“I have not put up the rail yet but it looks fairly straightforward. On inspecting the components I am disappointed that two of the brackets have scratches on the faceplate which will be visible. A shame as the rest seems to be good quality.”

“Wood handrail is beautiful wood but what was disappointing were the silver end trims. The silver ends have grooves in but nothing to wind/catch onto at the end of the rail, they come off quite easily. They needed something like a little screw fitting to fix to the wood. The items were not cheap so I would have expected more secure endings.”

“Goods fine, no issue - problem was delivery. I hadasked specifically for the delivery NOT to be made on a particular date (spoke to an assistant on phone) as I knew I wouldn't be there. But whoever wrote it down got it wrong and delivered it on that very day!! Luckily for the driver my neighbour spotted the lorry and was able to deal with it. Please make sure you double check with the customer that you have the right information. Inconvenience caused unnecessarily to an unwell neighbour.”

“I ordered the American oak and it said that woods comes bare but can used as or varnished etc. The wood we received could not be used bare as wood was too rough. You would get splinters, so you have to varnish. Product arrived as on time.”

“The handrail is beautiful. However the delivery company gave no indication when to expect the delivery - between 9-3pm as an example. They left the rail on my front drive. Anybody could of taken the rail and I wouldn't of known. I have a doorbell and a door knocker of which they used none. I work from home my car was on the drive they had no excuse.”

“I think that you should use a better courier!! The handrail was due to be delivered yesterday; having been on hold with tuffnells for over 30 minutes I still don’t know when the handrail will be delivered. We had booked a carpenter to fit the rail today so will have to re book.”

“Good quality product, Well packed and safely delivered as promised. A bit disappointed that even after sending a sketch showing the overall height as 710mm they turned out to be 700mm. this has compromised my design a bit. Also the top stem assembly into the tube upright is a very sloppy fit. I was expecting at least a push fit. I will have to use some thin brass shim on final assembly. Well you did ask for my comments. John Dawson”

Hi John, Thank you for your review. The stems are a loose fit as you did not purchase any loctite for the them. The 10mm that we are out on your sizes this is down to tolerance and parts varying. Again we are sorry for this. SimpleHandrails.co.uk

“Delivery time poor,communication very poor.Quality of handrail good. While it is acknowledged that we are all struggling in the current times and things weren't as one would reasonably expect I am happy to conclude that everything was eventually concluded amicably and if necessary I would be happy to deal with SimpleHandrails again.”

“Have been asked to write a review but handrail hasn't arrived yet. On day 5. Expected delivery is by day 8. Phone lines very very busy. However, all of this is stated on the website and covid related. Will be able to review when its here!”

“Very good products, let down in a big way by poor delivery by couriers. Emails from DHL to say they will deliver and when they don't they say they have not collected the delivery. This happened twice. Total experience of purchase marred by this. Change couriers.”

“Lovely quality but the holes for the brackets on the extended part of pole where not in line resulting in the task of firing the handrail becoming a very tricky and time consuming job.”

“The handrails are good quality, all bits and pieces present plus a spare or two - BUT, the courier service was dreadful. No prewarning of delivery day or time slot but an unknown neighbour calling on us from 3 sides of a block away , struggling gamely with 2 well wrapped 3.5 m oak banisters. The package was clearly addressed but delivered to the wrong address, left outside that wrong address when the residents were out and of course, no signature. Over £400 worth of goods left out in the rain !”

“At first glance the rail looks great, especially once it came out of the cardboard tubes. Unfortunately the ends are not all the same size which means the joiner in the middle is not flush. Also the metal end caps are slightly different sizes inside which means the plastic insert is snug on one end but loose on the other. All in all it looks OK but was expecting everything to be flush.”

“Barely acceptable. I was debating 2* or 3*. There was a problem with the delivery. There was a part missing in the kit. The screws were loose, literally, in the kit box. The wood is full of splinters. The brackets cannot be adjusted so you have to line them up millimeter precise. All in all a pretty stressful experience to fit it to the wall. But it looks nice now it's done.”

“Delivered within stated time. 3m American oak complete with all good quality fixings. Very slight whip on the pole, not enough to make fitting difficult, straightened out when screws were tightened. The small screws supplied for the bracket to pole fixing were not of good quality according to my workman, he will have to return and replace them with screws that do not ‘crumple’ when put in.”
