I had a terrible experience with L&C and can't help but believe it's because I wasn't willing to back down and use their solicitors and ensure the sales guy got extra bonus!! During the first conversation I was very clear that we were looking to exchange quickly (4 weeks); and was advised that he would pick a bank with a good rate but who would also get things going quickly!!! Three weeks later I still have no mortgage as the Bank he picked didn't recognise my solicitor and seemed incapable of adding them on. If you add to this the tone of the emails; when he hadn't asked me the right questions and I politely explained the difference between a valuation and sales price. AVOID and go local ... we had it arranged in an hour and a half with our local bank.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review, Angela. We’re sorry to read this and we’d like to address some of your concerns around service. Our advisers will offer the option to use our recommended conveyancing service which is comprised of a panel of different solicitors and conveyancing firms. The service aims to offer a level of control and service standards to help the transaction progress smoothly. Having access to a range of firms helps to manage that effectively for our customers and helps ensure that lenders will be happy to work with the solicitors. However, we understand that customers will have their own preferences and the conveyancing service is entirely optional. I’m sorry you felt that the process was sales driven but there is no obligation and your choice to use your own solicitor would certainly not impact the service on your case. If you do believe that the right questions were not asked or communication tone was inappropriate, we would be happy to investigate this on your behalf. Simply email us at socialmedia@landc.co.uk with your case number, full name and postcode. Thank you

I researched mortgage brokers a lot before deciding to go with L&C. Very quick response to my request for a call back. Our Advisor from the start (Erin) has been absolutely superb, always quick to respond to emails and calls and has kept us up to date at all times. Everything has been taken care of for us, all we had to do is produce documents when requested. They found us the best lender to suit our needs and with a great interest rate, all the solicitor business taken care of as well as a protection policy.

Today I experienced the behaviour of a rude, bad mannered mortgage advisor who gave the impression that he didn't care if I got a mortgage or not and encouraged me to take my business elsewhere. He wasn't experienced, helpful and did not even try to get me a mortgage. I cannot recommend this company at all.

Really not a great service. As soon as it become apparent my mortgage application was not going to be the easiest the phone calls dried up, I would ring in and leave messages and would not get calls back when promised. After a couple of weeks of I went to another broker for a second opinion and had a mortgage in principle within three days with a high street lender and within two weeks I had a mortgage offer from the same lender. I have now completed on buying my first house despite the delays L&C caused.

I had to repeat everything despite saying i did not have much time. This was not a communication issue - the advisor had heard me but I got the impression he had entered some details into the wrong box. This happened twice, with no explanation or apology for my rapidly deteriorating time. After i went to ask my partner something (without using the mute button, so he would hear that i was only feet away and only going to be a few seconds) I told the advisor the answer. He said nothing, so i thought he was doing something on the computer. Minutes later, I said "hello?" to see if he was still there, and he had not even taken a note of my answer. Poorest call centre experience ever - on par with unsolicited sales calls from foreign countries, with slightly better line quality for the audio...

An awful company to work with. My advice is do not use them under any circumstances. They recommended a mortgage not based upon best value but on what was in their interest, we ended up with five different contacts which made communication nearly impossible. I found one lady who tried to get things sorted but was no better than the rest when it came to following through on promises.

We had an application going through sourced by L&C. The chosen lender then reduced the amount they were willing to lend. At this point L&C dropped the case like a hot stone. As soon as this happened no one at L&C was interested and we eventually drifted off to another broker who successfully secured the mortgage. Getting any information from L&C about the reasons for the change was extremely difficult as was getting hold of a copy of the valuation that we had paid for. All their friendliness will evaporate if it appears they can't get an application through.

Shocking customer service! I was trying to get my first mortgage for a property. I was recommended by a friend. The guy called Daniel started out helpful, making promises that he would help me get the right mortgage then suddenly poof and he disappeared. Wouldn't respond to my email or telephone call. Very rude!! I think L&C show you their high percentage of successful mortgages because they discard the ones who are less likely to be successful like a piece of Sh**. I ended up going with someone else, was excellent, all my future properties will be with this broker. Thank you L&C for making me see the dark before the light!!

My mortgage procedings are taking place at a dipicable rate. Due numerous discrepancies, none which are my fault. Vital papers have not been read throughly which has lead to resending these documents as and time is running our due negligence . Lack of correspondence. Some incompetence as taken place along the line, which has had knock on effect and I am currently fighting against time for completion as I am remortgaging. I wouldn't recommend London & Country to my worst enemy and would rather pay a premium for a finacial advisor. Disgusting service

It’s true what they say …you get what you pay for. I contacted L&C to assist with my adverse credit application and was referred to Alex (broker). I had already done my research and knew what my options were. To cut a long story short, he didn’t know the lender’s borrowing criteria (I knew more than he did) and was sluggish at responding. He also gave me wrong advice about commission/ bonuses being factored into mortgage multiples!! Complete waste!

I rang to discuss mortgage options and the man I spoke to on the phone sounded very disinterested, I felt very insulted when he belittled mine and my partners earning, flat out said theres no chance of getting a mortgage till we get rid of a car and get better jobs, kept referring to our jobs as temporary due to the fact we're fixed contracts& was incredibly rude. I will be spreading the word about how I was spoken too& considering I am a first time buyer really put me off.

1/ Our previous mortgage was through L&C. But when the Case Manager left the company our existing records appear to have been disregarded and we had to start all over again. 2/ Since approaching L&C to discuss our mortgage requirements in mid-February, we had dealings with seven different people – plus an (unimpressive) online tracking service. 3/ We were advised to take a mortgage through HSBC (our bank) and assured that we met all criteria. We were then told our application had failed. Then we were told this failure was a mistake by HSBC and our application was being fast-tracked. Then we were told it had failed a second time & advised that it wasn’t the best choice anyway. We were then advised to apply for a mortgage through Santander. Then we were told the HSBC application had not failed, but HSBC just needed proof of address. But when I phoned HSBC they told me it was a simple internal process & they couldn’t see why L&C hadn’t addressed it with a simple phone call. Our initial impressions of L&C professionalism had already faded badly – but by this point they vanished. 4/ In exasperation, we contacted a rival broker, and the experience was like light and day. We found their service to be much faster, very much more personalised and they got it right first time, with Approval in Principle on the same day. Most importantly, on those occasions when we phoned the brokerage, it was always possible to actually speak with the relevant person within 30 minutes – rather than always having to leave a voicemail that would prompt a response at some point in the following 3 days. The process was a simple one. We quickly received a formal offer. Our experience suggests L&C needs to make substantial improvements in its efficiency, communications & standards of customer service.

I throught i would move with the times and try out these online morgage adviser's. I spoke to a person called Andrew at L and C he was set as my morage adviser. After a couple of minutes of speaking to him he said he had to finish another client and ring me straight back, waiting all night no reply. So i throught id give them another try the next day. Good to say the people i spoke to after was very helpful and gave me all the information i needed to do a remortgage and a buy to let mortgage. The sad thing was once i found the property i wanted to buy i got passed back to this Andrew witch once again said to me after speaking to very briefly. I cant get your report up ill ring you straight back. Two hours later i rang him, for him to say they hadnt sorted the problem but he was working late. So once i finished work he promised he would ring me that night and give me an hour of his time. Well im asumming these people didnt want to earn any money off me because once again the guy couldnt be bothered to ring me. But it did leave me in a sticky situation for a couple of minutes. You dont really want the hassle of explaining to the estate agents your making offers and you haven't even really got a backing of a morage company. I had to make a few phone calls and thankfully im glad to say a big thank you to Andrew for letting me down I found a great morgage adviser. May of cost me 250 pound but worth every penny. To have someone who actually advises you instead of giving you figures off a computer screen. I wouldnt like to say all people who work for this company are bad or unreliable but when i needed them they let me down.

I was trying to secure a mortgage last month through a broker at London and Country. I was pressured into making very quick decisions about which type of mortgage to opt for on the phone after 5 minutes of terms for various mortgages being reeled through. I was also pressured into purchasing life incurance through them, and despite being quite firm about not being interested in this I was spoken down to and pressured further, including being told about various illnesses I might get and how I would pay my mortgage if that happened. When I asked the broker to email me over the information for me to consider the options they did not do this but continued to send emails to pressure me into making a decision. The broker also asked for a lot of information which I had to contact my estate agent for to ask the vendor to supply me with - I have since been advised that this information is what is required for people looking to remortgage a property not people in my situation. In the end I had to search for an alternative broker last minute. Having experienced what the process should be like I am shocked at how difficult and stressful L&C made it.

Remortgaging is often stressful but L & C make it easy. The brokers are easy to deal with and listen to what you want. The deals are excellent and the switching process was simple. All done earlier than I thought saving me money in the process. So no hassles and free service and no pushy sales people. A very happy customer.

I struggled to obtain a mortgage through other companies because I was not being informed the correct way and the advise I was being given did not help or support me in anyway. I have to say that L&C did everything they could to help me and presented me with options which I though was a great touch. I am very satisfied with how the whole procedure went and I will be definitely be using L&C in the future.

I've never written a feedback post before but in this instance I feel compelled to do so. I was not informed of my rejection for my mortgage aparently days after it was turned down. To be more accurate I read the application and phoned my case manager and advisor who was "just about to get in touch with me". In the meantime L and C continued to request my documents I guess under the supposition that I would reman a loyal customer. We agreed (last week) to submit to a new lender yesterday but now I can't find either my advisor or a case manager to speak to me. I'm about to lose the house I'd spent weeks negotiating over. I'm okay with rejection by the lender however I expect my broker to communicate with me.
