“"Retired oak whisky barrels, cut and dried to produce oak smoking chunks with a lovely hit of whisky - you can smell it as soon as you open the bag!" I have bought Whisky barrels from other companies before and normally there is a Whisky smell, sadly not this time.”

Hi Matt, Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the smell of your chunks. As you can imagine when we buy retired whisky wood, by its nature there will always be some variability in what we receive... how long the barrels were empty, how dry they have got and how long the wood is in our warehouse before we ship it will all make a difference. However, I'd like to reassure you these are genuine whisky barrel oak and will still impart wonderful flavour on your food when burned. Happy smoking 🔥 Paul

Hi David, I'm sorry you feel this way! For every box of logs, the delivery costs us more than £6 and the shipping box more than £2, so with £8 spent just getting it to you, it's natural that we end up more expensive than locally collected logs. We tend to find our regular customers are those happy to pay a bit more for the convenience of next day delivery, but we understand that our business model isn't for everyone. Glad you liked the quality of the logs! Paul

If the logs are quick to light and heat, that means they're very dry and shouldn't smoke, and as you can see from the product feedback we don't really get anything but 5 star reviews. “To be honest my item wasnt what i was expecting both the logs and the charcoal burned through very quickly and were not best suited for smoking”

Hi Chris, I'm really sorry to hear you didn't have the experience you hoped, we normally only have great feedback regards both the Caradoc charcoal and our smoking chunks. What sort of barbecue/smoker are you using? With 3kg of the Caradoc I find I can easily smoke for 5-6 hours on my Weber kettle, and only use around 1 to 1.5kg for shorter smokes such as spatchcock. Did you not find you were able to achieve this sort of length cook? I'll drop you an email now to see if we can do anything to fix this. Paul
