"**Barbour Beacon Jacket**\r\n\r\n I had posted this under the jacket, but will post it here as well.\r\n\r\nFirst off, I want to say that my experience with this company has been BEYOND pleasant. Their customer service and responses are incredibly rapid, to the point I received responses within minutes every time. The shipping was incredibly fast, I received my package (From England to California) in only 3 days. While I had my hesitations about the initial purchase, the product was true and legitimate with all tags and labels, and a price better than could be believed. Even with my hesitation on sizing, the customer service was willing to measure the different jackets for me and allow me to make changes to my order accordingly. \r\n\r\nBarbour Beacon Jacket-\r\nAs for the jacket itself, everything you read about this jacket online is true. The sizing on this is incredibly tricky, with a slim chest and the sleeves riding high in the armpit, choosing the right size is difficult. I have noticed that as the size increases so do the sleeve lengths. The sleeves will run slightly down over your hand with this being an outdoor style jacket. The jacket does appear to have a plastic liner underneath the plaid fabric to help with waterproofing, but it can make the interior of the jacket fairly-warm and humid. I would not wear additional or thick layers under this jacket, especially with the tightness in the armpits. \r\n\r\nSizing- \r\nI\u2019m currently 5\u201911\u201d, weigh 185lbs, 42\u201d chest, 34\u201d waist, and have an athletic build. I purchased the LARGE. \r\nWhat they say about this jacket is true about going up a size. All my other regular day-to-day jackets are medium, with this I went with a LARGE and it fits appropriately. However, if you have a more athletic or muscular build (with increased chest, back, or shoulder muscles), you will find the jacket to be a bit binding in the arms upon reaching forward (pictured). I found rotating my shoulders and hiking the jacket up a bit higher helps to combat this. If you are near my size yet more of a barrel-chested individual or someone whose body doesn\u2019t taper to the waist, an XL would probably serve you better. In the midriff, the jacket fits like that of a suit jacket, but is not tight or restricting. While for my shoulders I would have preferred an XL (See the tightness in the back when arms brought forward), I know the rest of the jacket would have been far too large for my frame. I have also noticed that with the triangular patch holding the jacket closed, the neck can get a bit tight with forward or bending motion. Some individuals have had some success tailoring this jacket, but the tailors in my region refuse to touch it for skill reasons, and even recommending keeping the large and that I would be dissatisfied with the XL. So if you purchase this with the intent of modification, be warned it may be more difficult or costly than you think. \r\n\r\nOverall, the jacket is beautiful and well made, with great attention to detail given. It is a classic-looking jacket that I\u2019m happy to finally have in my collection and glad that I went with Michael Stewart Menswear to purchase it."

“Great price, order process, communication and shipping (international) on a Barbour jacket and waistcoat liner. However, even though the jacket and waistcoat liner were ordered in the same size, the waistcoat liner was way too big. Unfortunately, the shipping of international returns/exchanges are not handled well. The cost of the return shipping (paid by the customer) was more than the price of the waistcoat liner not to mention a complicated procedure to ensure it was not treated as an import requiring additional taxes. It would be helpful to provide a mechanism for international customers to facilitate returns and exchanges without the shipping cost being greater than cost of the product.”

“The Barbour jacket is precisely as described. It arrived promptly and was well packaged. As always with Barbour, you get what you pay for and the quality is excellent. I am delighted with the coat. One word of guidance. I was surprised by the size of the customs' import duties when ordering from the UK and delivering to the Republic of Ireland (Euro 92). Due to Brexit, these need to be factored in by purchasers in the EU from this supplier.”

“Everything was very fine on my order, the only thing that was bad (and I don't blame MSM for this), was that due to Brexit I had to pay approximately 30 GBP extra in customs clearence, to have the package delivered 🤓”

“MSM has a good selection of Barbour’s clothing. Eventhough shipping came outside from EU the delivery was very quick - jacket was in use within a week from order. You just have to pay taxies asap to carry on with delivery. As Barbour wax jackets are made in UK there are no customs, only VAT to be paid. VAT has to be paid for orders over 150€, therefore it would make sense to keep total expense under it when jacket itself was 140€, but shipping took it over 150… expensive couple of euros.”

“The service at Michael Stewart Menswear should normally deserve an absolute “5-star plus” rating if only Brexit did not exist (I’m an EU customer): I could buy the piece of clothing I wanted for a long time at an excellent price; the order treatment, payment and delivery were flawless… but not fearless and with a little surprise : - I feared things would become very complicated should the size not be the right one. I could find the exact measurements of that Barbour jacket on a competitor website (not yours…) and confirm that the size I was ordering should be ok so I minimised the risk I was taking but was totally unsure about what would happen in terms of costs (VAT and other tax impacts) should I need an exchange… - even more so since the import tax/duty calculator that you provide online is unfortunately not correct: it says that only VAT will apply, but an additional import duty was applied - an additional 12% that I discovered once the parcel landed in my country and had to pay to get my parcel with no way out. This said, the experience remains positive - lead-time to delivery was short overall, I love my Barbour, and despite the little disagreements I’m prepared to be a repeat-buyer with Michael Stewart !”
