“Had bike my wife loved and felt safe on and was able to convert it to an e-bike. Less expensive than trying to find and pay for a replacement .”

“As a pensioner I ordered Swytch to get me back on my trusty old neglected bike. Ordering straightforward, and package delivered as advised after three months. Fitting myself took not much more than an hour following the instructions provided. Been a transformation with many easy 30 milers now under my belt! I'd recommend Swytch as a great value for money product for anyone thinking of converting an old bike.”

“Nice effective simple to fit kit. As long as you’re happy with fairly low distances - - a few trips to shops etc - this has to be the kit to go for. Very happy with this choice.”

“I have a 20 inch wheel folding bike and received the brompton wheel. Not sure if that was my fault but I believed I had ensured it was not a brompton that I needed. The return was relatively easy. Once the correct wheel arrived, it was fairly easy to install. The swytch is my favorite of the 2 e-bikes I have- it is effortless on flats and manages enough to assist relatively steep hills. It doesn’t add so much weight as to make a noticeable difference on the ride. Other than having to deal with the company via email, swytch is a great product. And it’s not rocket science to install altho if you no longer have hand strength it helps to have a curious friend help when needed.”

“It took about an hour to install. The video they provide is helpful but there are some steps that look easier in the video than they are in real life. I purchased this for my dad who is 86 and still rides 15 miles a day. He wanted an electric bike but would not be able to lift a traditional electric bike onto a bike rack. The key feature of this is that you can install it on your existing bike. It’s also good that the battery is very lightweight. The downside is the range of the battery. Depending on how much assistance you need, you might only get 15 miles per charge. We ended up purchasing a second battery because we typically go on 25 mile bike rides. Having the back-up has been very useful. The other thing to be aware of is if you purchase the upgraded display unit, it’s not very easy to see what level you are at or how much battery is left while you are riding. We need to stop and cover the display with our hand to be able to see it. Otherwise, we are very happy with the kit and hope to get many years out of it.”

“I get around 6 to 7 miles on the smallest battery, which is only enough for the nearest town. Swytch Bike’s business model of taking payment months before the equipment is ready could be considerably better. The kit was fairly easy to fit, but I did need to change the handlebars to get the battery mount to fit. The battery status indicator on the controller consistently shows lower than the battery itself.”

“The SB is a great product when riding and it's really easy to swytch your regular bike into an electric one. The firm could improve though in being realistic about dispatch and delivery of the kit or, even better, live up to their promises in this matter.”

“When finally fitted it works well, however due to the crank arm /chain ring configuration, one bike needs the 'pick-up' round the crank set correcting at the beginning of every ride. It can also be knocked out of alignment during a ride. The installation on another bike required the threaded bar (hub) supplied in the front wheel to be filed down from 10mm to 9mm and that is what we were advised to do to make it fit the front drop out. It was rather precise exercise which some people may not want to tackle. Before purchase check your bike for the existing front drop out size, look carefully at fitting instruction and your crank set up to minimise the fitting problems. So a couple of days to resolve our technical hitches - support was available - then we able to cover 30k reasonably before the batteries ran down. Buy a spare if you can to get a good days ride. (i've not found that ability yet)”

“We have 3 bikes converted to Swytch. The product has been great for us. We had our local bike shop install all three. The only issue is receiving the product as suggested by the vendor. We did order an extra battery for our last kit with a specific color but had to change to default since we didn't want to wait longer for the delivery. Do I recommend it? Personally, we didn't have any issue with the kit and we enjoy using it since it does require us to pedal. All of our bikes with this kits are light compare to our ebikes which are much heavier. We do not have any hills. Most of our commute are 5 miles or less. We also attach a bike trailer to one of the bikes with the kit and we use it for grocery shopping including Costco runs. No issues at all. Hopefully the delivery issues get address this year so that those interested can get it much sooner (1-2 months).”

“Delighted with speed of delivery. Just took me a couple of hours to fit to my Brompton. Has made a bit of a difference weight wise but definitely upped my range with the combination. Love it for now but a little concerned seeing battery life. Mine is all good for now….fingers crossed! ;)”

“Overall this works well and is a good alternative to buying an electric bike. However we didn’t find it easy to set up despite my partner being skilled with bike mechanics. Once the hub is installed it is not simple to interchange back to the original wheel which I prefer for non-hilly journeys/hybrid rides. It also does not come with a tyre/inner tube which is OK as it doesn’t promise this but it surprised me.”

“The price and general plug and play design of the switch kit made it appealing. It also seems like the MAX was a good choice as far as battery range for my typical commute, which is around 18.5 km one way. The kit is light and when installed with battery pack adds a little more than 2 kilos to my bike's base weight, which is one real problem I have with many dedicated E-bikes. I had a fair amount of trouble with the hub on my particular bike as the fork wouldn't clear and I had to replace the fork, as well as grind the axle on the kit down to fit in the new drop outs. So the kit is not universal, nor is there an engineered solution to every problem, just some DYI instruction. The troubleshooting service was fairly responsive, and Swytch offered to compensate me for the purchase of the new fork. I'm happy with the general function of the kit now that it's working. There's a pedal rotations lag between starting to pedal and the kit's providing boost, but it's fairly fluid and intuitive. I've purchased (but not yet installed) the optional brake sensors, so there's the same second or so lag after stopping pedaling before the boost cuts out. That's somewhat more disconcerting, but understandable in a kit with the sensors it has/doesn't have. A couple of sore points. Range is significantly lower than advertised. I rarely use more than a level 3 boost, and typically stick to 2 (out of 5), but never make it all the way to work on a charge. That is, the battery rated at 30KM doesn't make it to 20KM without crapping out. I'm stuck with bringing my charger to work and back with me to refresh during the day. I also notice that even a few days idleness means the battery pack loses significant charge, which makes me nervous about the longevity of the batteries inside. Second, both the computer and the battery itself have level indicators, which rarely match. The computer will show no battery left (and assist does indeed disappear) while the battery lights are still showing 2 or 3 dots (out of 5). Can't tell if this might be a problem with the computer "protecting" the battery pack from overdrawing. I purchased the throttle, which I regret, as I never use it.”

“Installation was simple. In use it works well, although the range is not quite as good as I'd hoped and it does struggle on the hills a little so still needs a good solid input via the pedals. The battery state LEDs on the actual battery are much more optimistic than the display on the keypad, showing more charge than there actually is, which caught me out a couple of times. There is some drag from the motor when not in use so unpowered requires more effort.”

“I like my Swytch bike wheel for number of reasons. It came well packaged and was relatively easy to assemble. It works well and is fun to ride. Perhaps more than anything though it got me interested in old mountain bikes again, which has been a source of great enjoyment this year just gone. I fitted the wheel to a 1991 Kuwahara Tiger.. I think it looks cool. I have two negatives. Firstly, I ordered (and paid for) an alternative mounting kit, which didn't arrive. I was told a replacement part was being designed as the original wasn't considered good enough, which is OK, but I would like to get the battery off of the bars. I haven't heard anything since. Secondly, and this is minor. It simply isn't that fast. I know there are regulations to abide by, perhaps I just ride my unassisted bikes too fast! :-)”

“Love the kit, had to file down the bracket to fit into my forks but overall it doesn’t change the style of my bike too much (Charge Plug 3) I just wish it had a slightly longer range! I only have enough charge to do my daily commute if I really manage my battery life on the return journey. But it has made commuting manageable again after a knee injury as it just takes the strain out of the stop start of London roads. The only thing I’d recommend is to chuck in a spanner suitable for the wheel in as it’s not a standard locking size.”
