“Not happy. Took out travel insurance on a one way-trip from UK to Philippines, treating the first section as a vacation. At nonpoint was I asked about a return journey. When I tried to extend the insurance questions were asked. Turned out their insurance only covered me if I was on vacation, with a planned return to the UK. SO I WAS UNINSURED FOR THE FIRST SECTION OF MY TRAVELS. JUST TRAVEL TOOK MY MONEY BUT WERE NOT COVERING ME. NOT HAPPY AT ALL”

To clarify, the policy you purchased is designed for UK residents travelling on a return-trip basis, meaning the trip must both start and end in the UK. This requirement is outlined during the online purchase journey and within the pre-purchase declaration that needs to be accepted before cover is confirmed. From what you’ve described, your travel plans involved relocating to the Philippines on a one-way basis, which unfortunately falls outside the scope of this type of policy. As a result, the cover would not have been valid for that journey. When you later contacted us to extend the policy, the insurer was unable to do so as extensions are only permitted when the original trip meets the policy criteria (including a planned return to the UK). We understand you then explored alternative short-term cover while already abroad, which also has specific eligibility requirements, leading to the cancellation. We appreciate that travel insurance can sometimes be complex, particularly when travel plans don’t fit standard return-trip scenarios. If you’re planning long-term travel or relocation, we’d always recommend looking at specialist international health insurance or expat cover, which is better suited to those circumstances. “I found the process easy enough but most importantly the cost of insurance was right. Last fall I visited a very remote place and bought insurance for it. I lost the record of which company it was with. Just Travel Cover quoted a price in the same 'ballpark' as I was happy to pay. Other companies wanted nearly four times that figure but I knew they were gouging. JTC will receive my first enquiry the next time I need travel insurance.”

“Clear and helpful explanation of need for questions. Courteous and professional call handler. Would be helpful if staff showed me how to reduce premium. Had to be pressed to do so. I have used Just Travel a number of times but this was not appreciated.”
