About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The Swimming Pool gym is a good environment for exercise but some non working machines need replacing. Staff are always courteous and friendly. The referral instructor is incredible at his job.”

“Love coming swimming here, the pool is just the right size and I meet up with and make friends here. Am sad that there often seems to be problems with the computer system that makes booking ( and paying for) the sessions difficult, as afraid it might lead to closure due to lack of funds. Some of the lockers could do with repairing as either don't lock, no keys, or keys don't have bands to put around wrists, but otherwise good. Staff are brilliant.”

“overall I have had a postive time in leominster the only concern I do have is more for a safty side on the younger members of the gym under 18 I would say they need more support or guidence as I can see injuries with the free weights taking place plus the importance of warming up and not just jumping in with both feet”

We understand your concern about overcrowding in the activities in the centre, however we do have a booking system in place which should alleviate this issue as we have capped numbers. “Plenty of classes to suit lots of abilities. Teachers are brilliant! Booking system is good, classes fill up quickly. Gym is very good lots of selection to cater for most Needs. Only downfall is more parking places needed. If halo or other businesses have training sessions in the halo centre the car park fills up very quickly. Brilliant to see the Rec (halo) busy busy. Have noticed the gym needed a good clean, the floor around the edges needed a good hoover and wash down. Overall love using the facilities it’s like a second home.”

“Overall I am happy with my experience. However, customers are frequently entering the pool without showering first and/or getting in and out of the pool to use the sauna without showering. For hygiene reasons, I would like to see more signs around the sauna area reminding people to shower before entering the pool, particularly after using the sauna, but in general this basic rule being enforced by staff who watch people getting in and out without showering. People must understand that skin exfoliating during a sauna & then using the pool to wash off & cool down without showering is disgusting. It is starting to put me off using the pool. Water machine has been out of order for weeks on the ground floor now so it would be nice to see faults repaired a little quicker.”
