“Ordered 5 lengths of skirting board online very reasonably priced. Went to collect them but they were behind some delivered pallets of timber etc the person takes with getting them for me was not happy and made it very clear, tutting and huffing dragging his feet and muttering under his breath how he’s now got to move all this just to get my purchase”
“Part order delivered without explanation of the missing item. A week later I was still waiting. It was only after my second call that I was told that they didn’t have the item (3 off) and couldn’t order in. We agreed I would cancel this. The refund was made promptly. The disappointing aspect was that I hadn’t been kept updated!”

“Great products and prices but terrible communication. When we ordered were told about 7 day delivery but never had a delivery day confirmed. I rang a week later and was told it was coming that day so we had no notice. Needed to be home and unlock alley gate and garden gate and arrange someone to wheelbarrow it to the back garden.”
“The online ordering system was ok , the products i received I was happy with, however the delivery time of the items was slow 8 days from ordering to deliver locally. On the 6th day of waiting had to chase up for information when it would be delivered,as the email was so vague on delivery time . As waiting on delivery held up the job I was doing . I appreciate that I'm a DIY customer not a builder . But considering I also ordered one ton of top soil from another builders yard in Preston to Barnsley on the Monday it arrived Tuesday morning 18 hrs later.so 8 days when I'm 7 miles away was frustrating and disappointing.”
“They were supposed to call before delivering the stone, but instead, they simply dropped it outside and left. Fortunately, I was able to contact customer service and arrange for its return to be placed correctly. The customer service experience was unusual—not rude, but argumentative and prone to talking over people.”

“I placed an order 8 days ago, based on the website promise of delivery within 3 to 5 days. I have been told I have to wait another 2 days still. I ordered bulk bags of gravel - nothing that should have been difficult to provide within the time scale.”

“If I’m totally honest I’m not overly impressed.
I found the timber online that I required for the job that I needed to carry out, it was at a great price too and sold by the metre.
I ordered it online and waited for someone to let me know when it was cut and ready to be collected, 3 hours later no call, message , nothing.
So eventually I drove to the selected store and on arrival I’m then advised that the online team haven’t a clue which stores have cutting facilities and that they have no way to cut the timber.
With this in mind having already paid for 14 metres which I needed I then had to pay for another 4.5m as they only sell them in 4.5m lengths. 🤦♂️
Now this seems to be a great example of the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing.
Oh and why advertise online that the timber is 18mm thick when it’s actually only 14mm in reality I find this very misleading.

“Lack of contact regarding delivery date and time etc. I had to call them to check delivery date, they said on the day of delivery driver will contact me, no contact made by delivery driver.Cotswold chipping was poor quality, too much powdery sand in them, will not order these from Howarth timber.”
“The online ordering system did not make it clear when I placed my order that some items were out of stock. Only by phoning my local branch (who were very apologetic) after a week to enquire when my delivery would happen was I informed that items were out of stock and that it would probably be another 5 days before I received them. Three days on from my call and a week and a half after placing my order I am still awaiting my delivery.”
