About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Hello Ann Many thanks for taking the time to give your feedback. The booking system is a corporate template which was put in place, most people do seem to like it however we are trialling an option on the weekends to not have to book in. You can just turn up without booking for any session but with that, you run the risk of it being fully booked and missing out. When run a full timetable and try to cater for all of the community and their needs but appreciate that we do not offer the type of freedom that we used to . “In the middle of revamping so rather unjust to assess yet. Concern for shower area, but may not be finished. The water in the pool was not immaculately clean with an apparent scum mark around the edges. Sincerely hope the changing rooms revert to male/female segregation. My wife at 91yrs was not comfortable with the existing (and hopefully temporary) arrangements. We did not like the icy blast of cold air from the ceiling vent when entering the changing room from the pool. Cannot book on line as we do not possess smart or mobile phones. Please do not forget us impoverished pensioners when swimming for us is really important health wise. The staff are lovely”

“The Gym has has gone down hill.A few months back you replaced what was top quality gym equipment with less equipment and of inferior quality. I use the gym at around 7am 5 or6 times a week and although it's not usually that busy you can't always use the equipment that you want to because they are in use.It must have cost mega bucks with money that could have been used to revamp the steam/sauna rooms which wouldn't have cost the earth.”

“Some instructors do not give value for money as they start late and finish early. Parking can be difficult and you have to get there very early to ensure parking to attend your class.”

“Bikes & rowing machines need more regular servicing! Especially as your membership fees are so high. However staff are really helpful and good to me . Overall I'm happy”

“Good do with a really good clean Rust, mould and dirt I the swimming pool. Swimmers walk In to the changing rooms with their outdoor shoes despite the signs. I m not entirely sure that the staff don't wear their outdoor shoes in the pool either.”

“The laned swimming is a bit of a joke, the fast and medium swimmers should be separated. You can't get a good swim without the so called medium swimmers either getting in the way or just ruining a set by pushing off right in front of you when you go to turn.”

Hi Emma, Hi Emma, Thanks so much for your feedback Each pool is set to a controlled temperature which should fall within recommendations for the type of pool it is (For example, the main pool will always be slightly colder than the leisure pool due to adults using it for fitness, as opposed to children splashing around) However, there are occasionally things that can cause the pool temperature to drop, so if you ever experience the same again just ask the Lifeguard to call the Duty Manager, who can look into it for you We look forward to seeing you soon

We're glad to hear you love the centre, I agree that there are improvements to be made which we have plans to do in a variety of areas. You should start to see things looking a bit more updated throughout the course of the year. We have put an additional short shift in place on evenings where we know the gym will be busy. Gym staff have been briefed to ensure that equipment is being used correctly and that gym etiquette is being followed. That said, should you experience any further issues, please ask for a Duty Manager at reception who will be happy to assist. Thanks for your feedback, we look forward to seeing you soon

Hi Hazel, I'm really pleased to hear that our staff team are making you feel welcome, We employ an external cleaning agency to do the bulk of our housekeeping tasks, they have recently undergone some changes within their staff team but any new staff should be fully trained up now. We have also updated our general on-site cleaning rota to ensure that all bases are covered. If you experience any further issues, please ask to speak with a Duty Manager whilst on site as most things can be resolved fairly quickly Thanks for feeding back to us

“Depends which staff are the n duty, some only too happy to help, others hide out at the desk. With all the building work going on at present staff are not making it any easier. Classes for aqua start late or cancelled at the last moment. Communication between staff is poor. I really hope the refurbishment lives up to expectations because it is currently pretty grim.”

“I've been a member for nearly 30 years,but it does have a number of faults. I have noticed a decline in the cleanliness of the ladies changing rooms and the gym also members are now leaving there sports bags and coats in the gym whilst using the apparatus.”

“The music is too loud when asked to turn down, they said it’s not possible as they don’t have control - i think this is unacceptable response, I’ve been asking abt this for few times and same answer is given, please be aware that some people are very sensitive to sounds. I suggest for management to solve this issue quickly, i think most people use their own musics anyway at the gym so I don’t think this is appropriate.”
