“Ordering was easy but we are still waiting for our handrail to arrive. After an email to Simple handrails the issue with delivery was quickly rectified and the handrail arrived the next day. Great service”

“Delivery of the handrails was very prompt. The 3.5 metre rail was obviously warped when seen lying on the floor (if you rotated it, it would fall back to the original position). However the warp is not noticeable now that the rail is installed, so I'll let it go.”

“It looks good but I was very disappointed in the finish of the handrail . It has a very rough finish. We varnished it but when you put your hand on it, it feels as if it needs a good sandpapering. We expected and was told all you had to do was varnish but it is very disappointing .”

“The ordering process was simple and prices very reasonable. However, the delivery arrived whist we were out, having had no notice of the delivery date, and the glass was simply propped up beside our garage, in full view of the street. If we had been away for some time, I dread to think what may have happened - the glass could have been stolen or broken.”

“rail was delivered quickly. diameter was between 4.3 and 4.4mm rather than the 4.5 stated. Rolling the rail on a flat surface confirmed this variance of between 4.3mm and 4.4mm (the roll was not consistent). Not sure what the quality parameters are, or whether this is within them. One of the plastic plugs for the brass end cap was not wide enough for the cap, which was therefore loose. Easily remedied with a plug of cardboard, but again not sure if this is to be expected. The rail itself appears sound.”

“Took a bit longer to arrive due to covid issues. There was splintered wood at both ends, we had to carefully sand down with fine emery paper.”

“The handrails are of good quality, but the joiners are awkward to use, the wood needs drilling and there is no template. There are no instructions at all.”

“Great handrail, good brackets, terrible fixings. What should have been an easy job became far more involved. The fixings supplied are really cheap, the screws are large but made of soft metal, the plugs are relatively small leading at almost every screw camming out. One totally rounded meaning drilling the head off and leaving the rest in the wall. In the end I went to toolstation for 200 no5 x 50mm stainless screws, they were perfect and fit the bracket recesses well, although ultimately I ended up with 195 screws too many for a cost of almost £14.”

Hi Gary, Thank you for your reviews. All our screws are stainless steel high-quality screws. They are certified and are tested for the job. From previous experience, it looks like you have used the wrong type of tool to install the rails. In our instructions, we say do not use an impact driver, and always ensure the right size driver is used. The screws you have purchased from Toolstation are chipboard screws and are not up to the job. This unfortunately is an installation error. It is also a common mistake that plugs have to be bigger than the screws used. They do not. A plug should always be smaller than the screw in length. We have sold over 35k handrails to many happy customers and very rarely have any issues and this is certainly the first we have had with our screws. I have tried to reach out to you via email twice and we haven't had a reply. We have also had no correspondence from you apart from these reviews. “I would write a review if they had arrived. No sign yet - My apologies (wholehearted) that I did not acknowledge the quick and sympathetic response telling me there would be a delay. Product now expected this Thursday. I will be happy to review the product itself once it arrives.”

“Sadly there were neither fitting instructions nor a list or items included with the parts. They would have been useful. Also, it would have been handy to have some appropriately sized Allen keys for the grub screws. Maybe they could be put on your website linked to the product.”

“Where to start, well it looks nice finished, but arrived with a warped pole which did pull in to be fair, the fittings are not pure brass as you can pick them up with a magnet! And whatever you do ‘do NOT use the screws supplied’ they break as they are of a sub standard steel and not brass as stated there was also no raw plugs to put the screws into! I personally wouldn’t buy again, having said that, as I said earlier it does look nice finished and remember I am a competent DIYr”

“I was really surprised by the colour of the rail when I opened the package as it looks nothing like the photo at all. I didn’t expect to need to buy a coating and have to paint it on so this has added cost and delay. Everything else, delivery, wood and fixing quality etc looks really good.”

“Had an order for posts and handrails which arrived split over 4 deliveries a couple of parts were wrong but Sam from the office was very helpful and sorted the problem straight away Customer service was very good and i will use company again”

“Still not received my first order - half delivered and box was in pieces. Probably not their fault - but courier failed and I am still waiting. Not great so far! Be nice when I get them and install them and then I can review actual item.”

“Parts supplied were of good quality and delivered in good time and well packed to protect them despite carrier damaging packing tubes. Fixing screws supplied were absolutely useless so had to buy my own. Maybe some installation instructions would help?”

“Very quick delivery service and extremely competitive. However the drilled/tapped holes on one of the rails did not align with two of the brackets, which I had to drill out again. All installed now and looking good.”

“Stainless steel and oak handrail with dome ends. Very happy with quality and look of rail, bit fiddly to fit, but looks good. Only criticism was that during the ordering system we were asked if we wanted text updates of the delivery process to which we said yes. Unfortunately no text or email regarding delivery and thankfully someone was at the house when it was delivered 2 days later when the delivery driver rang the door bell and then just left is on the path outside and drove off.”

“No instructions included. Phoned and used the online “immediate response” chat facility but no response on either medium. Handrail brackets do not allow for uneven walls, surely the fixing screw to the baseplate could be longer to allow for any necessary adjustment?”
