Hi Lee Glad we could be of service with your Samsung HM100UX laptop drive recovery. Fortunately although affected by some bad sectors, all 6 heads were able to read all sectors with some adjustments - as a result a 100% recovery. This is worth noting since these were the last of the true Samsung 1TB 2.5" drives, the replacement Seagate equivalent tend to fail more catastrophically and although we have techniques to recover them, they more likely to have a small amount of file damage .

Hi Mohammed, This is one of those cases which shows how reliable hard drives are. This 20GB Seagate ST320414A had been working 7 days per week for over 10 years until a power outage. Whilst a power outage would likely affect any storage device including an equivalent sized SSD - solid state memory has yet to prove itself able to not only survive long term intensive read writes, but also are generally more likely to be corrupted or unrecoverable when affected by power surges.

Hi Pauline, this was indeed an interesting case, your particular Seagate ST31000528AS 1TB had degraded and despite best efforts to recover all sectors belonging to the data area some data was unrecovered but it was still 99.91% of the 336.2GB of data that was recovered. This saved the need to do a rebuild as originally envisaged and saved you any unnecessary cost.

Dear Hugh Whilst we accept the process was lengthy, it was in part due to your changing your mind about the file format required for the recovered data. Your drive failed during an upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10. You actually sent in 2 drives one Western Digital m/n WD30EZRS-11J99B1 Capacity 3TB , the other Hitachi m/n HTS725050A9A364, 500GB drive. After recovery you required the return drive data to be formatted for use with a MAC, this is where our processing of your case ran into a communications issue during the August Holidays and the recovered data had already been returned formatted for Windows NTFS which is how it came in. Once we understood that you were having problems reading Windows formatted drives on your replacement MAC system we were able to sort out the formatting of the drive. We have to take full responsibility for the communication issues and not realising that you were changing your operating system because you had lost faith in Windows. However it must be stated that MAC system drives fail more regularly than Windows drives especially in iMac systems and for the same reasons they do in Windows systems, Media degradation, power fluctuations, firmware issues and user interferences, so when making a judgement about any product or service, manufacturer or operating system it should be made in light of all the facts. “This is the best service I have ever used. My hard drive in a NAS failed on the Thursday. I tried to recover it myself on Friday/ Saturday but could not recognise the file system. I rang R3 on Sunday and received a call back about an hour later. Agreed a way forward. The disk was picked up on the Monday and I had a 1tb uSB drive delivered to my house the following Monday with ALL my data recovered. I was kept up to date by E Mails and telephone throughout the week. Could not ask for more. I cannot recommend R3 too highly. They were superb.”
