“I love Gabor shoes, find them very well made and when they fit, very comfortable. However I had to return the ‘wide fitting’ ankle boots as they were absolutely not wide. Very disappointed indeed. I’ll have to resort to buying another make, well known for their genuinely wide fitting boots and shoes, but alas not as elegant as Gabor. So I’ve given only a two star rating as they were not wide as described.”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your shoes were not wide enough for you. Many of our customers use the half size larger method to create extra area within the shoe. “Sadly I will be returning this purchase via Clinkards The shoes are too high cut for my foot shape. It was not very clear from the photos on the website. Normally I am very pleased with Gabor products but on this occasion cannot wear the shoes”

“Although I love Gabor shoes generally these did not work for me. When I tried to send them back the courier service only insures for £50 - Gabor shoes are always more expensive than that ! So I ended up going to the post office to return which cost £16 ! Gabor really needs to get a better courier !”

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we do not have our own courier and to send orders out but we use Royal Mail and DPD. We do ask customers to return unwanted items to us at their own cost and you may choose any courier you wish. The link on our webiste is to an outside agency (collect +) and we have an arrangement with them where for the reduced cost of £4.49 you can send back up to 10 kilo. You can however visit the Collect + site yourself and look for a service with more options if you wish, such as an insured service. Most customers tend to use Royal Mail second class and then buy tracking which is around 80p more so that they can see when they arrive. They have the option to buy insurance or not, have a next day service etc, but each add on with increase the price. I hope that this information helps. Kind regards, Janice - customer services

“Very disappointed with recent purchase of the Dublin Chelsea Boots inconsistent size. I have worn Gabor boots for a long time and always order 6.5 these were almost 2 inches longer than all my other pairs so had to return but having paid for fast delivery and then the cost to return it was really annoying.”

“Wow. £4.49 to return an item means that this is an online shopping experience that I won't be repeating. Boots are great, but paying for returns isn't.”

“I ordered a pair of wide fit boots that were too narrow!! I took a risk knowing I’d need to pay for return postage. My feet are a G and the supposed H+ was too tight. I’m disappointed”

They are an H fitting and you may find that if you would like to try on a half size larger, this will give you the extra area within the shoe that you need. “I have other Gabor shoes. Very disappointed with these ankle boots. The website says wide fitting and I also confirmed with the customer service team. As other reviewers have stated they are NOT wide fitting. I had to pay the postage to return which is unusual.”

We are sorry that you did not find that these boots were wide enough for you, the reviews are mixed, some saying that they are lovely and roomy and a few people like yourself, who say that they do not seem wide. Your comments will help others when they are browsing. Gabor do a wider fitting which is an H (this boot is a G) or you may find that getting a half size larger, gives you the extra area within the shoe that you need. “I love the shoes but when ordering it is unclear if the shoe size is UK or US. I ordered a pair of boots directly from you and they are 2 sizes to large. I ordered from Amazon as well and issued a return but have not received the return package sticker from you.”

“I really liked the style of these shoes but the sizing of them was disappointing. They came up so large I couldn’t comfortably walk in them. I have ordered a smaller size, as they are beautiful shoes but I was sorry to find that I had to pay for return postage to send them back ( something I have not been used to with other online retailers). I hope that the smaller size shoe fits or it will have been an expensive and unsuccessful shopping experience.”

We do cover the cost of postage to our customers and also for the exchange, but do ask if you can return at your own cost. You can take back to a Charles Clinkard store, we have a few not too far from you, and you have up to 365 days to return an item so long as unworn. “Received a pair of white Gabor sandals that had clearly been worn multiple times? I have returned said item and tried to re-order but in the time it has taken to sort this out you are now out of stock and not re-ordering any more 'summer' stock (sandals). Very disappointing.”

“The boots looked great but unfortunately nearly impossible to get on as zip to short. Once on fitted comfortably but too much of a struggle for a design fault.”

You can return your oder to any Charles Clinkard store if you have one close to you or return by post or courier. We deliver free of charge but do ask customers to cover the cost of returns. Thank you for your review. Although we do deliver free of charge, we do ask customer to cover the cost of any returns. You can send back an item using second class Royal Mail which is keeps cost low and then add tracking which is around 80p more. There is a link on our website to Collect + where for the low cost of £4.49 you can return up to 10 kilo, so several pair of shoes can be returned in one package. “This was my first time buying Gabor shoes online. I am usually a size six, but bought half a size down after reading reviews which said the shoes came up large. They were still too big for me so needed to be returned. I had, mistakenly, thought Gabor offered free returns (like other similar brands, Geox, Camper, etc), but I discovered I had misread their website and returns are not free. It cost me just under a tenner to return them (including insurance - as I didn't want to risk ending up £100 out of pocket if the parcel got lost). That was enough to put me off ordering a smaller size, in case they also didn't fit and I would be further out of pocket, having to return those. I won't be ordering from Gabor again online. You can return to their branches, but there are none where I live (London). I like Gabor shoes, but will stick to buying them in person from concessions - or online from other retailers (like John Lewis) which offer free returns. Given how often the fit of shoes isn't quite right, it does seem a bit short sighted not to offer free returns or at least where the cost is capped (as the likes of Uniqlo and others do).”

“I was so excited about getting these boots and was so disappointed when they arrived! I bought two pairs of boots in the same style but different colours at just under £400. The boxes that they arrived in were battered and tatty, the boots were either scratched or looked like they had been tried on by lots of people before me and the inside packaging was insufficient to keep the shape and quality of the product and an array of odd bits of paper and plastic. Processing my order and managing my return and refund was excellent.”

“Ordering online has its drawbacks, the goods came and were not as expected, narrow in the foot and very uncomfortable, altogether a disappointing buy..... goods returned. Other items bought in the past have been great, perhaps this was a one off thing.”

Some items have a different leather to others, some soft and some more robust. This one was one of our softer leathers. We do hope that you find a different item that is as comfortable as you have come to expect. On this occasion, the boots that you ordered were a wider fitting, you usually get a standard fitting so may find that the Medium fit may be better for you. I do hope that his helps.
