“Good correspondence. Good illustrations on web site and tips to ensure the right product chosen. Took a bit longer to arrive than I thought but wood nice quality and looks as good as I’d hoped.”

“Brilliant service. I ordered a beam that did not come with fittings, my error. However, when I rang up to arrange for the fittings to be delivered they were so helpful and the fittings arrived by courier next day, and I live in a remote part of Wales. S Roberts”

“The supplied fixings aren’t strong enough to hold the floating shelf without it sagging. Even with Corefix brick fittings, even a qualified handyman said the fixings weren’t sufficient! Lovely wood though. Delivery was well over the stated time too.”

Thank you for your feedback — we’re really pleased you like the quality of the shelf. We’re sorry to hear you had trouble with the fixings and delivery time. The floating shelf fixings we supply with plasterboard shelves have a built-in levelling mechanism designed to be tightened and level the shelf as the supporting pin is screwed in. If this feature isn’t adjusted correctly, the shelf can sag even though the fixings themselves are rated to hold substantial weight when installed. It's quite hard to see from the photo you've added but it looks as though the fixings might actually be upside down. To rectify you simply need to remove the shelves (ensure the brackets are positioned the correct way round) and screw the pin component of the fixings with a spanner inwards until the required angle is achieved. “Delivery was a week late, they said they sent emails to all customers but I never received one (checked my inbox, deleted items and junk/spam). Poor workmanship on the staining of the beam, they tried claiming it's the natural wood colour but it clearly isn't as you can see brush marks where they have applied more or less stain on different areas. To get a refund you have to cover the delivery costs which obviously will be pretty high of something this large/heavy Really unimpressed. Looks like I'm unlucky judging by other reviews, but I would have hoped customer service would have been more helpful at least considering it's their poor work rather than me just changing my mind.”

Regarding the staining, we strive to maintain consistent quality and are sorry this was not reflected in your beam. Our intention is never to misrepresent the product, and we take quality concerns very seriously. Colour variation and natural grain differences are a normal characteristic of air-dried beams, particularly those that are very old, and in some cases, they’re simply unavoidable. We are so pleased that we manage to get your order right for you and that you are now happy with your new Oak Fireplace beam :)
