About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

The swimming pool and sauna room are adequate, but gym is now unusable for someone who lifts weights as it only caters for two individuals doing that kind of training at the most. This is a great pity as I now have to travel into Bridgend or to Ynysawdre to train. Ynysawdre has no sauna and Bridgend is usually excessively busy ☹️

It's ok gym equipment is dated and alot kids running around no supervision in gym doing madness. I wish more equipment in the gym .

Face cameras never work, you have to beg and prove you pay a monthly fee to get access to your booked time slot.

Really could do with a good clean, apart from the floor, the toilets, showers and changing rooms look disgusting and if there are cleaned, the are not cleaned regularly or properly.

There are not enough classes that I can access for dance genre. The dance class on a Thursday is too early as I have to get a bus form Porthcawl & the class is always full. For some reason they are not using the sports hall which has plenty of room & has been used before. I would like more accessible dance classes. Cath Hughes proved to be popular & I would like to see her taking more classes.

I couldn't benefit from my membership due to lake of classes that ate suitable for my age, always on the wait list.. poor value for money

I generally use the centre for swimming sessions in the mornings. No-one seems to shower before they get in the pool anymore - probably not helped by the fact that the sign near the showers is in Welsh. The changing rooms are generally clean now and they have improved more recently. The cost of the membership is so high, I don't consider the already ageing and grubby facilities value for money. The issue in Bridgend is there is not a lot of choice, so you feel forced to come here.

Staff are fantastic, always willing to help and are welcoming. The facilities are in dire need of some repairs, and paint in places such as the outside of the indoor hall, and especially the tennis courts which are deteriorating rapidly in places.

The staff are friendly but the gym facilities are poor. It’s a very small gym without much equipment and there’s only 1 class per week. The membership price is the same as nearby Bridgend Life Centre where the facilities are far superior. The gym could also do with a refresh and a good clean.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We are continually looking to improve our service and we will take your feedback on board to make changes where needed. In regards to the gym needing a refresh, we had a complete gym refurbishment 3 weeks and had all brand new equipment brought in to replace the old.

Staff polite. Place is an absolute state. Unclean benches in the changing rooms. Unclean steamroom. Wall panels in men's changing room have fallen off leaving pipes visible. Holes and leaks in ceiling. Route to spa where disabled changing room is absolutely stinks.

Equipment was broken and wasn’t repaired for long periods of time. Removed equipment that people wanted (exercise bikes). Over crowded gyms as Halo would sell day passes and didn’t cap how many people were in the gym. You’d be waiting for equipment to become available for long periods of time. Cancelled my membership and would not recommend.

The gym has a nice amount of people in the mornings so it doesn’t get too busy. However the machines are often out of order especially the cable machines & everything is dusty, needs a good clean

Lack of participating staff in the gym area, never seems to be any help to hand. Strange choice of new machines, feel that clientele should have been involved. Wrong time of day can involve a large number of unsupervised children acting unsociably, both in gym and changing area. So..ok, but could be a lot better. Good points?...no pressure on performance, cost, friendly feeling, like other clients generally.

There are insufficient number of sessions per day to meet demand which means there are too many people in the pool at each session.

The changing rooms are not clean. They never smell fresh and there is ingrained dirt over the shower cubicles etc. They should be thoroughly cleaned throughout the day and between classes. No soap available in toilets either. Also smelled like urine the other week.
