“MapServe provide the best quality OS Plans with easy to use Layers. Not too many such that it is easy to reproduce in architectural drawings but enough that there is plently of option to present linetypes in different ways. The Historic Mapping function is also extremely useful.

“Overall I am quite happy with the service. Starting out the website isnt the particularly logical to use and I mistakely purchased drawings in the wrong format. After a few goes it got easier. I have experienced a few glitches recently to do with searching using grid refs / latitude and logitude coordinates and also postcodes. I have been receiving blank previews and had to search using another option from the pull down menu. This often gives areas outside of the area I require and I cant move the map to the desired location due to the restriction in field of view for that search area. Using other search options to grid reference is not always possible as a lot of the sites I need mapping for are rural or remote without place names, addresses, post codes, etc.
A bigger concern is the price of mapping, although cost is payable by our clients they always comment on how much the maps are! This has meant that we have had to reword our estimates and quotes stating likely costs of associated mapping as these are in some cases very expensive. An area with virtually no linework or annotations costs the same as an area with loads of information....Does this have to be the case? Rural mapping may cost proportionally less than urban mapping or vice versa...Does this have to be the case? Also what constitutes urban mapping and what constitutes rural mapping?

Some of the issues you’ve raised—like format selection and coordinate searches—often come down to input specifics. That said, we’re continuously improving the interface and reviewing recent glitches you've mentioned to ensure smooth use, especially for rural sites.
Regarding pricing, mapping costs are set by Ordnance Survey and apply uniformly regardless of detail level, which can seem disproportionate in less dense areas.
