With over 180 years' trading experience, the Howarth Timber Group has grown to provide not only the widest range of products, but expertise, service and knowledge you can rely on.
“Generally the experience was overall excellent the only downside was the lack of communication, I didn't receive any text or email to say that the items were ready to collect although upon arrival at the branch service was prompt and the goods were ready, one piece of the decorative moulding was not too good but as I only needed short lengths it was usable, would certainly use the branch again.”
“Ease of ordering off the website. Was telephoned to confirm what wood was used for as not stocked at the branch. Alternative offered, and delivered the next day. Great service & price.”
“Easy enough to order on-line, in my case I chose delivery of a product from my local depot only to be informed after my order was placed and paid for that they didn't stock the item (poor that the on-line sytem allowed this) so I was telephoned and offered an alternative - delivery was therefore dealyed and I was told I'd be rang re delivery next day, I had to ring to a) confirm delivery was happening, and b) to chase up on drop off time - it's hardly a smooth and seamless business model - unlikely i'll use them again”
“Good quality products at a competitive price. Their communication was excellent right from placing the order to updates on delivery. The delivery driver was friendly and professional and took care with off loading my order.”
“Goods were generally as per the order, although the 40mm crusher stone had loads of stone greater than 40mm which was annoying.
When ordering, the site and email said they would phone to arrange delivery. They didn’t, and turned up unarranged at 7:30am when I had been working nights, which was frustrating and easily avoided if they just followed their own process.”
“Telephoned for a quote a few days previous, only to find that when I went in the price was different. Price given on the phone was £19, on the day it was £29. Reflecting on my experience this was not the first time Howarth have done this. Sad, as the timber yard is handy for me.”
“Have just bought some PSE timber and MDF sheet from my local branch (Cheadle Hulme) for a small DIY project. I would like to thank the counter staff and the guys in the wharehouse for their helpfull and friendly service. They made the whole experience really easy for me. A refreshing change from the couldn't care less attitude from a well known DIY store just down the road. I would definitely shop there again.”
“Easy to order and eventually collect, however a bit of confusion at the desk, you show them your email order and then wait for someone to go and get it. Then as you leave they ask if you are going to pay for that.
If they had checked the order it's prepaid, would save embarrassment in the store!”
