Had a mole inspected and received no follow up. No idea if there’s a problem or not.

Very disappointing. My appointment at the Harley Street clinic started a bit later than booked (7 minutes late), and as I was in a hurry to get back to work, the delay mattered to me (especially as the appointment was to take approx. 40 minutes). The welcome at the Reception was not great either, despite the delay with the appointment the person did not communicate anything to me, she did not smile or offer anything to drink either. The visit was also very short (max. 15 mins). The person conducting the check did not have all my previous records (she said that I only visited the clinic once in 2019, whereas I visited the clinic 3 times, including in 2018 and 2020 during the pandemic as well!). When I tried to explain that there should be my previous records as each time I received a report, she was not willing to investigate. As those records were not available, the person checking could not compare my previous records with the current state. Frankly, I did not feel the visit was worth the money I paid for it. It was also much more expensive than my previous visits at the Argyle Street and Moorgate clinics but did not deliver the same value. I did not feel that the service I received was very good. Very disappointed, especially since the previous visits were very good.

Attended the Harley Street clinic and Susie the mole nurse was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. However, Mole Clinic didn't answer phone for 20 mins or reply to the website message the day before the appointment resulting in a joint appointment time being only for 1 person (as only 1 nurse and 1 camera) and a wait for an hour before the 2nd person was seen. Also left waiting in unmanned reception and had to go and find Mole Clinic in the multi-occupied building at the appointment time.

Do not use this service. Rude, rushed, no human kindness, overpriced. Unprofessional, the nurse was waiting at reception as I arrived and kept me waiting as she discussed the type of discount she'd get on the skin care range offered at the clinic. She then rushed through my examination without explaining anything to me. Then charged me extra for two moles to be examined by a doctor. WHat did I pay her to do?? Go to a GP and get a referral to another specialist.

Please don't use this clinic! They are a joke. No, wonder why they have bad reviews. One day before my appointment they called me to cancel it because one of their nurses couldn't work on that morning. I am coming from Cambridge and already paid for the train and hotel. They offered an appointment at a later hour but wasn’t possible for me. To calm me down they transferred to the clinic manager, and she told me a story that they need to close the clinic that day because of Covid – a normal excuse that everybody is using it now; when I told her that her colleague just offered me another appointment that day she told me that her colleague didn’t check properly the schedule – another story. They will refund me but I will have my money after days because of their policy (they canceled it but still they keep my money for a couple of days) – so not professional at all. Now they send me an email again - they had time to organise :(.

I was surprised by how superficial the visit was. one generic information about moles and sun exposure was offered, but I felt that the whole exercise was a 25-minute box ticking, and no more. When I asked to have a mole checked on my head, for example, I was told that 'we don't do that', and only after pin-pointing it was it eventually looked at. Also felt that all the chat during the inspection meant that several bits (e.g. on upper arm) were missed, which I then had to ask to have checked. Overall, not at all worth the time or money.

Thank you for reviewing our service and I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Our screening nurses provide information regarding moles and sun exposure to help clients prevent future skin cancers and this aspect of our service is appreciated by most of our clients. Moles located on the scalp and obscured by hair are generally excluded from our assessment due to lack of access and visibility. Our screening nurse's notes indicate that all of your visible moles were assessed for skin cancer without issue during your screening. Whilst our award-winning service is highly effective in the early detection of life-threatening skin cancers, and highly rated by the vast majority of our clients, we are always keen to consider ways of further enhancing the service. If you have any specific suggestions in that regard please do contact me directly as these would be most welcome. Kind regards, Iain Mack, Founder & MD. (iainmack@themoleclinic.co.uk)

Nurse unprofessional, told stories and made jokes about other clients. Nurse didn't know about research in the area, and didn't seem keen to answer questions. One mole referred on, got the feeling she wouldn't have referred it if we hadn't pointed it out to her. Worried she may have missed something; not a pleasant experience.

I have only been to the clinic once and I had an examination with a nurse who was very good and made me feel at ease. The reception staff on the other hand were very unprofessional. Gossiping in front of clients in a very small office is not very appropriate. During my exam it was suggested that I had a photo sent off for one of my newer moles. I agree to this and paid the fee. This was now nearly a year ago and I have not had any feedback out contact from the clinic, despite sending two emails and calling a couple of times. I actually live outside the uk at the moment and so wanted to check everything out before leaving. I am still unsure if any of my moles are problematic. At first I recommended the service to friends. But after not getting any results and no one answering my emails I have since suggested elsewhere. If anyone had any results for me I'd like to know them. Claire Douglas

Thank you for your review and for complimenting our screening nurse. I apologise that our reception staff could be overheard and have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again. I can confirm that your report was emailed to you the day after your consultation and apologise that you did not receive it or a replacement. A replacement has now been issued and we will contact you separately to ensure you receive it. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards Iain Mack, Founder & Managing Director
