Misleadingly incomplete information by whoever answered at office. Be ready for it costing several times more! I was only given the callout charge of 59+20%VAT. The indicated charge for a lock was reasonable but became £185+VAT on grounds it was a double lock. Once the workman had arrived, whose attitude I didn't care for, an extra £45 + VAT hourly rate was added. Unexpected and the workman just said the office don't disclose everything. The workman then said the blade, previously installed, was too long alluding to it likely to cause problems over time. I.e. trying to get me to replace more. I didn't buy that so it was installed and time will tell. Payment by bank transfer had to be done but the guy insisted on taking a photograph. as evidence it was done. I held my tablet but thumb over my bank account number and sort code. Not an experience I've finished feeling happy about. Why not have electronic card payment?

I was locked out of the house today and panicked, especially with it being Boxing Day, but was very reassured when the lady I spoke with said they could have someone with me within 30 minutes. She informed me the price was £89.50, but could go up depending on the work needed. After 40 minutes and no one had turned up, I called them and spoke to the same lady. She said the locksmith had been delayed at the previous job but was on his way. I asked her for an ETA, and she agreed she'd get the locksmith to call me directly. He didn't, but he did text me that his ETA was 35 minutes!! He showed up 45 minutes later. So to do the math, I called at 11.40am and was told someone would be with me within 30 minutes, so, around 12.10pm. They turned up at 1.15pm, so it took them 1.5 hour to arrive, that is 3x as long as quoted. Not to mention, no one called me to say there was a delay, I had to chase then. The lady on the phone also had extremely poor customer service skills; I explained her why I was unhappy and she just went silent. I asked her if she was still there after a while (I thought she might have been checking something on the system), and she said yes. Again, I waited for her response, but there was just awkward silence. I asked her if she wasn't going to answer me or what, and she basically just said the guy was delayed and that's it. No apology or anything. The locksmith came and he was great, less than 10 seconds and I was in. However, when it came to payment, it was all of a sudden £106.80, as apparently the price I had been quoted didn't include VAT. The lady on the phone hadn't mentioned this. It's not fair to give only 1 star, as the locksmith came and resolved the issue, but everything around it was greatly disappointing.

Managed to lock myself out of my home and contacted this company, they said they aim to be with me in 1 hr but they aim for 30 mins. 3 hrs had gone by with no communication, I called 4 times about 15 mins half an hr between each for an update to be told someone would contact me with an ETA - 3.5 hrs later the locksmith arrived to advise me that he told them he will be on a job for the next 3 hrs and to let me know but no one did, in this time I could have contacted someone else or at least got collected a family member so I wasn’t waiting out in the freezing cold.

Arrived in the time agreed. Fixed the problem however I was taken aback by the charge of £118 for sawing a padlock open and telling me I needed to replace it. The whole procedure took 2 minutes which equates to £59. a minute. Nice work if you can get it.

Person opened the door, but was lazy and gobbed off for not telling him that it was gonna be an easy job sooner. He had to carry his lightweight equipment up the small staircase to reach the 1st floor, by which time I told him he would only need to use an easy to bend card to open the door (as it happened before and I remembered what the other door specialist used). He wasn't happy that I didn't tell him before he had to climb the staircase. Then he boasted about how he spent his life savings on a cheap samsung device which I would be entering my card details in and demanded that I do not drop it, reminding me of a previous customer he had where they dropped it and paid an exorbitant fee. He opened the door though, so theres that...

The locksmith was efficient and knowledgable He managed to get the door open and I was charged £70. He said I needed a new locking mechanism but just the key box I have found the exact one online for £31 and he wanted to charge me £325 with the part being £125 Absolutely extortionate. I told him to stop the work and just paid the £70 for getting the door open. I won’t be using this company again

Wishing to bring about a settlement in the payment policy. I asked several times for assistance in the matter but my requests went unheeded. And still it goes on.

Didn’t really know what to do. Very expensive. End up with a local firm that was much better and cheaper

Tried to pick the lock for about 40 seconds then just drilled it out and charged £70. I would’ve done it myself had I known.

Hi Thank you for taking the time to leave us a reviw. The price charged is our hourly call-out fee. I am glad we were able to get you into your property.

£70.80 for putting a bit of wire through letter box and opening it which took 30 seconds, it took him longer to right the invoice. He was at the property max 5 minutes £50 maybe but not £70 . I am in the building trade ? And no one is on £70 pound an hour

Hi Paul Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Our standard charge is 59 + VAT and I can see that is what you have been charged. I can only apologise if this was not made clear at the time of booking.

Polite and friendly. Came out quickly even though not an urgent issue. Labour charges of £50 plus vat is fair. Would have been 5 star review at this point. However, was charged parts cost of £135 plus vat for a cylinder that I have subsequently found is around £25 plus VAT. I can understand a 10 to 20% markup. But a £100 markup can only be called a rip off and I'll accept I'm the fool for not having checked the price online. But, nevertheless, it's still a rip off and so only 2 stars.

I was quoted £50 to repair a door lock that was damaged. The guy was there 1 hour and charged £120, to get it open, not to fix it. So now we have a door that cannot be locked and he wants £565 to fit a new lock. Don't think I will be using these again.

When the technician removed the entire locking system and took it all away to return to base to find the part I was somewhat surprised. It left me with no option but to accept the quoted price which was excessive. When he returned the part was not the same and he just exchanged the gearbox lock onto the old assembly. I checked after he left that the online price for the part is @£30 not the £180 I was charged plus and the fallout fee the job cost me over £300. Not impressed at all.

I was given a price over the phone which more than tripled when the locksmith got to my door. He took one look at the door and tripled the fee, without any examination of the locking mechanism. He then proceeded to charge me a cancellation fee when I opted not to have my door lock drilled and replaced (which I do not disagree with - common practice) but it was only after the payment was taken that he asked questions about the locking mechanism. His assumptions that my door was a “security door” which locked automatically were incorrect and he simply shrugged and said it wouldn’t change matters. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but either way, his approach was amateurish and frustrating. I would definitely recommend people go elsewhere. The only positive point was the response time was under 1 hour, but that doesn’t make up for the shoddy workman.

Called Keys4U as we were locked out our house. The price I was told to get back in was £69+VAT on weekends. When the locksmith arrived he told me it was £120 and for a new lock it would be £65 + £70 labour, totalling £255! In the end I just paid the £120. By chance I had a spare lock and replaced it myself which took 5 mins to do. Feel let down by the price (almost) doubling and locksmith trying to take advantage.

Technician came and got me in quickly , no issues with the job he did. Had been given tele no by relative who googled it for me , thought local co. The cost though seems very high after later browsing the other firms in the area. My Insurance Co confirmed this, for one lock mid afternoon.
