Hi Cal, thankyou for your review, I am sorry the condition of the drive meant that larger files like videos were affected by bad / unrecovered sectors. It may be possible to improve the recovery with extended rebuild attempts but at extra cost per rebuild. Let me know if this is of interest,
We were looking for a more cost effective data recovery solution for a home user so had a look at the R3 Data Recovery website. All looked good so I submitted an online request. I was impressed with the level of communication once the customer's hard drive had been sent to R3 and the speed at which the recovered data was returned. Great job so I will definitely use R3 again. Being the unhappy owner of a 2Gb memory stick which just stopped working, ie. no physical damage, just refusal to power on or mount onto a selection of machines, I was facing the loss of several critical files (one of which in particular contained 4 years worth of notes and details of an ongoing project). I contacted one (nameless) data recovery company who examined the device and stated that there was no physical damage (which was obvious), but the flash memory was damaged beyond repair, and no data could be retrieved. As a final resort I sent the stick to R3 Data Recovery on a Friday afternoon. By 6 pm on the Saturday, an engineer emailed me a list of the files he was able to retrieve, including the critical one, and following settlement of the (in my opinion, reasonable) invoice, a new data stick was promptly returned to me with all my missing files. Many thanks to R3 Data Recovery !

Hi Rob Some unbranded memory sticks can be problematic to work out how the data can be extracted when the controller fails, and although in this case we were successful, there are times even we don't have the solution --- yet, that said, due to our seeing more memory sticks than most data recovery labs we have 4 different systems and individual data recovery engineers to give the maximum chance of a recovery being possible. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review.
I thought all my data was lost but Andy explained what had happened and gave me options in terms of effort, time and cost. 90% of my data was recovered and Andy and his team kept me updated throughout. Exceptional service. I recommend them without hesitation.

Hi Mike Yes yours was certainly a problematic one, and required additional rebuild attempts and donors to improve the results. Potentially further improvement could be made but its a case of more cost and diminishing returns as the damaged platter surface is the last area to read. But all in all a good result for a drive which would normally be declared unrecoverable. Many thanks for the review Andy and the team at R3
Very impressed with the overall service. I first received a call from a member of the team to find out the problem I was having before he gave me a quote and had my drive couriered to their lab. I received a spreadsheet document listing all the data that was recoverable and once I'd made my final payment the data was recovered and the drive was couriered back to me. This took no longer than a week.

A damaged external hard drive with loads of picccies of the kids. A phone call, incredibly prompt pick up and all data recovered and on a new hard drive in less than a week. Really impressed and would definitely recommend.

I was very impressed with the service R3 data recovery gave they managed to save all my data from a faulty raid 5 system. The only problem i had was with delivery via UPS who failed to deliver the drives back on time but other than that i would recommend R3 again to anyone. They can save your data life !!!

Thanks for the review Daren Your 3 Disk RAID 5 had suffered from a power failure outage causing two of the Samsung HD204UI to be degraded. This prevented the RAID Rebuilding itself with a new disk Fortunately these are a robust drive and all degraded sectors were recoverable:- Disk 3 cloned 0 unread sectors Disk 2 cloned 0 unread sectors worked through 5k Bad Sectors Disk 1 cloned 0 bad sectors worked through 120 Bad Sectors We were able to process the recovery promptly - UPS do on occassion have problems but generally they are OK - We do offer our dedicated driver collection or return for GDPR / Data Protection / security compliance. Glad we could be of service Andy and the team at R3
Excellent communication, fast turn around, and all data was recovered from my knackered hard drive. Would definitely use again if another drive fails.

Glad we could assist with the recovery of your data from a failing Samsung Hard Drive James Andy and the team at R3 Data Recovery 0800 999 3282
When I originally fought the website and called I thought the service was to good to be true especially at the cost of £300 to get all my memories, movies and work documents back. However I couldn't have been more wrong, firstly the price I was quoted was without tax (no one mentioned that), secondly I received the totally wrong item that I requested and it was the wrong format for my Mac, which I had explained several times. Altogether its taken about 6 weeks when I was quoted 5 days. All the files I had recovered are in a mixed order when there was a lot of pictures etc, its not ideal to have them numbered so you have no idea where anything is, I don't know where to begin to try and organise them. The customer service I received was shocking. I would get an email from someone then when i returned their email I wouldn't get a reply for a few days on some occasions. When I tried to call I was told by Lauren that a technician would call me straight back. On several occasions I had to wait days or even had to call back to chase it up. Altogether this could have been a great service, but I'm highly disappointed and would defy not recommend the service to anyone. I felt as soon as you received payment you lost all interest in me as a customer. Regards Damon

Hi Damon Many thanks for the review, although from your point of view its negative from ours we recovered the data at the original price quoted despite the drive being much more problematic. A severe a head crash resulted after a power surge damaged the PCB, difficulties tracking down the correct donor PCB did not help matters. Unfortunately the area which contained the catalogue file was damaged by the heads scratching the platter, this meant that the recovered data could only be sent back as folders containing file types. But it is good data and full recovery of all files on the drive.. The total cost of £299+vat included:- Courier Collection and Return A new 2TB drive for the recovered data Donor PCB for Converting USB to SATA sourced from the US Bad Sector recovery Data Integrity Check and file list. VAT is something non of us can avoid, this is normal for our service and industry and is always mentioned in all communications. I am sorry for the problems with correctly formatting the drive, some communications issues do creep into the system in busy periods but is rare, The lab is engaged on a number of very intense disaster recovery engagements and sometimes can reduce our normally very prompt reaction times. As one of the few high capacity data and disaster recovery labs we are able to recover drives at reasonable cost which some companies would have re-quoted and charged more for. Again apologies for any inconvenience caused, and know that we continue to build on the past few years as the UK's leading independent data recovery lab. During July and August we are adding an extra DR Engineer and 2 support technicians so we can better cope with the growing number of cases we are handling month on month. Many thanks for the review Helen Our Seagate hard drive recovery specialist was able to gain access to the ST2000DM001 and make a full image, from which all data was recovered. However the drive may have been degrading over some considerable period before becoming inaccessible. The file list and integrity check showed well over 99% of files were in perfect condition. For future try to protect storage device via a UPS (uninterupptable power supply) Glad we could be of help. Andy
My 1 T external hard drive containing 96,000 files of precious family photographs and text fell of my work table and left me in real despair until I was given the R3 data recovery address. I contacted them on a Monday and sent off my failed driver and was so pleased with their response and being kept up to date during the whole process. I was contacted on the Friday of that week informing me that my data had been recovered. I am so impressed and happy with the whole episode and will not hesitate to pass on the R3 data recover address to others. Thank you to all in R3 data recovery.

Hi Phil Fortunately despite the drop the Seagate ST31000520AS drive survived, there was considerable platter damage, but the heads had survived and we were able to read all 200 GB of data, this despite some 192,000 sectors being unreadable. This is a good lesson to learn for any storage of data, it is better to have lots of spare space on a drive, in the event of anything going wrong the chances of a full recovery are much improved. In this case despite the drop a budget degraded service was all that was needed at £199+vat plus the cost of a new drive for the recovered data. Many thanks for the review Andy R3 Data Recovery
Great service, friendly & quick. Would use again and recommend to friends.

Hi David Many thanks for the review, glad we could be of service. The Western Digital WD20EADS-00S2B0 had succumbed to bad sectors as a result of power fluctuations but was fully recovered. Consider protecting your storage devices with a surge protector or UPS to limit the chances of this happening again. Andy
The data recovery element of the service was first class. You get what you pay for & they recovered 99.9% of my data & kept me informed all the way. I would use R3 again; they know what they are doing & did a great job. The reason I didn't give 5/5 is because of the poor courier service for the pickup & drop-off element. UPS failed to pick up my hard drive on two occasions from my work place. Now I work in an office in a hospital so it isn't the best place to find, however both myself & R3 Data gave specific instruction UPS to call me on my mobile once they had arrived, of which they failed to do on both occasions. Therefore I was forced to go to a UPS drop-off/pickup point after two failed attempts by UPS to pick up my hard drive. The delivery/return of my hard drive was where the real nightmare has occurred. As I work, I knew there was a big chance I wouldn't be in when the courier was likely to arrive, therefore I arranged for the courier (DPD) to deliver my hard drive at a drop-off/pickup store. I got the usual emails/text messages that my hard drive was available for collection from the store, I went to the store & the shopkeeper informed me there was no parcel for me, a driver dropped off two parcels earlier but they weren't for me & had already been collected by the appropriate person. Now with some investigation & a little running around, I managed to track down the person who had earlier collected these so called two parcels in the hope that one of them was mine & that it was just a mistake by the shopkeeper. The person was very helpful when I arrived & he knew straight away that the parcel he had wasn't meant for him. However what has happened is that DPD have put another person's label details over mine as I could see my details faintly on the label beneath. This has caused me all sorts of anxiety issues as you can imagine, my hard drive with all my personal data being in the possession of a stranger. DPD were not of much use either, I tried ringing their customer support office in hours but got no answer, emailed them but again, got no response even though its states on their website that they will respond within 90 minutes of each email received. R3 Data seriously need to review the courier service they use & the pickup/delivery mechanisms as the experience I have had are just not fit for purpose.

Hi Pritesh Many thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate the anxiety caused, but know we did everything we could to assist at every stage. As a small company we rely on the larger courier companies to enable collections and returns. Your case was very unusual and in part was as a result of your specific requirements. For the most part the national couriers work well, however we do offer dedicated driver collection and return at an extra charge, this is used by those who have security, data protection or value their data highly. We will also be taking this matter up with the couriers because it does not help us and we feel let down as well. Andy R3 Data Recovery

Hi Paul Thank you for taking the time to review we appreciate our clients were not expecting to ever need a data recovery lab. Your WD5000aakx-083ca1 500GB drive was degraded and was recovered on the budget service successfully with just a few damaged files showing in the file list and integrity report. Glad we could be of help. Andy

Hi Martyn Glad we could help, the old Maxtor was easily rebuilt and recovered. Our lab has several thousand donor drives in stock and access to a further 70,000 donors in the UK and more from the US, in this case we had the donor in stock and could process the work quickly. Many thanks for the review Andy R3 Data Recovery
When my external hard drive stopped working suddenly with important data potentially lost, I contacted R3 Recovery. Immediately, they took control and within 48 hours my drive was with them and they were able to give me an initial diagnosis of the problem as well as rough estimate of costs and options. They managed to retrieve all lost data and their service was exceptional. I had everything back within a week. I am very grateful to them for thier assistance.

Hi Anthony Those Western Digital WD2500JB-22REA0 250GB drives are actually quite reliable and it appears there had been an overvoltage. Paul our electronics rework specialist was able to find a suitable donor PCB and swap the ROM information. Additionally there had been a head crash during the failure but we were able to complete the recovery with just a very few unread sectors without the need for a rebuild. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review of R3 Data Recovery Andy
Enquiry for Data Recovery "I have a western digital external hard drive since 2009 and the drive is no longer working. My computer does not recognise it and I cannot access the data. An IT person at work has suggested that I use a data recovery company to recover the data from the drive and store on a new hard drive. Please advise. Thank you"
very poor terrible service unable to read instructions still have not returned my memory sticks despite chasing me for payment for a job they did not do can not recommend this company to anyone truly unprofessional

Hi Mark Many thanks for your review, although negative it does help us look into any issues with the service. I can now see where some of the issues have occurred and have asked our lab manager to report back to me. In the meantime I have emailed directly to you requesting some information. Hi Mark (Updated following internal review) Many thanks for your review, although negative it does help us look into any issues with the service. I can now see where trying to help in a case where the overwrite was catastrophic prior to the card arriving we failed to clearly state that any recovery attempt could not be done on a no recovery no fee. The recovery confirmed that you had overwritten all data after formatting and continuing to reuse the card. The quote and invoice of £149+vat was for the analysis of both card and samples sent in, the scan and transfer of the recovered data to a memory stick and return shipping. This was not possible so the invoice raised was credited and no charge made. For those reading, not all cases of data recovery can be no recovery no fee, this mainly applies to engineering level work not previously interfered with. ------ Memory Card 64GB "Was used in a Canon EOS T3i Camera The Pictures No 7147 through to 7736 - I have retrieved and are fine BUT Pictures No 7737 through to 7877 (140 Pictures) I am unable to view these are the only pictures I need Some of the pictures after 7877, I can see but I do not need any of these THIS CARD HAS BEEN FORMATTED" ------ TeamR3 pride itself on the excellence of service as well as the highest possible success rates but in some situations the wish to help is not enough as was the case here:- Andy R3 Data Recovery www.r3datarecovery.com
I retired 3 years ago, the company I worked for contacted me with a problem with a machine I made in the 1990's. The machine used a PLC to control it. As the machine had not been use for several years the back up battery had failed so the PLC needed to be reprogrammed. To My horror I discovered that the PC I used to program the PLC's had been dumped together with backups, cables, and software dongle. We managed to find the original soft wear disks but they are 5 1/4 inch floppies and old dos computers available. I managed to get a computer to run in dos only but no 5 ¼ inch drive. After contacting several data recover companies they could not help retrieve the data off the 3 floppies. That is until I contacted R3 Data Recovery these people really know what their doing they kept me well informed of their progress and within a week had recovered all the data of the floppies and at worthwhile reasonable cost. I highly recommend R3 Data Recovery they really helped my old company out of a major problem.

Many thanks for the review Terry. R3 Data Recovery has been developed over more than a decade with input from dedicated engineers from various specialisms. This has meant that the Security House and FME labs have the capacity to handle any type of data recovery task. From an OLD Floppy disk to an Entire Data Centre hit by lightening.
R3 Data Recovery Enquiry "When used as system disk it gets to blue splash screen before user logon but never loads anything else. Drive placed in the second computer and can not be accessed from dos, is visible in windows explorer but when you try and access it does nothing."
R3 Data Recovery handled our situation so quickly and professionally I could not fault them. They managed to recovery absolutely everything that potentially could have been lost from the hard drive. they explained the process from start to finish very clearly and i could not have asked for more. highly recommend them!
