“We ordered a cheese board as a present for Christmas which came without any problems. However we ordered £80 worth of meat for Christmas dinner which didn't arrive with DPD and because it past the safe time frame for delivery, was not delivered as unsafe to eat. This is a total waste of food. This happened because of problems with DPD being inundated due to postal strikes and isn't Pipers fault, however I feel if Pipers can't guarantee delivery within a safe time frame then they shouldn't be selling food online, due to the food waste. The main frustration was the total lack of communication from Pipers about the situation. After sending emails and leaving an answer machine message with no response I had to resort to leaving a comment on their Instagram page. It appears to have happened to a few people and I can only assume Pipers have been overwhelmed by lots of people sending emails, but I feel they could have put an announcement on their website explaining the situation and what they were going to do about it. This would have saved a lot of anxiety about what was happening and whether we are going to get a refund. We received a refund for the cheese board which was actually delivered but we haven't had a refund for the meat which we didn't receive, so had to send another email about this but again no reply as yet! It just feels like Pipers have been inundated with emails and is now chaotic which is a shame as we have used them a few times and have always been very pleased with the products and service. I'm sure we will also receive our refund and I'm sure Pipers are very disappointed with the situation too.”

“Meat as yet untried arrived on Monday as promised. Then this message came . Another delivery , not mine but it never appeared . Some muddle ? Great news! “Unhappy, booked a delivery slot for Christmas turkey crown , arrived a full 6 days before requested slot . Contacted Pipers by phone, had to leave a recorded message disappointed not to receive a reply.”

“Very upset this time with all the hair dark On the skin of belly pork looked awful and. So many on the turkey breast which I will have to pull out before I cook the turkey not sure what to do with the pork skin I’ve had belly before no problem”

“Delivery service was great although the actual product of black pudding has been a disappointment.I feel the product is lacking in seasoning and texture.I had high hopes in this product as I absolutely love black pudding and to find a company that use fresh blood and lardons from their own livestock was music to my ears but alas it didn’t live up to my expectations.A touch on the rubbery/dry side,very little seasoning and big lumps of fat unevenly spread through black pudding slice.This may be my own preference to what black pudding should taste like but I do feel you aren’t making the best tasting black pudding out of your quality products,I hope this feedback is of some use,many thanks Amye”

Hi Anne, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Durable, flexible, recyclable, with a lower carbon footprint than paper and infinite uses when disposed of responsibly, in many ways, plastics are brilliant. It’s no wonder that globally we have become increasingly reliant on them. Unfortunately, carbon footprint isn’t the only environmental issue to be considered when it comes to plastic. Large amounts of plastic are ending up in our oceans and are not being widely recycled as part of a circular economy. We’ve removed as much packaging as possible, you won’t find any plastic lurking in our boxes where it isn’t absolutely necessary. For any plastic we use we ensure that we use the lowest grade plastic possible in order to reduce our usage. Unfortunately, we can’t do without plastic-like material completely; without it, your food would not be able to be stored in the freezer leading to an increased rate of it going ‘off’ and being wasted, resulting in massive food waste. As we only work with whole carcass butchery, there is minimal plastic used at the beginning of our supply chain. Our carcasses are delivered from the abattoir to our butchery completely plastic free, it is only when we cut and wrap our meat do we add plastic to our products in order to meet food safety protocols and get the food to you safely. It is important to consider this and make the distinction, as in many other retail environments, such as butcher's shops and supermarkets, meat is repackaged multiple times during the long supply chain process, which means far greater amounts of plastic are used. It may be finally wrapped in paper by the butcher over the counter of a supermarket or in a butcher's shop, however that does not guarantee a reduced plastic supply chain and often masks the true story of how that product has arrived from farm to table. At the moment, recyclable plastic is the most sustainable material to use for many of our products. We’re constantly researching and testing new packaging options that will help achieve our mission. “Firstly why ask for a review when I've only just opened one packet? Better to wait until Ive eaten more of the product-I only bought last week! Secondly I dont understand why you dont use weights instead of this small/ mediem /large description. Puts mwme in mind of the useless "units" descriptor for alcohiol Sell by size and weight like normal folk!”

“The order arrived on time. Easy to choose shopping. The package is all frozen nothing fresh and very well shipped, it is a good service. The meat that I bought, chicken, mince, lamb, looks good but the taste compare to other farms was not the best. Price quality=3”

“On my recent order I ordered 2 pork steaks for £3 these items were tiny and mostly fat and the price of 2 for £3 was incorrect apparently, they were £3 each. Very disappointed”

“This was delivered as a gift. The message was not included in the delivery and the invoice was put in the box. Both the Chutneys ordered were not delivered. I found out because I checked. The products were on point, but not satisfied overall..”

“Ordered from Pipers Farm when staying at my parents house in Surrey as am use to great Wiltshire farm shops and wanted to see if they could supply us when in Surrey. Booking and delivery experience was great, easy and convenient. Products all arrived in good condition. They have a good range of products but miss the variety and high quality of our local farm shops. It is a good alternative if you are looking for straight from farm source in area where there is not many direct options.”

Hi Angela, thank you for your review. I'm very sorry to hear of this confusion, we always send items frozen in our deliveries as we believe freezing to be natures way of preserving food. We do mention that our items are sent frozen on each product page and in the FAQS amongst other places. I am sorry that you did not see this information on the Pipers Farm website and that you were expecting this fresh. If there is anything our team can do to help please do let us know.

“Have only tried the mushroom lasagne so far, which sadly was disappointing, as it had chillies in, which I was totally not expecting. I am not a fan of recipes that insist on putting chillies in everything. Really hoping that the rest of the items ordered are not the same.”

“Quality of products seems good, as usual, but most items had defrosted completely and the rest partially by the time they were delivered to me at my door: after 5 pm. The courier was not late. The time was as scheduled by DPD, but obviously there is a problem with frozen products in mid-summer unless an earlier time in the day can be guaranteed.”

Thank you for sharing feedback with me, Our team do include additional ice when it is very hot. We always send items frozen in our deliveries as Freezing is nature's way of preserving food. You can safely defrost and re-freeze Pipers Farm meat Because we have grown our meat so carefully you can defrost and freeze your meat too. There is a widespread faux pas that you can’t re-freeze meat once it has been defrosted. While we would not recommend you do not do this with supermarket meat, this is one of the benefits of shopping with Pipers Farm, our meat is completely safe to re-freeze. I hope this helps? “The reason for ordering from you was to try your black pudding. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with it. Although it had good-sized pieces of fat, it had virtually no taste. There was no aroma from the pudding being cooked. When I was a teenager about 65 years ago I could smell black pudding being cooked throughout the house. I have bought black pudding from several different sources. I have been uniformly disappointed with the products.”

“The fish had defrosted and I had to cook and eat it that day! I checked our cctv and the delivery was left on the doorstep at 1009am and I arrived home at 1040, very surprised to find it had defrosted in that amount of time.”
