About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Have cancelled my membership at Hereford Leisure Centre. Most of the times I can go it is just full of kids. Tried going earlier and there was a school there using during school time! Most trying to lift big weights that could cause injury and staff don’t say a word.

Awful website, you cannot choose options like you should be able to, I tried using it on my phone and when I couldn't pick the specific centre I wanted, decided to go on the computer instead.....same issue! only 1 centre to choose and when you do choose that....nothing comes up (as per photo atached!) Also no clear menu, go onto 'activities' and it doesn't tell you anything unless you pick a centre, only it wont give you a centre to pick! Local authority need to go back to running it themselves as the booking system was way better back then.

The classes I’ve been to are good. The gym is too small and the booking system is inconvenient, as you can’t show up when you want to. The changing and shower facilities are so dirty! Especially the toilets! To the point I’m looking at changing gyms because for £40 a month it’s just unacceptable. As is being made to walk bare foot around the changing room. It would be good to have a separate changing room for the gym as the floors are always socking wet and often smell of urine.

I have been a regular at this golf course for many years and the greens have been hit or miss but yesterday having paid your elevated green fee I was generally shocked by the lack of care. Greens were bumpy and full of pot holes and bunkers being filled in with shoddy turf and grass being cut and left the green keeper's need re-training or sacking. You have spent loads on a cycle track that is not used much, time to put some into the golf course and get the course back to its former level. I do believe you should send a refund to anyone who paid for GOLF yesterday and either close the course or offer it at a much reduced green fee.

Played a round of golf on the Hereford Municipal this morning 18-04-25. I have never seen the course in such a bad state before. I am actually sad I paid for that round! Won't be returning.

Despite persistent complaints to management and staff, the male changing rooms by the gym are not safe to use. Mold and slime grow in the shower area, clumps of dust gather in and around the air vents. The vents in the changing room area remain uncleaned. The benches have accumulated dust between the slats and around the edges. Lockers have rubbish in and are not cleaned. The tops of the lockers have been cleaned once in approximately two and a half years, 3 months ago and haven't been cleeaned since. (Only after repeated complaining for that long was something done about them) Reported issues with gym equipment go unaddressed. Promises of new equipment such as the matrix rowing machines - promised by Christmas of 2024 never materialise. I get the impression that no one cares. So, other than this review, I have given up complaining to staff and have stopped using Halo's facilities. You are failing in your duty of care. No amount of surveys and ratings make a difference, most likely including this one. You are no longer able to provide a safe clean environment and that is a typical reason for so many of us are leaving to go elsewhere. Management are part of the problem. Daily floor cleaning of the changing rooms, by one overworked staff member, only on the days when he works, is insufficient for the work required to address the serious health and safety issues you continue to ignore. Also, stop claiming that the changing rooms are part of an old building and there are issues - just look at the same environment in the Spa. If that can be kept clean, why can't the changing rooms? Honestly no one cares and now, neither do I. As like many others, we will no longer tolerate the lack of cleanliness. You should be ashamed, but no one in management cares enough to properly address the ongoing issues.

Every week I take my son to swimming lessons at Fairwater leisure centre and every week is so frustrating. Users of the pool are leaving their belongings in the changing rooms whilst they are swimming and there is never any free rooms to use. There is 1 bench in the women’s changing rooms that also gets hogged so therefore isn’t any space for changing. I am looking to go to another provider as it is shocking!

Sites in Gloucester have become diabolical since being taken over by new management who never seems to be available to speak to also doesn’t seem to care about staff after overhearing conversations. In general Staff seem unhappy and clueless which is a shame as facilities are alright. Need sorting before more people quit.

Maesteg swimming pool is in dire need of help. There were only a couple of lockers that actually had keys so if I wasn't lucky enough to get one anyone could steal my belongings. Only one of the 3 showers worked, there was a large crack in the floor leading to the women's changing room. The pool itself was as nice but the lack of changing room facilities left us feeling really disappointed especially as the cost of swimming is high.

I take my children to swimming lessons at the Merthyr tydfil leisure centre on a wednesday, the cleanliness to the family changing rooms is appalling, dirty floors visible mud and balck dirt where children walk best feet, a terrible smell possibly coming from the nappy bin. Dirty environment, no soap in toilets. Such a shame as the lessons are excellent but the cleanliness of the changing rooms is a worry.

Ynysawdre changing village is filthy, stinking smells from the drains, filthy tiles and the place doesn't look like it's been cleaned in months. Showers - only few are working. Foul brown water coming from the drains. Chewing gum stuck to the floor. Needs sorting out!

I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience. We are working with our maintenance team to resolve the drain and smell issues. The showers are out of action linked to the work on the drains, this should be resolved by the end of this week, this is not the standard we aim for. Please be assured that your feedback will be shared with our team for immediate attention. Cleanliness is a priority for us, and we will look into the current situation to ensure it is addressed properly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Best regards, Halo Team

Brockworth swimming pool needs some urgent attention it was filthy inside. I will not be going back with my child. Poor customer service young people with no manners. The pool sides had sand all over it. Not the kind of experience I would expect.

I was overcharged for a gym membership. There is no communication between their staff. I was told by a mate that there was a £5 deal on for January, however when I went to get this deal, I was told it was no longer valid, until a week later I was told by another member of staff that the deal was still going.
