“So far renewing the cover was easy and straightforward, I always say that it's difficult to judge how good a company is until I have had a breakdown so cannot give any breakdown feedback .”

“I have not had any reason to call you out in the years l have been with you so l cannot give a review on your breakdown performance, how ever your renewal policy has a lot to be desired, l understand my policy is automatically renewed but l had no prior warning of this, the money was just taken out of my bank account as l am a widow on fixed income this will put my bank account in debit. If l was a new customer the cover quoted on comparison sites would be much cheaper than the £67.00 you quoted me. when l phoned you although the person l spoke to was very polite he was most unhelpful unable to give a fresh quote as money had been taken out of my account, surely a part refund would have been possible. So l have taken my custom elsewhere and have a more favourable quote from R A C.”

Renewal communication is sent 30 days prior to renewal date and confirms that payment will be taken up to two days in advance of the renewal date. Our records show that this communication was sent to the email address registered to your policy at the beginning of the month. From time to time, we do run promotions with third-party providers such as Price Comparison websites, but generally speaking, any significant price difference shown is due to an excess being applied to the policy via such websites, which we do not apply on direct sales, or renewals where an excess has not previously been a feature of the policy. “Needed this recently as my battery failed very suddenly in the middle of a busy high street. It was easy to report on the app and help arrived within the estimated time. Very good service, especially as it was a Sunday!”

“Reliable, trustworthy and they are there when you need them. I have had to call Start twice in the last year, and both times they were exceptional....one time, they bought my wife and our dog, (and car!!) all the way back from the lake district, in one hop!!!”

“In my first year I had to call on their services on 2 occasions. My problems were sorted within a reasonable time frame. I expected these call outs to be reflected in the premium for this year,but they weren't and I had an acceptable uplift in cost. I had no problem renewing. Other insurers should take note if they want customers to remain with them.”
