofino), and finished taking the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff and home from Calgary. Our agent put together the whole package. He clearly knew his stuff and managed the various tweaks and changes we asked for promptly and accurately (and patiently!). We were very fortunate with weather. In that, and every other, respect the holiday met or exceeded our expectations (which were quite high!). Two cautions: the first is that it took 4 hours to clear US Immigration at Vancouver Ocean Terminal, to the annoyance of the ship's captain. Part of the problem was the number of people who had failed to get an ESTA (US Visa Waiver) before travel. The second is that it's a 7 hour coach ride Victoria to Tofino (which is well worth doing, but perhaps just one way). There is a flight back option, but it's on 8 seater planes with very limited baggage space. The excess baggage cost is nominal but there is a significant chance that your bag might travel on a later flight - no use to us who had an 07:00 train departure the next morning. Well worth an extra overnight in Vancouver to cut down on bags going to Tofino! Highly recommended!”

“My daughter and myself had a great holiday in Canada , visiting Toronto, Quebec and Montreal . Craig was most helpful with suggestions and with the organising of the trip .Apart from the hotel in Quebec ,which was a bit of a let down compared to the others we stayed in on our travels ,everything went to plan . I would definitely use Barrhead again and have recommended them already to friends .”

“After attending a Rocky Mountaineer presentation, I was introduced to Laura who guided me through a proposed visit to Canada including an Alaska Cruise. Because of her enthusiasm, I booked right away. After a couple of days studing the itinerary, I went back to the store and proposed a few alterations. This was no problem to Laura who made the necessary changes there and then. Everything went smoothly, I enjoyed the coach trip from Banff to Jasper with an excellent guide /driver. I stayed at The Sawridge Inn in Jasper and found the staff efficient and very helpful. The Rocky Mountaineer was excellent, great staff, food and views. Transfer to and from the hotel in Kamloops first class. The cruise was with my preferred cruise line, Norwegian, and was up to its usual extremely high standard. My preferred shore excursion was the mini coach tip to The Yukon. Again a frirst class driver/guide, Paul. There were no problems from start to finish although I did not enjoy the return BA Flight from Seattle to London as the seats were to close together. I would recommend Barrhead Travel for all holidays but especially their Canada specialists. Thak you. Hugh”

This was all due to Hannah who took so much trouble sending information etc much more than I have experienced at other travel agents - I will definitely be using Barr Head Travel again. “I have used Barr Travel on two occasions to take two very different holidays in Canada. I have found Craig to be helpful and very efficient and have been guided to places that as an active retired couple met our needs. Our most recent trip as independant travellers took as to some amazing hotels with terrific views over mountains, rivers and the ocean. More importantly we were within walking distance to some really good trails and opportunities to visit small museums and take trips on the sea and in the sky. With everything planned by Barr Travel we have enjoyed being independant but have had confidence in the hotels and areas they have recommended. Our trip took us to Vancouver, Whistler, Campbell River, Ucluelet and Victoria leaving from and returning to our local airport of Norwich.”

From the beginning the attention to detail and customer service from Natalie was superb, I was kept updated regularly and received regular emails and phone calls to check that we were happy with the planned arrangements. Our travel documents arrived well in advance, which was very reassuring. Our holiday to Vancouver Island, a cruise to Alaska, time in Vancouver and then travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff returning to the UK via Calgary was fabulous and everything went according to plan. “this really was a holiday to remember and was made even more special by the fact that Adla had gone out of her way to inform hotels and Rocky Mountaineer that it was my birthday . Got a free upgrade to a suite in Jasper and a birthday cake on the train ! This was the icing on the cake (forgive the pun) . Fully recommend this company to anyone looking for a trouble free and refreshingly exciting holiday . Well done !!”

“The logistics of the holiday were superbly put together, and everything went according to the busy itinerary we had. With the exception of The Chelsea Hotel in Toronto - which was a change to the original plan, and which we found to be very impersonal, staff not particularly helpful or friendly, and the rooms were 'very tired' - the hotels were all very good. We would definitely use Barrhead Travel for future holidays.”
