“I am the dictionary definition of picky so I looked at lots of places before placing my order. I already had oak floating shelves and wanted a mantle which would be of a similar colour and style. I read the reviews which seemed very positive so chose the danish oil finish, which is more matt than satin. Very natural-looking. The order was placed after Christmas and had 10% off. It came within the week and there was an email to say when it would be delivered. The colour and style were spot on. A quality piece of wood and when you bring it home don't do as we did and put it by the radiator! Cracks have opened up but not excessively. We bought extra fixings but it went up easily. It has really enhanced the lounge and would buy from this site again, no problem.”

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We have changed the wording of our confirmation e-mails to give customers more clarity around delivery and dispatch times. As I'm sure you can imagine it is very hard for us to stick to strict lead times due to the handmade nature of our products. As with any made to order products during busy periods dispatch time may increase. We're glad you're happy with your beam :)

“The order arrived on time and well packaged. I realised, quite quickly, that the most important point to take into consideration was the datum point. I made that to be centered about 1 and 1/2 inches above the fire reveal. Most measurements are taken from this point. There are four support pin holes drilled into the rear of the beam and these, on my 6 foot curved beam, are 18 inches apart. They are also 2 and a half inches from the top of the beam. Using a 4' level I marked the hole centres and triple measured the dimensions. I also made sure that the markings were done, making a half inch +. I drilled with a 5mm masonary bit first, to really centre the holes, then went up to the 10mm. (Try and make sure that you drill into the wall at 90 degree and make sure that you have drilled deep enough to accept the pins!) ) Use the level again, across the pins once they are driven in, to make sure that the pins are level. (\you may be able to adjust the position of the pins slightly.Measure 18 inches from the centre of each pin to the adjacent pin; adjustment is possible using a small hammer. When you drive the beam onto the pins be aware that you have a small chamfer on the pin to facilitate fitment. It may seem a daunting task to start with but, providing that your drill measurements are correct, all should be well. Good luck. I would buy from this firm again. Go for it.”

“Bought the classic oak fireplace beam in Forest Brown. Perfect above our log burner and makes a real difference to the room. Arrived quickly and was really easy to fit. Love the adjustable fixings, it was easy to get it nice and level. Thanks!”

“Wow, absolutely beautiful beam, really really pleased. We were a bit wary ordering over the net so ordered for a small fireplace first. We're so happy with the quality now it's arrived we're ordering a second one for a much larger fireplace. Well done Traditional Beams, wouldn't hesitate to recommend :)”

“Lovely beam, very easy to install with simple instructions and fittings. We are very pleased with it and the price. My only slight criticism was the delivery. It took longer than anticipated, as the wording on the website wasn'the terribly clear, about when the busy time was and how long I could expect to wait. Overall this wasn'the a problem and once it arrived the fact that it was so nice over shadowed the small wait.”

“Purchase oak beam the finish was oil more than happy with the finish as buying off line you don't get to see the product . The beam is used as a floating mantle above a stove, fantastic price as in fire show rooms they are 3 times the price and quality not as good..”

“Exceptional customer service and very high standard of products. I ordered and received an oak beam which arrived lighter in colour than what I expected and it did not match the rest of my home. I phoned traditional beams to query what I could do and told them that I was pushed for time as I had a builder lined up for the job! I do believe that they did everything possible to make me a happy and satisfied customer. They arranged collection of the beam and dispatched a darker shade within a few days. I am very grateful.”
