“Order took almost 2 weeks and 4 attempts to deliver. Branch were chasing stock all over, derby and doncaster and when my order came, they dropped off someone elses order which was bundled with mine. Staff at branch were helpful and apologetic but the whole experience was a shambles and extremely amateurish. Not something you expect from an established company.”

“My wife ordered decking boards on 24/06/25 via the web site which indicated that the boards were wanted were in stock at our local depot. On the 27th I received a call to tell me the boards were not in stock but was offered alternatives that would be delivered within a couple of days. On the 3rd of July I called enquiring about my order to be told that whomever told me that the longer boards were available was incorrect. I was then informed that they would get the boards from another depot on Monday 7th for delivery Tuesday 8th July, needless to say that has not happened, no call from Northwich to inform me - abysmal service from Northwich Depot, i will not be using again!”

I continually chased for an update on missing items. They never called back with the promised update.
I finally cancelled the missing items. Still waiting for a refund for this, over 2 months , 8 emails and 6 phone calls.. I have tried the branch and head office. It took over a month to get a VAT invoice.”

“I would review but still haven't received my product? It wasn't even in stock when I ordered and paid? So still non the wiser 3 weeks later when I'll get my stuff.”
“Placed order online for a product which it would appear howarth didn't have in stock at the branch near me. It said 3-7 days. When I enquired after 3 days about when I could expect the order, they Couldnt advise of any delivery date - said they wouldn't know until a driver had been to a different depot the following day. Ended up cancelling the order and getting a refund which was duly processed and getting compost from another supplier who delivered the next day.”
“Despite checking delivery dates before ordering I was contacted three days later saying that there had been a glitch in the online system and my delivery had not been scheduled and now they were too busy to meet the order date. After expressing my frustration I haven’t moved the delivery date back to suit my availability and despite promises from the agent I have not had a phone call or email confirming the new date. All the time having paid for the product weeks ago. Who knows if I will get the product this time round!”

“Unfortunately after one week we still haven’t received our order. We have tried contacting the branch several times eventually getting an answer. They said they would check the order and get back to me but still haven’t heard anything. So I regret to say that the service is very poor.”

“Ordered fence palings online. Never got an email or message to say order was ready for collect after confirmation email said lead time 3 - 5 days. Had to call branch and they were unapologetic claiming they never send out any kind of order ready for collection message. Are you supposed to be physically know when your order is ready?”
“Ordered the items last Monday 7th still not arrived:
Delivery says 3-5 days and called them and delivery it supposed to be tomorrow the 15th.
Know one contacted me and no updates from site on delivery.”
“Wouldn't it be nice to have your order delivered before you ask for a review. It's been 5 working days since I placed my order. You say you will deliver it within 3 to 5 days. You have not contacted me with any idea of when it will be delivered.”

“Placed an order for delivery, only received a call when an email was sent requesting an update on delivery date, 7 days after placing the order. Given a delivery date only to receive a call on the afternoon of the promised date saying the driver would not make it and it would now be the following day. Goods duly arrived whilst I was out, two out of four ply sheets are damaged, really poor customer service.”

“It is unfortunate that I am being asked to give a review when I’ve not even received my goods yet it was promised two days ago was not delivered when I made enquiries. I told it was gonna be delivered two days later and I still haven’t got my order.”

“I purchased some timber from our local Howarth Timber (Cheadle) online, they had only 3 meters of that particular timber which they delivered after 3 days. I paid £20 for a local delivery (1 mile).
I contacted them and ask for additional 6 meters, but since they didn't have that in stock they asked me to contact Sale branch which is again not so far from us and they should be able to send them with no additional delivery charge, but they insist that I had to pay another £30 for the remaining timbers. I couldn't pay £50 delivery charge for a £25 order, so I didn't go ahead with the remaining timbers and tried to source them from somewhere else.
By the way the Cheadle branch staff are very good, helpful and polite, but not all branches. I never buy something like this from Howarth for sure.”
