“Required a carhire excess policy. A good choice was available at a range of prices. Information provided for each provider was good and sufficient to select a provider for further assessing suitability of policy.”

“Easy to find competitive prices and avoid be overcharged for these products buying from the car hire firms. However, better to check rep of the suppliers listed, with TrustPilot (my choice had no internal reviews but many and great on TrustPilot). Would be good to list TWO columns, so price of more than bare minimum listed too.”

Hi Alan, That is not the way it should work, and we will contact you today to see if we can help here. We can see you visited carhireexcess.com, so assume the problem was with their site, but are not sure what happened there. I am sure this can be fixed fairly easily especially as we have over a week before you need the policy. The Moneymaxim Team

“I was looking for Van Excess for a European road trip. The options were too limiting and the tool did not work as required.”

HI Thomas, I am afraid vehicle excess insurers offering European van hire cover are few and far between. The number of people wanting the hire a van for a European road trip is very small - and that's why most insurers do not feel it worthwhile to create such a product. We did display one to you but it is expensive (as van claims are more frequent that those for cars), and has an excess and I notice you did not click out to the insurer, so I guess you decided it was not for you. We are actually in the process of both carrying out due diligence on a second option and are also talking to another insurer about them developing a European van excess policy, so I am hopeful that we can can come up trumps for you in the future, but as at today I am afraid we can't. “My initial attempt to obtain cover resulted in the price quoted on Moneymax's site being inflated by some 60%! However, I am pleased to report that following a conversation with the "gaffa" of Moneymaxim, he kindly took me through the procedure again and - BINGO - I got the cover at the price I expected. Obviously, my fault. Thank you Mark for your excellent customer service.”

Fortunately we have sorted out the initial problem here - not sure where is went wrong but having rerun the process all is well, and the price matched to the penny! Very happy we resolved this, and thanks Vernon for your kind words.
