“I’m very impressed by Love Logs and the superb results of using their applewood in my BBQ smoker. Delivery was prompt and the wood burned very nicely with lots of delicious smoke. The logs (25cm length) were quite a bit wider though than expected and I found my hand axe (or technique) were not up to splitting them into smaller pieces easily. I would be really interested if it would be possible to order thinner pre-split pieces in future. Or else some pictures comparing the 15 versus 25cm lengths offered would be useful. Thanks!”

Hello! Thanks so much for your review and for the feedback! Apple is a really difficult wood to split, even using specialist machinery - it's super knotty, so there's only so thin you can split it before the logs disintegrate and the timber is wasted, due to the power of our machinery. It can split further but you need a decent splitting maul. I’ve attached a photo to your review, showing the 25 and 15cm logs together, and will try and get something better taken for the site - appreciate the idea! We do thinner splits of beech, if that's of interest, beech is a beautiful smoking wood and it splits much easier for us. “Great service as ever from Love Logs. Their pizza oven kindling is the best I've tried. Really pleased to see they now sell charcoal that's sustainably sourced and produced in the UK. Ordered my first batch last week and it arrived within 2 days. Haven't had a chance to use it yet because of all the rain but looks to be top notch quality”

“Love this company - amazing wood products and run by lovely people with a genuine passion for cooking with wood. Personally I'm using the wood for smoking wood for long brisket/rib/pulled pork cooks and the flavour I get is second to none. Hoping to expand my BBQ/grill/oven set up over the next few years and LoveLogs will be my first port of call when the time comes for wood logs!”

“I've already put this review on Trustpilot, but maybe this goes somewhere else, so I've chopped it again : I've been buying dust for cold smoking from another supplier for over 10 years, but recently had a minor altercation with them about a faulty product, so thought I'd look around and see who else was out there. I found Love-logs, as well as several others who failed my assessment. I emailed Love-logs to enquire about the suitability of using their dust in a traditional style spiral. I asked about the general quality, and particularly the 'fineness' of the dust, which is notoriously difficult to get lighted. I received very prompt and convincing reassurance, so ordered a 3kg bundle, which DPD said would be delivered the very next day (I delayed it because I would be out). I used it immediately. On opening the packets I was immediately impressed with the fineness of the dust, and it lit easily first time with a tea light. The spiral burned completely round, and when I emptied it this morning to refill for a second run, I was amazed how clean the burn was. The spiral needed very little scraping indeed. Previously my old dust would need considerable scraping out, as it left quite a thick 'tarry' residue around the spiral each time. Delighted. Here's to another 10 years with my new supplier!”
