“My details were passed onto a number of solicitors, rather than me being able to get the cheapest quote and call them myself. This means I've had more than 10 calls and even more emails since yesterday which is really frustrating when I am trying to communicate with various parties about my flat purchase.”

“As soon as I completed the survey, I was bombarded by emails from various solicitors. I do not recall giving permissions for my details to be shared and it's made things very stressful!”

“I just wanted a quote and then time to sit and look all through them. However within an hour of going on the site I was receiving phone calls from the surveyors telling me their prices and saying they had free appointments this week!!! By looking at the site I could see the prices so did not need them calling me immediately and offering their services.”

“One website said the surveyor did not do the type of survey he'd quoted for. Another was the other side of the country. When I phoned another about their quote they had not added on the item I requested, so had to quote again, higher.”

“1. No proper public surveyor rating system. The system that is there seems like its at the control of the surveyor. 2. The people that give quotes on this system could be people that have been thrown out of RICS or other industry schemes, its totally up to the user to find this out. 3. The quotes given can mean nothing as some surveyors say that they need to discuss your particular requirements to give a proper quote. Given all these points, this is really nothing more than a classified ads listing.”

“This review is not so much about the service provided by Local Surveyors Direct as the surveyors who sign up to it. I was immediately contacted by a surveyor who was 'just happened to be in the area'. They seemed pleasant enough but also gently pressured me into a no obligation visit. When they arrived they then 'hammed up' the nature of the assistance I required persuading me I couldn't do without them. I ended up paying them £340 for some plans which were not only totally unnecessary but turned out to be completely wrong! I basically thew my money away by using this service.”

“A bit misleading, I thought it was an information site, and I didnt realise that it triggered actions, and that I would be contacted directly. I decided to use another internet Survey provider, now I am getting unwanted emails.”

“I actually asked for local architects but got a list of architectural technologists instead, some of whom contacted me and were quite forceful in persuading me to use their services and not get in an architect - in fact in some cases rubbishing the need for a fully qualified architect. I am afraid I did not find this very helpful as I had already made the decision that I needed and was prepared to pay for a full architect.”

“I was really disappointed to be bombarded with phone calls and voicemails minutes after using this site. I was under the impression I would be free to contact people in my own time. I didn't realise my details would be passed out immediately to surveyors. Do not use if you don't want to receive multiple phone calls!”

“Quite surprised that less than 24hours after submitting my request on a sunday you are asking for a review. Well of the eight companies details you supplied two made contact. One was based in Glasgow with a sensible price. The other based in Edinburgh where I require the work done but at double the price. Far from impressed with the timing of your review request and would hesitate to recommend. Further to my initial reply the e mail address given for Edinburgh company who contacted me is not accepting mail. They contacted me by phone with a price and when I tried to contact them by e mail at the address you listed george@pmas-edinburgh.co.uk a refusal came back to my mail in box Dear oh Dear”

“The details you provided me were very good but I do not appreciate getting hassled via phonecalls from yourselves and surveyors. Since doing the review I've had at least 5 missed calls and around 3 voicemails within 24 hours. There should be an option to stipulate if you wanted to be contacted or not. This experience has not been pleasant and one I will not be repeating!”

“I tried your site as test as you had emailed my firm asking us to sign up to it ( we are a conveyancing solicitors) The problem from my point of view is you allow firms from way outside of our area to advertise at prices it would be impossible to match by a firm in the London area. Indeed. I doubt any firm anywhere could really act in a purchase for £299 without cutting corners or making a loss. So unless you restrict firms to offering services in their own geographical area and find some way of making it clear it is quality of service and not just price which should be taken into account there is no point us joining you Regards Robert Sayer”

“This wbsite was useful for finding architects n the local area but I did not appreciate being called at work repeatedly within the same afternoon almost as soon as I had completed the search. Similarly being called at home at 8pm in the evening was irritating. I would have liked to collect telephone numbers, do my research on each company and then contact the ones I liked, instead I felt hassled.”
