About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Fantastic staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Knowledgeable, friendly and great with children. Facilities are really well maintained - always clean and clearly a pride taken.”

Hi Hazel, I'm really pleased to hear that our staff team are making you feel welcome, We employ an external cleaning agency to do the bulk of our housekeeping tasks, they have recently undergone some changes within their staff team but any new staff should be fully trained up now. We have also updated our general on-site cleaning rota to ensure that all bases are covered. If you experience any further issues, please ask to speak with a Duty Manager whilst on site as most things can be resolved fairly quickly Thanks for feeding back to us

“Fantastic facility with the most friendly staff. The one thing not giving 5 Stars is being able to control the amount of young people gathering around pieces of gym equipment (sometimes 5 people). This means you can’t get on the equipment for more thank 20/30mins sometimes and miss your own workout. I’m all for fitness of all age’s however this needs to be controlled.”

“Use Bridgend centre regularly. Sometimes large queue at reception, which can make you late for the session. Studio 1-2, floor can be dusty, and when doing pilates etc etc you are close to the floor.”

“Obviously there are renovations being done which are going to make our centre much better. At the moment changing rooms are dirty and outdated. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. It is good that we have a Halo Centre in our town.”

“Overall, I really like Halo Ross on Wye. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the facilities are kept beautifully clean. I love the swimming pool temperature and using the steam room and sauna. The showers are comfortable and clean and the changing cubicles well maintained. Only a couple of gripes. It would be nice if the 6am swim ended at 7am rather than 06.55 as, by the time we've all got changed and logged in, we don't get our full 55 minutes swim. The steam room seems to be temperamental and is frequently out of action, which is a shame. Some users are still coming into the changing rooms in outdoor shoes.”

Hi Ruth, Thank you for your recent review, We do our best to make sure the facilities are kept clean and tidy and are glad you have noticed. Unfortunately we have recently has some issues with the steam room, We are currently working on a more permanent fix but please do bare with us. As for the early morning swim We will make a note of your suggestion currently the break in place 06:55 - 07:10 due to welfare of the Lifeguards. Kind regards, Ross Halo Team

“Depends which staff are the n duty, some only too happy to help, others hide out at the desk. With all the building work going on at present staff are not making it any easier. Classes for aqua start late or cancelled at the last moment. Communication between staff is poor. I really hope the refurbishment lives up to expectations because it is currently pretty grim.”

“Staff always helpful and friendly. Parking easy. Mainly use the pool but have done classes in the past. These vary depending on the instructor involved some more motivating than others.”
