As a first time customer, I found Home Protect to be a very professional and helpful Company to deal with, who also outlined key areas of the type of Insurance, I would require for the type of Property I intended to and finally Insured.

This is my second year with home protect. They have been the cheapest quotes both years running. Was easy to apply first time round and they sent remind when the insurance was due to run out. Quick and easy to stay with them.

Having non-standard build limits my choices for buildings insurance. I’ve been with Home Protect since 2016 as each year they have provided the best value quotes and seamless customer service.

Got a quote for Home Protect on a comparison website which was cheaper than the one quoted directly on its website. Called customer service and got it at the cheaper price. It had a promotion if bought on its website which I did and I am still waiting for the vouchers.

I went for the cheapest option for building / contents insurance via a search engine. When I made a claim the process took over 9 months to complete. The claim team consistently under-delivered in their responses, and also contradicted each other leading to confusion and a lengthy process. Upon renewal I was no longer offered a Monthly credit account and my premium increased by 60%. Needless to say we did not re-insure with Home Protect. Very difficult to get hold of a person on the phone. Will not use again.

As an Insurance professional myself and manage insurance claims, I opted for Home Protect due to their realistic approach to covering ad-hoc risks. I must say, I scrutinised their policy and conditions very carefully and I'm very please with their policy. An equivalent policy through other insurers would have been double the price I am paying. Would recommend Home Protect for quality of cover and customer service 100%. Also, I have previously handled insurance claims for Home Protect in previous years and their claims process does match up to their sales service.

Do not use this company. Take advantage of customers by charging ridiculous fees. Charge you £100 to leave during your Insurance term! To put it into perspective my monthly direct debit was just £20 per month. Other companies charge around £30. Will never use again

Happy to get an accurate online quote but also have no problem getting quickly through to a lovely person on the phone when we wanted to buy. Excellent price and our unique circumstances not a problem.

Received renewal notice with notification of new premium. Done a quick search on a comparison site, and noted that Home Protect was listed on the search results with a lower premium than I was quoted on my renewal notice, for the exact same cover. Made a call to Home Protect where the person was understanding and helpful. Received a reduction on my renewal premium closer to that advertised on comparison site. Would have given 5 stars, instead of 4 stars, if I had been given the lower premium in the first instance as a returning customer. But, well pleased with Home Protect.

Mine is a complicated house to insure as it’s listed and very old, 1410. Upon renewal I had to keep having phone calls with them and in Covid times this was a lengthy process. I missed a few returned calls and they suspended the policy. Meaning I wasn’t covered and had to begin again. The call to re-register was 45 minutes long, repeating what would have been on file for the cancelled policy and then the price was £300 more! I was disappointed about this but needed to press on with getting the insurance back in the house. I think the whole renewal could have been made cheaper and smoother for me, but Covid and staff working at home meant repeated calls to clarify questions and that’s why the policy lapsed. With the result I got penalised financially.

Had to give 2 stars to point out all wasn’t well. On getting insured with Homeprotect last year the premium was good but it wasn’t pointed out that they would automatically renew without informing me. As a result had to go through the rigmarole of feeling duped and having credit card company check my transactions. Complained to Homeprotect via email, which took a couple of days to answer and was told I had been sent renewal notice in the post. I don’t recall seeing that and the post is pretty good nowadays why wasn’t it an email? Irony was the premium was pretty good, I was just left disappointed that was no prior correspondence.

I'm sorry if there was any confusion surrounding auto renewal, it's certainly never our intention to leave our customers feeling this way. Whether a policy is taken out over the phone or online, it is stated in our terms and conditions that are agreed to, that policies are set to renew automatically. We do this to ensure that you are fully insured without a break. This protects your property and belongings in the event of having to make a claim. Your renewal documents were sent out via post to on 7 August to allow you time to make a decision.
