Stanhope is a leading provider of niche and specialist insurance to the UK home insurance market. We focus on providing solutions that fit outside the standard UK home insurance norms. This could be an expensive item of jewellery, a property that is thatched or a home that is undergoing renovation works.

If you can’t find the solution through standard insurance platforms, then you will most likely have come to us as your next port of call.

Stanhope provides customers with highly personalised insurance products that their specific and specialist circumstances require. We will insure valuable items of jewellery whilst you are living away from home because your house, which has subsidence (which we are also insuring), is undergoing renovation works!

We are dedicated to providing exceptional levels of customer service and want all our customers to know that they have the right insurance policy in place at the right price, for their specific set of circumstances.

Whilst I know Stanhope have to work with market forces my premiums have gone up year on year. I have only ever had 1 claim in my life & now 68 yrs. a whooping £300 increase this year.

Emily, who dealt with my enquiry, was pleasant, knowledgeable and did what she said she would do. The product largely meets my needs although quite complex with some unexpected exclusions/conditions (eg "off site" cover only when insured item "in line of sight").

Renewing my policy was fairly straightforward and Abi Diboll, the Client Manager, was helpful and efficient. The actual renewal took a few days, as I was surprised at the high cost. The initial increase requested versus last year was getting on for 20% and, indeed, the cost has almost doubled since 2019. This is why I am only rating Good rather than Excellent.

Unfortunately it has been well documented that all insurers have seen a big increase in the cost of customer claims, that have been affected by inflation, world events and the rising cost of materials. We're doing as much as we can to ensure our clients are getting the correct cover for their needs at the best prices, whilst still offering a great service. Reduced options for clients these days, caused by different market factors (we write about this on our website, www.stanhopeinsurance.co.uk), have increased premiums. Customer service is responsive and client focused, but when we encountered a problem the response from the Stanhope team was binary and didn't demonstrate the imagination to come up with a solution until I proposed it.
