“The garage key was broken in the lock. After agreeing a price over the phone with Cathy including site visit, £59 +VAT and replacing the lock between £20-30, the locksmith arrived promptly but then wanted to charge £220, no where near the £100ish mark I was expecting. After stating that this was not the price that was agreed with Cathy, the locksmith then called his manager and he offered £170 for the work which I declined as the trust was truly broken and agree no where near the £100 mark I was expecting. I then tried to speak to Cathy who had gone home for the day and spoke to another gentlemen who supported the new price even though I told him what Cathy and I had agreed over the phone before the site visit. I paid for the site visit and the 30 seconds he took to open the lock only which was the £59 +VAT and called Timpson’s the next day who replaced the lock. Will never use this company again and would recommend you all avoid using their services as they cannot be trusted.”
“I used these some years ago when I was locked out and alone one night - I was charged over £700. My insurance company said that it should have not cost more than £213. It was also very badly fitted.
I had to pay at the time and then asked for a suitable refund but was offered just over £110. I’d had a death in family at the time so had no energy to take them to court. I would not recommend - especially for lone women.”
“Absolute rip offs , didn’t even do anything, put his hand on handle. Got his phone out, gave me ridiculous quotes that went into £400/ £460 …… felt intimidated. Demanded £49 cancel fee ……. Going to trading standards
Do not use them”
“Appalling. Steer clear. Charged £627 for drilling and replacing a wooden door Yale lock and inner door release. Invoice details £125 + cat - again customer signature faked. Avoid this company!”
“Very unhappy with the price I was charged for replacing the lock on my back door. I was quoted £79 + VAT for an emergency call-out. The price stated on the phone was ‘if it was straightforward’. When the locksmith arrived he said it wasn’t straightforward. He would have to drill out the existing lock and replace it. This complicated job took him all of 20 minutes. This included the writing out and emailing an invoice to me for £140 for ‘lock out’ and £90 for replacement lock + VAT. A total of £276 for 20 minutes work. On top of that he forged my signature on the invoice without my permission. I am a very dissatisfied customer. Will never use this company again.”
“Really disappointed, was told that the service would cost 59.95 i asked if there would be any additional cost . (Had lost key to a built in cupboard). Was surprised when they said that was the total cost for opening door. So asked again and they again said that would be total cost . When they arrived the locksmith said it was a big job and would be 145. I disputed this and said the price i was given , he responded and said that shouldn’t have been said . The job took less than 5 minutes.
Locksmith was polite and professional.”
“Failure to inform me that the door alignment diagnosis would incur a doubling of original fixed price quotation for 15 minutes work.
Most definitely will never use you again!”
“DO NOT USE. I called the phone number and explained my requirements exactly, that I had a 5 lever Chubb lock with no key, I was quoted 60 pounds.
On arrival, the "locksmith" said the job would be more complicated as that is the fee for a simpler lock. So after I pressed him for a price he said 120, I reluctantly agreed as I needed the lock sorted, he then proceeded to cut the lock bolt with an angle grinder, he then does not have a replacement lock and wants to come out the next day to fit it, and charge me for another lock, when pressed on the price for the new lock he is evasive…
At this point I think I will cut my losses, and pay the 120 he has quoted, but suddenly the price does not include VAT….
So in short I have now paid 148.80 for half a job, for which I was quoted 60.”
“Called out at 11pm. I was quoted £150 plus VAT and the cost if a lock if needed. I agreed. A new lock was required but tried to add on another £45 plus VAT to install it. Then when questioned, I was shouted at and told because it was a complex entry (it took 3 mins to drill a basic lock out) it should be £190 plus VAT then add on the lock then £45 to fit (look 60 seconds). The locksmith himself was OK, but the operator misquoted and the company tried to add on more charges when you are in a vulnerable position and are rude and unhelpful. Quite discusted, would not recommend.”
“Told me it was going to be 49.50 for labour, and £20 for the lock plus VAT. Explained it’s for a front door and when the man came he said they start at £75 not £20. Ended up being very expensive.”
“This was an appalling service. The locksmith was nearly 2 hours late. We were not informed he would be this late. I was supposed to be at work.
The cost was huge. I had been led to believe that one key for our lock would cost £29.99 + the cost of the key itself - in the end, we were charged £196 - this was 10 minutes work. I'm appalled.”
“Con artists.
They quote one of the cheapest prices on the market and then they intimidate you to pay higher prices with bogus charges.
The guy they sent started to violently bang his tools in frustration when I told him to leave.
Read the negative reviews, those are the real ones. Word of advice, search on the Master locksmith association for a professional and avoid these cowboys.
They are not to be trusted and I’ve reported them to trading standards.”
“Speedy response. However costs were exploitative. £660 to drill out lock ( door damaged) and fit a new lock. First cost was in the region of £250 then rose to £56O then was told tax would make it £660. Decidedly fleeced.”
“Charged over £600 + VAT to drill out a lock and replace door handle, didn't seem to know what they were doing, using a drill at full speed and burning out lots of drill bits some damage to the door hidden by the new handle - I would avoid.”
“allservices4u.co.uk charged me £252 to change a lock - the lock they fitted was not suitable for my front door so the utility company for my block of flats changed it - been trying to get a refund and they have not bothered to reply to email, mail or phone call - AVOID THESE CNUTS!”
